The Military Veteran Elementary School Girl’s Journey to the Throne Chapter 35

Chapter 35

“Wendy! Wendy! Where are you?”

Muriela called out the name of the only wind spirit she knew, Wendy, after a long time.

“Huh? Isn’t Wendy one of the spirits your grandmother used to summon? I think I read about it in a storybook. So you named her after that, huh?”

Kaelen, the grandfather enthusiast, jumped in without missing a beat.

“Hey, be quiet. You’re distracting her.”

In truth, it wasn’t that calling out would make the spirit hear better, but since very few people knew about spirit magic, it wasn’t too surprising that Alfred thought it would work.

“Wendy!”

Muriela repeatedly called the name of the wandering spirit, but no matter how long she waited, nothing happened.

The truth was, after Aiorin escaped from the village and began traveling to the capital, causing mischief along the way, Wendy had found it so amusing that she temporarily left Muriela’s side to watch that.

Of course, she didn’t speak to the elf grandmother who had branded her a traitor.

Now, Aiorin had plenty of spirits around her, so it didn’t feel dangerous for Wendy to leave her side.

Wendy, who had become fond of secretly observing Aiorin from a distance, had developed a new hobby.

The years of boredom when Aiorin was stuck in the Fey Forest couldn’t compare to how interesting things were now.

Muriela’s desperate cries eventually reached Wendy, who had been so far away that it took quite some time for her to arrive.

Solinor, who didn’t know this, was understandably flustered.

“If only you called her more often to check! She left because you weren’t calling her enough and got bored!”

But spirits weren’t limited to just Wendy, and there were plenty of low-ranking spirits wandering around Muriela’s vicinity.

However, in her panic, Muriela failed to think about that simple solution.

Solinor, momentarily overwhelmed by Muriela’s desperate emotions, was struggling to figure out a proper response.

“Wendy? Where are you?”

After many attempts and still no response, Muriela sulked, blaming the wind spirit.

“Heehee… Where did Wendy go?”

Meanwhile, people were starting to murmur, shocked by the spirit incident attempted by the eight-year-old princess. “Spirit Princess Co. goes bankrupt! Will investors get their money back?”

At that moment, Solinor, who had barely pushed away his despair and regained control of his mind, attempted to resolve the situation.

“Ah, Wendy must have just gone somewhere for a bit! She’ll be back soon.”

But just as he said this, Queen Elodia approached and looked at Muriela with pity in her eyes.

“Muriela, it’s okay to be honest. You were just trying to gloss over it earlier, right? It’s fine. You don’t need spirits or anything. Our Muriela is already special enough.”

Following her, the comforting words of Muriela’s siblings came.

“Well, you’re such a special little one that I had high hopes. Yeah, I get it. When you’re young, you always think you’re the most special, wanting all the attention.”

“Oh, you know how to say nice things to the kids? But you’re right. Muriela, don’t worry too much. Even without spirits, I’m sure there’s a way to save Katrina and Brandon.”

“Yeah, yeah! Muriela is still amazing! I’ve learned so much from you!”

“Miss Muriela! Even without spirits, you’re the smartest in our team. You don’t have to lie about it!”

However, for Solinor, it was all a crushing blow.

“No, no! It’s going to turn into a story where I’m just a child bragging because I want attention!”

“Dammit. Wendy, wherever you are, come back already!” Solinor muttered, vowing revenge.

At that moment, something floating in Muriela’s sight caught Solinor’s attention. Huh? Is that a wind spirit? It looks different from Wendy.

“Hey! Wind spirit passing by! Can you come over here?”

Muriela, acting like an adorable little princess summoning a spirit, called out, but her tone was more like a street thug challenging a passerby. Still, the spirit heard her and approached.

“Muriela, you didn’t need to do that.”

“No! This time, she really came! Spirit! Can you show yourself to others as well?”

Before the words were even out of her mouth, a large insect-like figure appeared faintly in the air.

“Wow! Muriela wasn’t lying!”

“I’ve never seen anything like this! Wow, Muriela, you’re really amazing!”

“Oh my, Muriela, I’m sorry for doubting you. Is this a spirit?”

“What is this? It looks like some sort of insect. Hey, did it look like this in the storybook? Try saying what you know about it.”

“No, the storybook I read said it was something mysterious and hard to describe. I never read about a spirit that looks like an insect. But I can’t say there’s only one kind of spirit appearance, because the types of spirits Grandma could handle were…”

“Wait a minute, I’ll talk to the spirit. Please be quiet for a moment.”

Muriela, having successfully summoned a spirit, now held the power to command the people around her.

As soon as she spoke, everyone, who had been chattering excitedly, immediately stopped and became still, gazing at Muriela and the spirit with wide eyes.

Of course, except for Queen Elodia, they were all still children, so it wasn’t surprising that they were in awe of the spirit they had only heard of in stories, seeing it for the first time.

And even Elodia, the oldest, was still quite young herself. To King Eldric, she might have seemed like a hopelessly ruined woman, but in truth, Elodia was still vibrant and full of life.

“Hmm, spirit. What’s your name?”

‘I don’t have a name yet, Spirit Master.’

“No name?”

‘Yes. I’ve only recently been promoted.’

Though the people around her couldn’t hear the spirit’s words, whenever the spirit responded, they noticed its body gently swaying, and small exclamations of awe were heard. Of course, this was soon followed by a “Shh!” as they were urged to stay quiet.

“What does ‘promotion’ mean?”

‘It means being reborn as a higher-level spirit with a personality, instead of just a simple spirit without one.’

“Then, can I give you a name?”

‘Would you really? That would be an honor.’

Solinor, after thinking about a suitable name for the wind spirit, decided to open it up for suggestions.

“Hey, I need to give a name to the wind spirit. Any good ideas? If anyone has one, speak up.”

“Wind spirit? How about Sylph? Does Sylph sound good?”

“No! Storm! Storm sounds better, Muriela!”

“Hehe, sounds like we’re naming a pet. With the way it looks, how about Breezefly?”

“If we’re talking about the names Grandma used for her spirits…”

“Hey, who cares about names? Let’s just choose one quickly and move on to the strategy meeting to save the kids.”

Various suggestions came up, but in the end, it was decided:

“I’ll go with Zephyr. Zephyr, I’m Princess Muriela. Let’s work well together!”

‘I’ll be Zephyr from now on. Princess Muriela, I’ll be in your care as well.’

If she was going to decide it on her own, why did she even ask for suggestions in the first place?

For someone like Solinor, who prided himself on listening to people’s opinions, this was a surprising act of dictatorship. But what could he do? The perfect name just came to him.

While a few people were slightly dissatisfied since their suggestions weren’t considered, that wasn’t important right now.

Now, they needed to understand the spirit’s abilities to create a plan.

“Zephyr, what can you do?”

‘I don’t quite understand. What can I do? I can do anything Princess Muriela commands.’

Ah, spirits were like this.

Solinor hadn’t considered this blind spot. Like Wendy, these spirits didn’t think like humans.

So, the only way to figure it out was to ask what was needed first and then check if the spirit could do it.

“Spirits seem to struggle with questions like this. I think we need to come up with a rough plan and then ask if Zephyr can do it.”

“Yeah? Well, things are getting more complicated…”

While they were debating, finally, Wendy, who had been observing Aiorin, the mischievous elf grandmother, arrived at the scene.

‘Hey, crazy, no, Muriela! I’m here! Huh?’

Wendy, seeing Muriela chatting with a different wind spirit, looked on in surprise.

What will happen with this wind incident?
