I Got a Summoned Creature, so I’m Climbing the Tower Chapter 70

Chapter 70

They all said they were full and went into the air-conditioned camper, leaving just me, Nika, and Darami sitting in chairs, blankly gazing out at the sea.

“The sea in this world is truly beautiful.”

“Did your world have a sea, too, Darami?”

“It did. But it was much more dangerous than this place.”

Apparently, the sea in Darami’s world was teeming with monsters, and even approaching it meant bracing for a breath attack.

What on earth lived there?

And yet, it still perished…

Bringing this up any further seemed like it would only make Darami uncomfortable, so I closed my mouth and continued gazing blankly at the sea.

That’s when Nika suddenly flew up.

“What’s wrong?”

【It’s coming.】

“What’s coming?”

The instant she said that, a chill ran down my spine, and I looked out beyond the sea. Something was flying toward us from the sky?

Sensing the shift, my sister and the others poured out of the camper, led by Cha Mi-rin.

“What’s going on?!”

“Look over there.”

When I pointed beyond the sea, something came into view. A helicopter?

As it came closer, it was indeed a helicopter. But the person waving at us from inside looked strangely familiar.

As it approached, Cha Mi-rin’s trembling voice broke the silence.

“S-sister…?”

Did she just say sister? Cha Mi-rin only has one sister.

The chairwoman of the Korean Awakener Association and S-rank Hunter, Cha Yuri.

The helicopter hovered directly above us before the door opened, and Cha Yuri leaped out.

“Kya-ha-ha! Freedom!”

She landed with a boisterous shout.

No, wait—why is someone who’s supposed to be in Korea here?!

“Can you explain what on earth is going on?”

“Huh? Explain what?”

“Swallow what’s in your mouth before you talk.”

Cha Yuri mumbled and avoided my gaze, clearly trying to dodge the question.

Why on earth is she here?

“Vacation!”

“The chairwoman is on vacation?! Go back immediately!”

“Nope!”

She protested loudly, holding a skewer in one hand and a beer in the other.

Was this her usual image?

When I glanced at Lillian, she smiled brightly—somehow making the scene even scarier.

“Do you think she needs more training?”

“…….”

In a rush, Cha Yuri swallowed her skewer, reached into her pocket, and handed me a letter.

“I actually came to deliver this.”

“In person?”

“I figured I’d enjoy a bit of vacation while I’m here.”

“You’re remarkably honest.”

“Honesty is my middle name.”

Taking the letter, I watched her dive back into her skewer like a predator. Good thing we made plenty.

When I nodded at Lillian, she smirked and led my sister and the Heavenly Demon back into the camper.

When did those three become so close?

“Eat and then leave.”

“No!”

“Stop stealing my beer and just go home.”

“So that’s your real motive!”

Their sibling-like banter was on full display. I wish they wouldn’t.

More importantly, who sent this letter?

Mr. Joe?

Who’s that supposed to be, some geek?

“Who is Mr. Joe?”

“You don’t know? He’s the most famous Hunter in America.”

“I don’t really care about American Hunters.”

“Well… he’s one of the most famous Hunters ever….”

She then pulled out a tablet from her pocket—was that connected to a pocket dimension? She seemed to have everything in there.

“Here, take a look at this.”

I accepted the tablet and checked the screen. It showed a brawny giant with muscles bulging and, next to him, a petite blonde girl who looked like a doll.

“Is Mr. Joe the big guy?”

“Nope, the petite girl next to him.”

“…….”

Why? Just why?! Isn’t the name “Mr. Joe” misleading?!

“Her real name is “Joy.””

“What does that have to do with “Mr.”?!”

“She thought it sounded cool and started using it.”

“Wait, she’s 20, right?”

“Yes!”

She didn’t look it at all, though. How is that 20?! That’s… legal?

“So, what does she want with me?”

“She said she really wants to meet and spar with you. You’re famous as a Summoner, and so is Hunter Joy.”

Ah, so the muscular giant next to her must be her summoned creature.

Still, our Nika is the cutest and coolest in the world.

“Nika, don’t look at this.”

I covered Nika’s eyes as she peeked curiously at the tablet.

Nope, not happening.

“So, when should we schedule the meeting?”

“Please decline.”

“Huh? Decline?”

“It’s too bothersome.”

Meeting people was already exhausting enough for me. I didn’t want to increase that burden further.

For me, social interactions drained my energy. And with the number of people I’d been meeting recently, it was overwhelming.

I just needed a break.

At a skyscraper high enough to overlook the city forest, I was sipping grape juice, which looked like wine, trying to set the mood when I heard a knock on the door.

“Come in.”

The door opened, and my secretary entered with some documents.

“Joy, the matter you asked about has been handled.’

“So? When’s the date?”

As I raised my wine glass to take a sip of my grape juice, the secretary’s cheerful voice chimed in.

“They declined.”

“Cough! Cough!”

Caught off guard, I choked and started coughing violently. My secretary gently wiped my mouth with a handkerchief.

No, I didn’t need this! I needed an explanation!

“Why did they decline?! Don’t they know how much of an honor it is to meet me?!”

“They just declined.”

“But why?!”

“I’m not sure.”

My secretary’s composed expression was infuriating.

If she weren’t the nanny who had raised me since I was young, I might have fired her on the spot.

“Ha, fine. It wouldn’t be fun if it were too easy, right?”

“By the way, Miss, didn’t I tell you not to drink grape juice at night? You don’t even brush your teeth properly afterward.”

“D-don’t bring that up now! And I do brush properly!”

“Don’t lie. I noticed there wasn’t even a drop of water on your toothbrush yesterday.”

A shiver ran down my spine.

Wait, how did she know that?!

“You check things like that?”

“I check everything about you, Miss. Like the teddy bear panties I put out this morning….”

“Aah! Stop talking!”

I covered her mouth with my hands. While she didn’t resist, her expression was… odd.

“What’s with that face now?”

“Mmm mmm.”

“Kya-ha-ha! That tickles!”

When I removed my hands, she looked at me with disappointment. Why?

“Your hands are so soft, Miss.”

“…Say something like that again, and I’ll really fire you.”

“That’s too much, Miss. When you were little, you said you wanted to marry me.”

“I never said that! Stop spouting nonsense and go schedule the meeting! Before I storm in myself!”

“Understood.”

Bowing her head, the secretary left the room.

She was truly terrifying.

After finishing a blissful camping trip, I returned to the hotel and gathered my sister, Lillian, and the Heavenly Demon.

It was time to challenge the 55th floor.

“It’s been a while since we entered the Tower.”

“Indeed.”

“It has been some time.”

Of course, it had been just me, Nika, and Darami clearing the floors dominated by the Barbarians.

This time, I decided I’d let others take the lead, but it seemed unnecessary.

Didn’t Hunter Han Ye-rin say they were a race friendly to humans?

“Alright, let’s go. Entering now.”

【Entering the Tower.】

As we reached the massive entrance of the Tower and opened the doors, a message appeared.

【Would you like to enter the 55th floor?】

Accept / Decline

“Accept!”

【Entering the 55th floor.】

【Entering the territory of the Sea God’s Race, rulers of the 55th to 58th floors.】

───────────────

【55th Floor Mission: Pass the Sea God’s Trial!】

【Time Limit: None.】

【Restrictions: None.】

【Equipment Restrictions: None.】

【Regulations: None.】

───────────────

I took Han Ye-rin’s word for it and entered, but it didn’t take long to realize how wrong that was.

“A-ah, demons! The demons are invading!”

“Kyaaa! Mother! Mother!!”

“Oh, ancestors above, please save us….”

The Sea God’s Race was in full-blown panic.

What’s their problem?

“No, we’re not invading! We’re just climbing!”

I tried to correct them, but it was useless.

They continued fleeing in terror, and soon warriors of the Sea God’s Race surrounded us.

“Demons! You’ve brought the demon of destruction to invade our land!”

They stared at Lillian, their pupils trembling, and even dropped their spears as they pointed at her.

“A witch! The witch is invading!”

At that, the chaos escalated far beyond what it had been earlier.

What in the world was going on?!
