I Poisoned them, and Now the Martial Artists are Obsessed. Chapter 13

Chapter 13

It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a spider that massive in my life.

As far as I knew, there was no spider that size other than the Human-Faced Spider.

It was shocking enough to see such a gigantic spider suddenly appear, but to see someone calmly riding on its back was even more surprising.

Tang Ha-ryeong quickly collected herself.

“Shouldn’t we help?”

She looked at the Human-Faced Spider with concern.

“Even if he’s lost his senses, he’s still a formidable master.”

No matter how strong a creature it is rumoured to be, could it really handle that old monster?

“Don’t worry about Jinju. We’re helping by not getting involved.”

Did he just call the Human-Faced Spider “Jinju”?

Tang Ha-ryeong couldn’t believe her ears.

Lee seon laughed nonchalantly.

It wasn’t for nothing that the Human-Faced Spider was called the King of Venomous Creatures.

Even without its poison, its intelligence and strong body were formidable threats.

Besides, the opponent was nearly dead at this point.

Tang Ha-ryeong had refined her martial arts to a new level through Rebirth.

Yet even she couldn’t dare to confront Wi Yu-gi’s strikes head-on.

However, the Human-Faced Spider was matching him blow for blow.

In fact, the Human-Faced Spider was slowly gaining the upper hand.

“That guy is a bit different from other magical beasts.”

Most magical beasts never forgive intruders who step into their territory.

Even if they sense the opponent is stronger, they won’t hesitate to fight to protect their domain.

“What makes it different?”

“It has a unique survival instinct.”

Perhaps because it narrowly escaped death at the hands of the old man several times, its instincts are incredibly sharp.

If it judges that the opponent is evenly matched, it will back off immediately.

Then it observes the opponent slowly from nearby.

If it decides the opponent is weaker, it attacks.

“Survival instinct?”

Tang Ha-ryeong, who didn’t know the backstory, only looked puzzled.

“It doesn’t even start fights it thinks it will lose.”

In other words, it hadn’t reappeared here for no reason.

Judging by the situation, its opponent’s strength had waned.

It likely calculated that he was no longer capable of harming it.

Most importantly, it was probably wary of the aftermath.

If the old man returned to find the spider alive and my corpse lying around, it would be solely responsible for facing his wrath.

Lee seon spoke as if confident that the Human-Faced Spider wouldn’t be overpowered.

“But if that Human-Faced Spider is so strong, why didn’t it help you from the start?”

Lee seon twisted his lips into a smile.

“Because it’s scared.”

“Huh?”

Tang Ha-ryeong couldn’t hide her disbelief.

How could a creature like that be afraid of anything?

If anything, it was the people of the world who feared the Human-Faced Spider.

Lee seon averted his gaze slightly.

“Must have had a rough childhood.”

Thanks to the old man, no doubt.

Lee seon understood why the Human-Faced Spider was so fearful.

He wasn’t the only victim of the “early education” they received.

Considering the old man’s personality, he wouldn’t have raised a rare creature gently.

***

Just as Lee seon predicted, the Human-Faced Spider soon sank its fangs right into Wi Yu-gi’s neck.

“Ugh…!”

Wi Yu-gi’s body deflated like a popped balloon in an instant.

The Human-Faced Spider’s belly swelled as it drained him of all his fluids.

No matter how demonic one may be, there’s no surviving that.

“We survived.”

Tang Ha-ryeong slumped down right where she stood.

She didn’t care that her clothes were getting dirty.

They were already dirty and torn; it wouldn’t make much difference.

“It’s not over yet.”

Though he was dying, he was still alive.

His life force was truly astonishing.

Lee seon approached and examined Wi Yu-gi’s condition.

Swollen from poison, his body was broken and shattered in places from his clashes with the Human-Faced Spider.

On top of that, his body was bleeding from every orifice due to his rampaging inner power, making him look like a wreck.

Even if someone who knew him saw him now, they’d have a hard time recognizing Wi Yu-gi.

Is surviving in such a state a blessing, or is it a curse?

Not that he’d be able to answer even if asked.

Ah, he doesn’t even have the strength to speak.

Lee seon beckoned to the Human-Faced Spider with a wiggle of his fingers.

Screech?

The spider looked bewildered but approached cautiously.

Its eight round eyes blinked innocently.

Without a word, Yi-seon placed his hand near the spider’s mouth.

Then he tapped his fist against its rows of teeth.

Picking one that seemed likely to fall out soon, he gave it a firm tug.

The spider’s pupils dilated in shock.

It finally realized what Lee seon was up to.

With an unyielding pull, Lee seon yanked out a fang with a pop.

Screech!

Quit whining. It was going to fall out soon anyway.

The Human-Faced Spider glared at him resentfully.

Screech!

Turning its head away, it left without looking back.

Guess I’ll have to make it up to it soon.

I’ll need to find a lot of good-quality meat to keep it satisfied.

The reason Lee seon had upset the spider was for a finishing blow.

With nothing else at hand, there was no choice.

They said the people of the Blood Sect and Demonic Cult defy common sense.

His instincts and all his knowledge told him that Wi Yu-gi would die soon.

But he wanted to eliminate any possibility, however slight, that he might rise again.

Yi-seon held the fang in his hand and slowly stabbed it into Wi Yu-gi’s heart.

Wi Yu-gi trembled one last time, then slumped down lifelessly.

It was truly the end.

It was the fang coated with the Human-Faced Spider’s venom.

If he still managed to get up, then I’ll just let him kill me.

Lee seon staggered and sank down right where he stood.

Tang Ha-ryeong, watching from behind, smirked faintly.

It was understandable.

She, too, wanted nothing more than to lie down right there.

However, years of living as a child of a distinguished clan stifled her desire.

“If you collapse here, I’ll leave you behind.”

But there was no response.

Is he so exhausted that he can’t even speak?

It looked like she, being the more energetic one, would have to take care of him.

As she approached, Yi-seon reached out to stop her.

“I’ll support you.”

Tang Ha-ryeong knelt before Lee seon.

“…Are you okay?”

She looked at him, her face filled with concern.

Up close, his face was pale, and his pupils were unfocused.

‘What’s suddenly happening to him?’

The Tang Clan was famous for handling poisons, but that wasn’t all.

They were also renowned for their medical skills.

Tang Ha-ryeong quickly extended her hand and felt his wrist.

His pulse was unstable!

It meant his insides were in chaos.

She needed to administer first aid immediately.

She looked around, but there was nothing she could use.

Then her eyes fell on Lee seon’s pocket.

She remembered that it always seemed to contain something that could save the day.

But inside, it was empty.

Cough.

Lee seon spat out blood.

Tang Ha-ryeong bit her lip.

Her lips turned white, even drawing blood, but she was too focused on Lee seon’s condition to notice.

“I must save him.”

A bond formed after narrowly escaping death together.

Though they hadn’t known each other long, and their start wasn’t ideal.

She owed him a debt she could never fully repay in her lifetime.

She couldn’t lose him so meaninglessly.

Tang Ha-ryeong’s eyes blurred.

Her eyelids trembled, and her eyes turned red.

Whoosh.

Just then, a strong wind blew.

The wind was so fierce that she couldn’t open her eyes properly, branches shook, and her hair whipped around.

“I see some unfamiliar faces since I was last here.”

A middle-aged man suddenly appeared, his sharp eyes gleaming.

“Hmm?”

He noticed the fallen Lee seon and frowned.

“That insolent brat. We meet again after so long, and he’s lying here so comfortably.”

The man’s hand moved like lightning.

He swiftly applied pressure points and began placing needles on Lee seon’s body.

At first glance, it looked like he was doing it carelessly, but upon closer inspection, it was remarkably precise.

He finished quickly and then turned his gaze to Tang Ha-ryeong.

“Did you do this to him?”

Tang Ha-ryeong swallowed at the chilling tone.

Wi Yu-gi had an overwhelming presence, but this man was different.

There was no discernible aura at all.

If he hadn’t shown his skills, she might’ve mistaken him for an ordinary person.

‘A master who has reached the realm of Returning to Simplicity!’

Defeating Wi Yu-gi was something that should have been impossible.

Only through a series of fortunate circumstances did they manage it.

But here stood a man who could likely match, or even exceed, Wi Yu-gi’s strength.

Yi-seon was near death, and she herself was barely hanging on.

The Human-Faced Spider had left as well, so how could she possibly take on this man?

But there was a glimmer of hope — he had immediately started treating Lee seon upon arrival.

At least for now, it didn’t seem like he intended to harm them.

Tang Ha-ryeong responded calmly.

“…No. He collapsed after fighting a demon.”

A spark of interest flickered in the man’s eyes.

He saw an undying spirit in her gaze.

“I’m aware.”

“You knew?”

“The scent of blood was heavy around this area. I noticed that you don’t carry that scent.”

The man finished speaking and lifted Lee seon in his arms.

“Stop.”

Tang Ha-ryeong stepped forward to block him.

“Stop, you say?”

The man lightly exuded his aura.

“…I can’t just stand by and watch you take him.”

Though she looked ready to collapse, she mustered all her strength and held her ground.

“What’s your relationship with him?”

“…He saved my life.”

“I see.”

The man nodded.

“I’m the one who raised him.”
