Chapter 10: What Did I Do Wrong?
I struggled desperately, shouting for help as despair almost consumed me.
“That’s enough!” In the end, Fu Mingyu kicked Liu Bin away.
I knew he hated others touching his things.
He didn’t care about me, but because he had touched me, he naturally regarded me as his most worthless possession.
I collapsed to the ground in a mess, curling up and clutching my clothes tightly.
Fu Mingyu seemed to have lost interest, his cold eyes staring at me, his voice icy. “Get the hell out of here!”
Liu Bin and the others, ever perceptive, saw Fu Mingyu was angry and all of them got up and left.
The room was left with just the two of us.
He stood up and, disgusted, kicked me. “I heard you met Wu Feng today? Are you so cheap? Did you actively offer yourself to him?”
Wu Feng was a senior from my university who had pursued me for many years and was a very good man.
That day, I went to see Wu Feng because he was going abroad for further studies.
He said he had helped me apply for a study abroad opportunity and asked me to consider it carefully. Even if I didn’t like him, it was fine. He said he admired my talent and would wait for me in M country.
Honestly, I was moved.
Fu Mingyu didn’t love me; I knew he would never marry me.
I said I would consider it carefully because at that time, I was still fantasizing about whether years of effort might lead to even a small bit of affection from Fu Mingyu.
It was that night that truly made me despair and decide to leave.
“Cheng Xi, did he touch you?” That night, Fu Mingyu was drunk and acted like a madman.
I hugged myself and did not answer.
“I’m asking you!” He kicked the coffee table in a fit of rage, glaring at me.
I was terrified, shaking my head and crying.
“I’m telling you, Cheng Xi, you’re never to see him again! Do you hear me?” He grabbed my hair, threatening me not to see any other man except him.
I nodded in fear, but he wouldn’t let up.
He looked at me with disdain in his eyes.
“Mingyu… It’s not that I told Aunt Fu I want to marry you. It was Aunt Fu who said we have a marriage agreement and asked me…” Seeing his gaze, I began to fear.
I desperately explained.
Because my shirt buttons were torn open by Liu Bin, my clothes hung in tatters off my shoulders.
I was soaked through, and at that moment, I probably seemed exceptionally filthy and worthless.
He seemed enraged and took the wine bottle from the table, pouring it over my head. “So dirty, go wash yourself properly.”
I closed my eyes in fear, allowing him to bully me.
I kept brainwashing myself that I owed him.
Tonight, I would repay it.
Tomorrow, I would apply for the opportunity to study abroad.
I wanted to leave.
I thought that after enough bullying, he would let me go, but he seemed possessed, gripping my chin and kissing me.
I thought he would find me dirty.
Every time he despised me, he never stopped tormenting me.
He touched me in the club room… he didn’t care about my feelings at all.
“Mingyu, I beg you, let’s go home, okay?”
I begged him desperately, but it was meaningless.
When the waiter came in, I huddled in his arms, terrified to the extreme.
In that moment, I felt filthy, cheap, and despicable.
“Get out!” Fu Mingyu cursed angrily.
The waiter, scared, quickly closed the door.
But I could never forget the look the waiter gave me, as if looking at a cheap prostitute.
“Fu Mingyu!” I cried out, slapping Fu Mingyu across the face. “Why are you treating me like this! What did I do wrong!”
“What did you do wrong? Yuan Yuan is still lying in the hospital. Tell me what you did wrong! Why don’t you just die, Cheng Xi!” He gripped my chin, questioning me harshly.
