I Became a Calamity-Level Villain in the Magical Girl Universe Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Bang!

The turtle monster chases after us. Its movements are slow and sluggish, but perhaps because of its massive size, the distance between us isn’t widening at all.

In the meantime, it intermittently shoots massive water bombs from its mouth. Well, if a normal human were hit once, they wouldn’t even be able to get back up.

However, I managed to evade all of its attacks successfully. The reason is simple: I had already seen its attacks coming.

Right now, I clearly have the form of a human, Baek Seung-hyun, but my essence is ultimately the monster, the Black Knight.

To transform into a monster is, after all, to liberate what had been locked away in one’s essence; it means overlaying the concept of being human rather than concealing one’s true nature.

Of course, because I’m a regular human right now, I can’t use magical power and my physical abilities are as mundane as can be, but my ability to detect attacks remains the same as when I was the Black Knight.

As a result, I could evade the turtle monster’s attacks while carrying Lee Su-hui like this.

— [Stop there, you fool! How long do you think you can run? Human stamina is ultimately limited!]

Foolish? Right now, I’m moving as if I were a human walking slowly, so I’m not expending much energy. However, since I have no idea what might happen the moment the turtle monster determines it can catch us, I intentionally slowed my pace slightly.

On my back, Reina spoke up.

“Please, put me down! If we keep going like this, we’ll both get caught. I’ll fight back….”

“You can’t win right now. You’d want to fight that thing in your current state? Isn’t that just asking to become monster food?”

That’s not wrong. If Reina were to face that turtle monster now, it was clear she would be done for immediately. Perhaps knowing that herself, Reina snapped back angrily.

“Even so, I can’t help it! I’m a magical girl. Naturally, I have a duty to protect civilians….”

“Don’t be ridiculous. You might convince yourself of that, but I can’t accept it. Isn’t Reina a person? Of course, you’d want to live.”

A brief silence followed. The girl hesitated, then opened her mouth to shout.

“Yes, of course I want to live! The thought of fighting that thing is awful! But that doesn’t mean I can let you risk yourself, Baek Seung-hyun!”

To her words, I replied while dodging a water bomb.

“I’m being perfectly reasonable right now. If you get taken down by that thing, what comes next? Even if you’re lucky and hold out for a long time, others will eventually be put in danger. And—

I don’t want to become a fan and flee while sacrificing Reina. That’s why I’m doing this.”

To Reina, who fell silent, I added one more line.

“Let’s take that thing down.”

The turtle monster knew where the man in front of it was heading. That direction led to a residential area with few people. A ghost town where only those who had no money and no options gathered. It was probably deliberately leading us there to minimize the number of people who might be harmed.

Yet, knowing this, the turtle monster still followed the man carrying the magical girl. It had no intention of lessening the damage to the people. If it had, it wouldn’t have become a monster in the first place.

The reason it followed was simply that it wanted to see the despair on the faces of the man and the magical girl.

Even after running hard to create a favorable environment, if they were to be defeated helplessly, what actions would the man and magical girl take? Would they blame each other and fight? Or would they simply accept their deaths? The turtle monster’s unsettling imaginings quickened its pace.

Finally, we entered the ghost town. The turtle monster couldn’t help but click its tongue inwardly.

It was understandable; the streets there were quite narrow. The turtle monster was relatively large for a monster. If it wasn’t careful, its body could get stuck in the road and it wouldn’t be able to move.

Well, whatever.

— [Just smash everything to bits.]

The old residential buildings, long abandoned by the people, began to shatter like the hard shell of a turtle. In the chaos, the man and the magical girl had vanished from sight.

— [Ha.]

Is this some sort of game of hide-and-seek? Well, it doesn’t matter. Weaklings like them can only do so much, even if they try. The turtle monster started demolishing the buildings one by one.

— [Where are you hiding~ If I catch you, I’ll tear off your arms and legs one by one.]

Saying such chilling things casually, the monster had no real thoughts. Monsters are inherently like that. Regardless of who they were in the past, they invariably transform into something cruel and evil.

As the imposing turtle monster marched forward, it suddenly realized the path had narrowed. Damn it, how unpleasant.

— [I’ll smash everything—]

And at that moment, the magical girl appeared on the roof above, unaware of the turtle monster’s presence.

But the turtle monster didn’t notice this fact. The magical girl was above it, and since the turtle monster was specialized in looking to the sides, it remained oblivious.

At that moment, Reina began to gather her magic.

Boom!

With a colossal explosion, a building was completely obliterated. The debris soared into the air and landed on the turtle monster’s body.

— [What!?]

The startled monster attempted to rise but struggled against the weight of the materials. Meanwhile, Reina jumped down from the building and climbed onto the turtle monster’s shell.

‘This is as he said it would be.’

As Baek Seung-hyun ran with Reina on his back, he recalled his words. “If it’s a turtle-like monster, then its characteristics would resemble a turtle as well.”

So, naturally, the hardest part would be its shell. Attacking such a sturdy place would yield no results for Reina, who had limited magic power.

Where should they aim? It was obvious. Without question, the head. They had to target the most critical and vulnerable spot before the monster could retract its head into its shell.

And now was the golden opportunity. If they missed this chance, there might not be another.

In truth, he had his doubts when he proposed the plan. Since Reina was merely a C-rank magical girl, it was hard to imagine her defeating a turtle monster with far greater magical power than hers.

Yet he spoke with absolute certainty.

“You can do it.”

How could a magical girl, upon being told she could do it, respond with “I can’t”?

Reina gathered her magic and cast her spell.

— [W-What!]

The turtle monster finally noticed Reina’s presence. If this attack failed, there wouldn’t be a next chance.

But it didn’t matter. The next chance likely wouldn’t come.

“‘Meteor Shower’.”

Sparkling orbs of magical energy fell from the sky.

No, it wasn’t just one or two. They continued to fall, more and more.

The shining orbs traced arcs in the sky before weaving together and raining down.

This was the most powerful attack magic that Reina could currently use: Meteor Shower.

They struck directly at the monster’s head.

The monster collapsed. Its head exploded, unable to resist even once before it perished.

Reina’s magical power was not significantly different from that of ordinary C-rank magical girls. However, there was a notable difference in one aspect: the output of her magic.

When Reina maximizes her magical power, the output she can produce is remarkable—this is her greatest advantage. If it had been any other C-rank magical girl, even aiming for the head would not have guaranteed a single strike that could kill the turtle monster.

In other words, it was something only Reina could achieve.

I ran towards Reina, who stood there with a dazed expression, smiling brightly.

“We did it!”

At those words, Reina finally seemed to grasp the reality of the situation and ran toward me with a beaming smile.

As we embraced each other joyfully, Reina suddenly exclaimed, “Oh no! What about the buildings? I ended up destroying them…”

“That’ll be classified as damage caused by a monster, so the government will compensate for it. Besides, there aren’t many people living in this ghost neighborhood anyway. Let’s see… where are we exactly…?”

At that moment, I realized something.

“Huh? My apartment…?”

Yes. The apartment where I, Baek Seung-hyun, had awakened to see the thick smoke of burning charcoal was completely wrecked.

The landlords would receive compensation from the government.

But someone like me, who was just renting, had lost my place to sleep overnight…?

As I came to this brutal realization, I stood there with my mouth agape.
