Chapter 8 – Training Methods You Don’t Know
#1
Medeia received the report and felt incredibly good.
So when she saw Loras slacking off today, she thought, ‘He deserves a day off.’ And when she saw Lorelian snapping at the maids, she concluded, ‘The maids should take better care of him.’
Had she ever felt this happy in recent times?
<Young Master Lawrence has made a request.> <It seems he’s broken some of the household items. He has requested more.>
“Haha, of course. How could a child who hasn’t even received proper education take care of such precious items?”
It’s only natural that a young boy would break things and not know how to handle them properly.
And there’s only one maid, isn’t there?
After using commoner-grade household items for years, he’s now using luxurious noble ones.
It’s obvious that he would want to replace the ones he’s broken, right?
‘The plan is perfect. Now… all that’s left is to wait for the head of the family to give the order.’
She chuckled and called for the head maid.
Medeia’s people were planted all over the Montemer family’s main house.
It was time to make another request.
“You called, my lady.”
“There has been a supply request from the storage.”
“How long has it been since we sent them… What should I do?”
“You’ll do what you always do. This time, too, I’m counting on you. Send [Oliver].”
The head maid bowed deeply.
Once an order is given, it is the head maid’s role to carry it out.
She withdrew to once again cast curses and assign Oliver as the escort.
There would be no failure this time.
After all, it was a direct order from the mistress of Montemer herself.
After making the arrangements, she met with Oliver.
“My lady has ordered you to go to the annex and check on the young master’s condition.”
“A simple task. Understood.”
Oliver, a 4th Circle mage.
Though an outsider, he had been recruited by Edward to serve as a combat mage.
His family was a small trading group that had dealings with Medeia’s family.
Oliver had inevitably become entangled with Medeia and was now dedicated to his family’s prosperity.
“Oh, and bring the materials Young Master Lawrence requested. Also, the household supplies.”
“I have received my orders clearly.”
“Once you deliver and inspect, report back. Now then…”
The head maid bowed and disappeared with quick steps.
Oliver briefly watched her leave and then thought of the young master in the ‘trash storage.’
“I heard he’s started using magic. Tsk, tsk. If he’d stayed quiet, he wouldn’t have drawn so much dislike…”
What could a mere ten-year-old boy do?
Sigh, being born without talent or influence in such a powerful family was truly unfortunate.
Oliver turned and headed toward the family head’s office.
Whatever the young master had requested, it was probably a pointless struggle.
Oliver began thinking about what reward he should demand and what kind of deal he could negotiate.
After all, he wasn’t a mage who moved without compensation.

“Young Master, are you okay?”
Cough! “Ugh… I’m fine.”
“Should I prepare some medicine?”
“We don’t have money. Maybe… the supplies will arrive today?”
Rachel looked at the sickly Lawrence, her eyes welling up with tears.
Watching the young master suffer from an illness reminded her of the times when the madam had taken care of her when she was sick as a child.
The young master, who had been fine just a while ago, suddenly became ill…
‘Come to think of it, he did break all the dishes and told me not to touch them.’
He had also strictly separated the food supplies for himself and Rachel.
At this point, it would be strange not to notice something.
As she changed the cold cloth on his forehead, Rachel thought about how unjust the world was.
She and the ten-year-old young master, left alone in this rundown annex…
And yet, they couldn’t leave them alone, instead, they sent strange things to torment them.
Neither of them had any magical talent, and neither could detect curses or poisons, but there was no reason for the young master to fall ill so suddenly.
“Young Master…”
“I’m… cough… fine. Just keep an eye out for the guest. Call me right away when they arrive. Got it?”
“Understood. You must have a plan, right?”
“Yeah. Ugh…”
His mouth was dry, and swallowing was difficult.
His whole body was wracked with muscle pain, and chills coursed through him from the inside out.
Messages flashed before Lawrence’s eyes, further disturbing his thoughts.
[Curse: Afflicted with Weakness.]
[Progress: 4%]
[Poison: Suffering from indigestion, body aches, and muscle pain.]
[Progress: 12%]
‘They must have really hated my mother and me.’
Instead, it was fine.
The hatred towards them was becoming the driving force that allowed him to push himself harder.
Just then, the sound of horses and a carriage could be heard through the open window.
‘Have they arrived?’
“Rachel, I think they’re here, cough cough! Hurry, go downstairs…”
“Young Master, just stay here.”
“No… it’s fine.”
Lawrence staggered but managed to get up.
He had endured days of suffering for this moment.
Since he didn’t know when they would arrive, he had lived with the curses and poison, and his body was a mess because of it.
Thud thud!
There was a loud knocking at the door from downstairs.
Rachel, after looking back and forth a few times, hurried down to meet the guest.
Lawrence, despite his unsteady gait, slowly walked toward the entrance.
“Who is it?”
“I’m here to deliver supplies. I am Oliver, the escort.”
“Oh, yes!”
Rachel quickly opened the door.
It was Oliver, a 4th Circle mage.
He ordered his men to stack the cursed items and then glanced around.
Where was Young Master Lawrence?
“Isn’t that Sir Oliver? Cough!”
“Young Master, how are you? But you don’t look well at all.”
“Yes… I seem to have caught a cold.”
Hack hack!
The cough from his chest was unavoidable, a clear sign that the poison and curse had taken effect.
Seeing the maid’s genuine look of concern, Oliver could tell that the curse and poison had worked perfectly.
Feeling pity for the young master, Oliver handed him a few books.
“These are the books and materials the family head asked me to give you. I hope they help.”
“Thank you.”
“The supplies are stacked in the storage out back. How were the food supplies?”
“They were delicious. I would love to receive more if possible.”
The young master smiled innocently and coughed.
After noting everything down meticulously, Oliver bid farewell.
“Well, that concludes my duty here. I will take my leave now.”
“Thank you for coming all this way. Please send my regards to the lady.”
“I will. Then…”
As the door closed, the carriage and horses disappeared into the distance.
Rachel, who had been watching from the window, turned around and shouted.
“Young Master! This is too much—wait, what?”
“Oh, now I feel much better. Hmm? What were you saying?”
“Young Master…?”
Just a moment ago, her young master had looked like he was on the verge of death.
But why… why was he now so bright and healthy?
Rachel, frozen in place, stared in confusion.
Lawrence looked at her and burst out laughing.
“Did you really think I was that sick? Well, actually, I was. Poison and curses… they’re awful, just awful.”
“Young Master! Are you really okay!?”
“Of course.”
[Negative Energy]
[Stored Energy: 443]
The energy that had been used during training was replenished.
The poison and curse that had been eating away at his body had been converted into energy for growth.
His previously pale skin had regained its vitality, and his dull eyes were now bright and sparkling again.
Most importantly, he had successfully made his enemies lower their guard and bought some time.
During this period, he would continue to grow stronger.
Lawrence turned his gaze toward the books sent from the main house.
[Eden Family – Swordsmanship]
[Eden Family – Physical Training]
[Eden Family…]
The Eden family, known as “Those Crazy about Swords,” was a small baron family at the time, but in the future, they would be recognized as heroes who saved the nation.
***
They would eventually become a family that produced the [Sword Saint], who had long disappeared.
But that was 15 years into the future.
For now, it was still a distant story.
However, Lawrence knew.
The Eden family’s physical enhancement method was the driving force that made them the family of the Sword Saint.
“I have one question.”
[Speak.]
“Can artifacts be removed after being implanted?”
[Yes, it is possible.]
“And they don’t disappear?”
[They remain as physical objects.]
Satisfied with his curiosity, Lawrence was now ready to focus on getting stronger without worries.

Rustle, rustle.
Lawrence quietly immersed himself in his work.
Rachel urged him to sleep, but how could he?
Time was more precious to him than gold right now.
‘I need to build a solid foundation during my growth period. This is perfectly normal.’
Why else would athletes maintain physical abilities far superior to ordinary people, even after they stop training?
It’s because their bodies remember the physical capabilities they developed during their youth.
What kind of activities you engage in and how you train during your growth period essentially determine your overall life.
In terms of physical ability, no training method could compare to the Eden family’s techniques.
“All done.”
[Artifact: Leather Armor with a Hole]
[Engraving: Chain of Mana]
[Engraving Rank: 1st Circle]
[Implantation Status: Available]
The Chain of Mana was a debuff spell that pressed down the user’s body with mana.
Using it would exponentially increase the physical strain on the body, causing severe fatigue throughout the entire body.
Anyone who saw this would think it was madness.
Imposing such burdens on a growing child’s body could, in fact, damage it permanently.
“Deactivate the Fire Arrow artifact.”
[Deactivating the artifact.]
Crackle!
The artifact implanted in his body turned back into a physical object.
Lawrence, now alone in this desolate trash storage, hid the treasure there and prepared himself for hardship.
“Implant the Chain of Mana artifact.”
[Implanting the artifact.]
Crackle!
The new artifact was implanted, and Lawrence collapsed to his knees.
[Chain of Mana is activated.]
[Negative Energy consumption increases.]
“Hah… this is it.”
This was a training method none of them knew about yet.
If there was a lottery ticket guaranteed to win, wouldn’t you walk the thorny path to get it?
Confidence alone could turn a person into something superhuman.
Crack!
Lawrence’s frail body screamed in pain.
At the same time, the Negative Energy being ravenously consumed began to deplete quickly.
“Hitting someone with my fist sure feels good, doesn’t it?”
The potential of artifacts was limitless.
Just like in a game, where equipping a specific item could change your class.
Lawrence had the potential to become either a warrior or a mage.
[Dragon Body is growing.]
[Hatchling: 9.9%]
[Upon reaching 10%, the number of implantable artifacts will increase.]
He would grow even stronger.
And he would ensure that the same events from his previous life wouldn’t occur during the upcoming [Subjugation Battle].
Lawrence had turned back time to correct what was wrong.
In his mind, the conversation he had with the Dragon remained vividly etched.
