I’ve Never Seen a Saint who can use Magic so Well. Chapter 42

Chapter 42

“P-Professor! W-What on earth is this?!”

Jae-woo shouted at Professor Si-hyun in a trembling voice.

What on earth is this mysterious goblin?

Jae-woo’s hands and arms, gripping his sword, were still filled with tension.

His legs were also ready to move at any moment.

He didn’t take his eyes off the terrifying goblin.

But.

The goblin didn’t move.

“Hmm…?”

Not understanding the situation, Jae-woo frowned.

At that moment, a faint chuckle tickled his ears.

Jae-woo glanced sideways at the professor.

The professor straightened her body from leaning on the podium and walked over to the goblin.

With her long, beautiful fingers, she patted the head of the menacing goblin.

The striking contrast between the goblin’s sinister appearance and the beautiful professor was intense.

Jae-woo blinked rapidly.

“It’s a model, just a model.”

The goblin still didn’t move.

“…Phew.”

Only then did Jae-woo release the tension in his body.

However, he didn’t completely let down his guard.

With cautious steps, he approached the goblin.

“Ma-may I touch it?”

“Yes, go ahead.”

With Si-hyun’s permission, Jae-woo held his sword tightly in one hand and gently tapped the goblin’s arm with his other hand.

“Ah!”

It didn’t feel like a living creature.

It was somewhat hard, probably made from something like clay or stone, he thought.

After exhaling deeply, Jae-woo dismissed his sword through the status window.

This was the first time he had ever seen such a meticulously crafted monster model.

“It’s a magic tool I commissioned from a crafting-type hunter. It’s well-made, right?”

“Y-Yes, it is.”

Jae-woo slowly nodded and backed away.

He sat in the front row seat, near the hallway, which was opposite the podium by the window.

Although he usually sat there, today, it was absolutely necessary.

He wanted to keep as much distance as possible from that terrifying goblin model.

He had no desire to be anywhere near it.

It looked that horrific and savage.

Even knowing it was just a model, it was unsettling and kept stirring up fear.

— Squeak.

The back door of the classroom opened again.

It was a signal that other students were starting to arrive one by one.

“Kyaa?!”

Areum, the second to arrive in the classroom, fell onto her bottom in shock.

She slid back to the wall, using only her arms and hips to crawl away.

Dust clung to her pants, but she had no time to care.

“…Hmm.”

Eun-byul, who entered the classroom with Areum, crossed her arms and glared at the goblin model.

She almost used her combat skill as a magic-type hunter but thankfully saw Jae-woo and Si-hyun.

Thanks to that, she avoided creating a scene with flames flying around the classroom.

Of course, that didn’t mean Eun-byul fully understood the situation.

She was trying to act calm, but her eyes were trembling slightly.

Her left foot kept tapping up and down as she tried to figure out the situation.

“P-P-Professor…?”

Finally noticing Si-hyun, Areum stood up.

She adjusted her glasses and brushed the dust off her pants.

Si-hyun lightly smiled and tapped the goblin’s head.

“It’s a moving model. Pretty well-made, right?”

Her voice was filled with playful mischief.

At Si-hyun’s words, Areum, Eun-byul, and even Jae-woo all widened their eyes.

‘It moves?’

Jae-woo looked at the goblin with his mouth slightly open.

So that’s why she mentioned it was a magic tool earlier!

…That grotesque thing can even move?

Creepy…

Jae-woo shivered, unconsciously rubbing his arms.

Goosebumps prickled across his skin.

Honestly, the model was scarier than a real goblin.

It looked truly vile.

While Jae-woo was rubbing his arms, Areum and Eun-byul took seats by the window.

They usually sat in the front row, but today they chose seats a little further back.

They were also scared of the goblin model.

It was so creepy they hated it.

Honestly, they wanted it taken out of their sight.

Regardless, Si-hyun watched the students’ reactions with enjoyment.

The members of the Wings Guild had said,

“If you instill real fear, the students won’t let their guard down around goblins in the future!”

It made a lot of sense.

That’s why she came to the classroom early and set up the goblin.

Seeing the students’ reactions made her quite satisfied.

It was worth the effort.

“Kyaa!”

“Eek!”

“Ugh!”

One by one, the students entered the classroom.

Each of them froze, screaming in shock.

And so, during the Academy’s fifth period, Introduction to Monster Studies,

The goblin model successfully terrified all fifteen young students.

Especially the students who sat in the seats near the podium trembled in fear.

While there weren’t too few seats in the classroom, there weren’t many extra seats either.

The last students to arrive had no choice but to sit near the goblin, as there were no empty seats left.

They sneaked glances at the model, wearing confused expressions.

‘Hehe, getting spooked by a single goblin.’

Si-hyun thought the students were so innocent and cute, smiling warmly to herself.

***

After finishing the attendance check, Si-hyun had a deep, contented look.

All students came to today’s lecture, and no one was late yet.

Clap! Si-hyun clapped lightly and began to speak.

“Everyone, last time, we learned various things about goblins.”

She briefly mentioned the previous lesson.

“Today, I’ll show you what real goblins look like through audiovisual materials.”

She played the pre-prepared video.

The projector displayed a dreary cave on the screen.

After confirming the video was playing properly, Si-hyun paused it for a moment.

She looked around at the students’ reactions.

Many students were staring at the goblin model rather than the screen.

‘Too well-made can be a problem too.’

Thanks to this, it seemed attention was well-focused, but it was a bit excessive.

Si-hyun hid the goblin model behind the podium.

“Phew…”

“I’m saved…”

The students who sat near the model let out sighs of relief.

The students’ gazes returned to the screen.

Nodding in satisfaction, Si-hyun resumed the video.

The beginning was nothing special.

[These people are current D-rank hunters.]

[Hello!]

[Nice to meet you!]

In the video, Si-hyun briefly introduced the men from the Wings Guild.

They began fighting the goblins.

Perhaps aware of the camera, they occasionally showed off, but the fight proceeded smoothly.

As the men finished their battle, the video also ended.

‘Today is quite ordinary.’

‘Was last week the only unusual one?’

The hunters in the video were certainly stronger than the E-rank students.

But that was all.

Students, accustomed to flashy and stimulating videos on the internet, felt no particular excitement.

Some students even started dozing off.

Since the lecture was right after lunch.

Drowsiness naturally set in.

‘After all, this is just a liberal arts class.’

Eventually, a student even laid down openly.

But that behaviour didn’t last long.

– Snap!

Si-hyun snapped her fingers lightly.

Then, the drowsiness of the sleepy students vanished as if by magic.

On the contrary, their minds became so sharp and clear it was almost disorienting.

“Uh, uh…?”

The student who had been lying down raised their head.

For some reason, the sleepiness had vanished.

Their mind was so clear that the previous drowsiness felt like a lie.

The student looked at the professor in a daze.

It felt like they could breathe better? And there was a strangely refreshing feeling?

The student rubbed their forehead and eyebrows.

With a bewildered expression, they resumed paying attention to the lecture.

Ignoring the class and laying down was no longer an option; their condition was too perfect.

“Let’s watch the next video.”

Having easily dealt with the sleepy troublemakers, Si-hyun played the next video.

And then.

“Huh…?”

“What is that?”

“Huh?”

The students’ astonishment began.

[Let me explain with this one. First—]

A furious goblin continued to attack Si-hyun in the video.

However, she kept explaining without paying any attention to it.

Frustrated that none of its attacks landed, the goblin stomped its feet in rage.

It swung its club wildly, filled with anger.

But Si-hyun didn’t even glance at the goblin.

She continued looking at the recording device, sharing the information the students needed to know.

Even then, the goblin couldn’t touch even a corner of Si-hyun’s clothes.

In the end, the goblin pointed at Si-hyun with an angry shriek.

[Kehek—!]

It looked furious.

The students watching the video had their mouths wide open.

They were so surprised they didn’t even think to close their mouths.

The fight hadn’t even started yet, but it was already at the level of a masterpiece.

“What is that? How is she dodging?”

“The professor isn’t even looking at the goblin…?”

“Is that even possible?”

[With that explanation done, I’ll now show you in action.]

Whether the students were shocked or not.

In the video, Si-hyun calmly continued her work.

Pretending to manipulate the status window, she drew her sword from the magic tool bracelet.

At that moment, the goblin swung its club again.

Si-hyun shifted slightly, effortlessly deflecting the attack.

Her sword flashed immediately after.

Swish—, thud.

With a single slash, the goblin’s head fell to the ground cleanly.

“……”

“……”

A moment of silence.

None of the students spoke.

In the video, Si-hyun calmly sheathed her sword and returned to a stable stance.

It wasn’t about showing off strength, nor were there any unnecessary movements.

It was simply fast and clean.

As video-Si-hyun began moving again.

The students took this brief pause to whisper among themselves.

“What on earth is that…?”

“Isn’t Professor Si-hyun a D-rank?”

“Wow, I heard she’s a Holy Knight, but her swordsmanship is amazing.”

The video then skipped the transition to the next area, thanks to appropriate editing.

Si-hyun encountered another group of goblins and resumed the battle.

The students’ focus was once again fixed on the screen.

Not a single student was distracted or unfocused.

Everyone was immersed in the video.

It wasn’t a time to chat.

At this moment, they had to engrave the scenes from the video into their minds, into their memory.

This wasn’t some cheap internet video made for promotion.

It was a refined, actual combat lecture video.

Si-hyun swiftly eliminated a group of goblins.

Then, out of nowhere, she returned her weapon to the magic tool, leaving her empty-handed.

[Since this is a liberal arts class, I’m sure there are students from various professions. This time, I’ll demonstrate with a spear.]

Another bombshell announcement!

But the surprises didn’t end there.

An axe, a great sword, and more. Si-hyun showcased a series of weapons she received from Da-young.

The weapons themselves were cheap ones, something even E-rank hunters could use.

But Si-hyun was the one wielding them.

With the most systematic movements suited to each weapon’s characteristics, she swept through the goblins.

Just like when she wielded a sword.

There was no flair or showing off.

She simply used the most basic movements and precise strength to deal with the enemies cleanly.

[How was that? It’s quite simple, right? You can do it too.]

– Thud!

Placing the large weapon that matched her own body size on the ground, Si-hyun spoke with a light smile.

And so, the video, which felt long but short, came to an end.
