Chapter 16
“P-please save me!!”
A strikingly beautiful woman with red hair was bawling her eyes out right in front of me.
But who was this woman, crying so pitifully while Nika held her by the nape of her neck, dangling her midair?
“Nika, who is this?”
【Master! Witch!】
“This person is the witch?”
【Yes!】
She doesn’t look the part. Is she really a witch?
Still, even crying, she’s stunning.
Her tears didn’t smudge any makeup because she wasn’t wearing any.
She looks this good naturally?
“Uh, are you okay?”
“Please save me! I’ll do anything! Just spare me!”
“…Anything?”
“Yes, anything!”
Was it because she saw a glimmer of hope? Her eyes lit up as she looked at me.
She promised to do anything if I spared her, even leaning forward to emphasize her large chest, making it hard to look anywhere else.
Still, I had to confirm something first.
“Before I got here, there was a village. What happened to the people there?”
She flinched at my question, and as soon as I called out, “Nika,” she started babbling nervously.
“T-that place was full of undead! It was an undead village! That’s why I wiped it out! I swear!”
She stammered, on the verge of tears.
I glanced at Nika, who nodded. So, she wasn’t lying?
I guess I had been prejudiced against witches.
“Ahem, then sign here.”
“Y-yes! I’ll do it! I’ll do anything, so please save me!”
I pulled out a contract I’d once obtained through random loot and handed it to her. Without even reading it, she signed immediately.
Shouldn’t she have checked it first? Isn’t that basic contract etiquette?
But what happens now?
【An anomaly has been detected.】
【Administrator approval is required.】
【The administrator has approved!】
Oh, so it works?
【Mission Complete!】
Rewards are being granted.
【10th Floor Record Achieved!】
Registered in the Hall of Fame.
【Would you like to proceed to the next floor?】
Accept / Decline
“Decline.”
【Exiting the tower.】
A brilliant light transported me back home, along with Nika and… her.
“Kyaaaah!”
After hearing that scream for a while, it started to sound like a crow’s caw. Or was that just my imagination?
Thankfully, my sister was in the hospital.
If she’d been home, she wouldn’t have let this slide.
“Where is this?!”
“My house.”
“H-huh? A house? What floor are we on?”
“Outside the tower.”
At my words, she stared blankly at me.
Suddenly, she bolted to the veranda, opened the window, and looked outside.
All she could see were blue skies and trees, yet she scanned her surroundings like she’d discovered something incredible.
“This is my first time outside the tower.”
“Really? You didn’t enter the tower?”
“I was born in the tower and lived my entire life there.”
As she gazed at the world outside in a daze, I handed her some of my sister’s clothes and told her to change. She thanked me, then started undressing right in front of me.
Panicked, I shoved her into my room.
W-what kind of woman has no sense of modesty?!
It was her first time in a man’s room.
It was unexpectedly clean—not what she’d imagined.
He must be a tidy person.
As she curiously explored the room, marveling at objects she’d never seen before, she came across a photo.
A photo of what looked like the owner as a young boy with an adorable little girl caught her eye.
“Is this your girlfriend?”
She stared intently at the photo until the owner’s answer startled her out of her thoughts. Hastily, she changed clothes and stepped outside, quickly averting her gaze.
“Uh, I’ll go out and buy some clothes for you. These are my sister’s, and they don’t fit, uh, quite right.”
“Thank you, Master.”
So that girl in the photo is his sister? They don’t look alike at all.
Wait, why is his face turning red? Is he unwell?
…When did I start calling this man Master?
W-what’s going on? How could a contract bypass my protective magic? Such a thing shouldn’t even exist!
My mind felt jumbled, and my stomach churned, but every time I looked at him, the discomfort melted away, replaced by an almost euphoric sensation.
Something… something’s wrong.
“Master… can I take another look at that contract from earlier?”
“The contract?”
The Master retrieved the contract from his inventory and handed it to me.
As our hands brushed, a tingling sensation shot through me.
Ugh, this isn’t me.
Opening the contract, I read the contents.
【Contract for the Perfect Worker in a Toxic Company】
[Having trouble finding loyal workers? Worry no more! This one contract will ensure they serve you as their Master!]
A toxic company? And a slave? Why am I feeling like this over a piece of paper?
“Are you okay? Your face is red. Do you have a fever?”
“Hngh…”
When he touched my forehead, I let out a soft whimper. He pulled back his hand, apologizing profusely, but it felt so… so good!
I wanted to throw myself into his arms, but I knew that would lead to trouble.
Floating close by, I saw the ever-watchful presence of someone guarding Master.
【Master is mine.】
“O-of course! Master belongs to Lady Nika!”
“…I belong to myself, though?”
Before I knew it, I had a new roommate.
What should I tell my sister?
If she comes home from the hospital and finds Lillian here, she might stab me on sight.
Lillian, the descendant of a witch clan, had apologized profusely for not being able to share too many details due to restrictions from the Tower.
Still, she was healing to the eyes, so… I guess I don’t mind.
“Master.”
“What is it?”
“What’s this?”
She pointed at the TV, tilting her head curiously.
When I turned it on with the remote, she marveled at it and said she wanted to take it apart to see how it worked. I barely stopped her in time.
It may look old, but it’s a precious item in our household.
Anyway, what rewards did I get for clearing the 10th floor?
Hopefully, it’s something I can sell for money.
When I opened my inventory, several items glowed brighter than expected.
There were the usual items like 【Growth Stone】 and 【Magic Stone】, but also 【Treasure of the Sea God】 and 【Transcendence Stone】.
What are these?
【Treasure of the Sea God】
[A precious treasure of the Sea God’s clan. Returning it to them will grant immense rewards and increase their favorability.]
What’s the Sea God’s clan, anyway? Some kind of fantasy trope?
Lillian might know.
I handed her the treasure, and she carefully took it with both hands.
“This is the Sea God’s treasure! They’ve been searching for this for centuries, and here it is.”
“You know the Sea God’s clan?”
“Of course! They rule the 55th floor!”
Wait, what? Korea only recently became the first country to clear the 50th floor, and now we’re talking about the 55th floor?
Forget rewards—I’d be lucky just to see their faces.
“And what about this?”
【Transcendence Stone】
[An item that allows one to surpass their limits.]
“This is a Transcendence Stone! It’s a treasure said to elevate you to the ranks of the transcendent if consumed.”
Oh, so it would be great for Nika then?
I handed the Growth Stone and the Transcendence Stone to Nika, and she swallowed them whole.
This time, instead of the usual glow, a radiant spectrum of colors shone around her.
【■■■■■ Veronica (Transcended)】
[[ An ancient being recorded in historical texts.

Danger Level: ????
Special Skills: Clone (Awakened), Protection, ■■■ Dance.
Special Mode: Nika ver. 0.5 (Unified)
Special Domains: Infernal Hell, Extreme Hell, Infinite Hell.]]
Her stats had become ridiculously flashy, with additional domains and unified modes added to her skills.
What is this?! It’s terrifying!
Where’s the Nika I knew? …Well, she was already strong to begin with.
“W-wait! Master, did you just feed her a Transcendence Stone?!”
“Of course! Isn’t it great if Nika becomes stronger?”
“Wow, you must really value Lady Nika. That stone would’ve sold for an enormous amount, though.”
“…How much are we talking?”
“Hold on.” She whispered an estimate into my ear, her fragrant scent and seductive voice making it hard to focus.
I jumped back, thanking her while fanning my flushed face.
Nika, observing us, offered her massive claws to help cool me down, which only made me panic further.
Phew. It’s not like I’m immune to women, but Lillian is… overwhelming.
Maybe I should cover her up entirely in oversized clothes?
As she gazed at me with her large, curious eyes, I realized I had another problem.
What am I going to tell my sister about her?
When one worry disappears, another one always takes its place.
This must be what life is like.
