Chapter 129
“It wasn’t my imagination.”
The Nameless Demon—no, Satan—frowned deeply.
The one who had stood out most among the humans when he sent the terrified monsters after them.
The one with the troublesome ability that he had glimpsed through Arte’s memories.
By coincidence or fate, he had learned from the wolves’ reports that the person was wandering in the depths of the forest, and he headed there immediately.
As if on a date, the unpleasant black-haired individual was strolling through the forest with a woman.
While the hair color was similar to that of the person from before, the ability seemed different, as the individual hadn’t noticed Satan’s close proximity at all.
At first, Satan had thought of merely testing the human’s skills lightly.
After all, he wasn’t in perfect condition himself, having spent days sharing his power with the monsters of the Northern Mountains.
But somehow, the fight grew increasingly fierce and serious.
“Nowhere near that person, though.”
Thinking of that individual, Satan subconsciously clutched his throbbing chest as he sat down.
It had been so long ago that he could barely remember, but it was the same person who had sealed him.
Just moments ago, the leader of the Black Shadow Corps, Ryu Yeong, had used the exact same ability as that person.
The power to freely manipulate space without any movement of mana.
Of course, Ryu Yeong didn’t seem to handle space as freely as that individual had.
“If left unchecked, it’ll be dangerous.”
The longer the fight went on, the more Satan’s instincts screamed at him.
If left alone, that person named Ryu Yeong would undoubtedly grow to be as strong as the one from before.
“Click.”
Satan clicked his tongue in displeasure, his expression growing darker.
To feel the sensation and sound of space itself being severed and erased so quickly again.
It was a technique he couldn’t figure out how to counter, no matter how hard he tried.
Ultimately, it had been that very ability that cornered him in the final battle, leading to his defeat.
And now, as soon as he awoke, there was someone else wielding the same ability right in front of him.
The more Satan thought about it, the worse he felt.
What cruel trick of fate was this?
Clench—
In the empty cave, Satan clenched his fist so tightly that his fingers turned white.
The black-haired man from long ago.
Crescent.
While Satan had been sealed and stripped of his name by Crescent, the latter had claimed victory and even built a nation named after himself.
At the time, Satan had felt an insurmountable wall in Crescent.
No matter what he tried, no matter what he did, it felt like he could never defeat Crescent.
And in truth, Crescent always faced him with a relaxed demeanor.
While Satan struggled with all his might to bring Crescent down, the latter always seemed to enjoy their battles as if they were mere games.
And yet, he was unimaginably strong.
“Sigh…”
Since his resurrection, Satan had only thought about Crescent when he heard the name “Crescent Empire.”
But after encountering Ryu Yeong, Crescent had been constantly on his mind.
A thoroughly unpleasant situation.
“I need to act quickly.”
Perhaps it was because he had recognized Ryu Yeong’s potential.
Originally, he had planned to take his time and enjoy a world where Crescent no longer existed, but his thoughts had changed.
Satan unclenched his fist and leaned back into his soft chair made of wolf pelts.
Once Arte, his smartest subordinate, returned from completing her tasks, Satan decided it was time for him to take action personally.
“I’ll handle him before he can grow.”
Satan’s eyes gleamed sharply.
***
Flap—
A massive wyvern, several times the size of a regular one, flapped its wings and soared through the air.
Wyverns, creatures ranked high in the monster food chain.
A saddle was strapped to the body of the massive wyvern, and someone was riding on its back.
“Ahhh…”
Arte let out an excited sigh as she felt the cool breeze atop the wyvern.
The omnipotent feeling of looking down from the sky while riding a wyvern was incomparable to anything else.
Her chest pounded, and her knees trembled with excitement as she took in the surroundings.
Flap—
Hundreds of wyverns were flying in formation, centering around the massive wyvern Arte was riding.
Looking down, there were not only wyverns but also other monsters moving forward in perfectly aligned formations.
Trolls with black skin instead of their usual colors, orcs with black skin instead of green.
All the monsters, without exception, bore black hues.
The monsters were advancing in disciplined ranks, as though under someone’s command.
“These creatures are on a whole different level than the ones I created!”
Arte, perched atop the massive wyvern, was the one controlling the thousands of monsters.
All these monsters, under her command, would willingly throw themselves into fire and death at her orders.
Monsters empowered by Satan’s might.
Since they were living beings, they were fundamentally different from the creatures Arte had previously created.
As living entities, their physical abilities were on a completely different level from those of dead or artificially created bodies.
Moreover, these monsters had received Satan’s bestowed power.
“They’ve all grown far stronger than before.”
Even the wyvern Arte was riding was proof of that.
Among the wyverns, the one most capable of accepting Satan’s power had not only grown to an enormous size but also gained the ability to use a breath attack, which ordinary wyverns couldn’t perform.
Satan seemed to find the creature praiseworthy and had given it special treatment.
“This is the start of the revolution!”
The place Arte was leading thousands of monsters to was the gathering spot of the human coalition forces.
In the northern regions of the continent, human coalition forces always existed to block the southern advance of monsters.
Among them, a coalition recently formed by an idealistic and foolish organization called “Peace” was stationed in the north.
An organization that had gathered to prevent Satan’s resurrection.
“Fufufu.”
Arte let out a chuckle filled with excitement as she spotted the coalition forces’ camp in the distance.
Although the process hadn’t been entirely smooth, the conclusion would be as expected.
With Satan’s resurrection and his power, they would bring a new wind of revolution to the Arkaria Continent.
Soon, humans would live under Satan’s rule, experiencing true peace, not the idealistic and foolish “peace” they currently pursued.
Flap—
[Everyone halt at the barrier.]
Arte sent the command simultaneously to the thousands of monsters in her mind.
The monsters, including the wyvern she was riding, acknowledged her orders with signals of their own.
Arte felt her heart race again at the sight but barely managed to suppress it.
Now was not the time to revel in such thrills.
It was time to carry out Satan’s commands.
Although they had set out at dawn, the surroundings had already begun to brighten.
This was precisely the timing Arte had hoped for.
To strike fear into the hearts of humans, the rising sun would illuminate the hundreds of wyverns covering the skies.
Flap—
The massive wyvern flying at the forefront came to a halt, and the countless monsters following it stopped as well.
A swarm of wyverns blanketed the sky.
As expected, the human coalition forces could only look up at the sky, unable to react.
Now it was Arte’s turn.
“Ahhh.”
Arte’s voice, amplified and echoing loudly, reverberated around her.
Confirming that the amplification magic was working perfectly, Arte continued speaking with a smile.
“Humans, listen well.”
As Arte began to speak, all the monsters ceased their movements, creating a profound silence.
Though it was early morning with the sun just rising, countless people stood atop the walls of the coalition fortress.
Satisfied to see so many humans gathered, Arte resumed speaking with a pleased expression.
“Your mission has already failed.”
“The Nameless Demon—no, Satan—has been resurrected.”
As the murmuring among the humans grew louder, Arte quickly continued.
“The merciful Satan has decided to give humans an opportunity. In three days, if you surrender, you can usher in a new era without bloodshed.”
Murmur, murmur—
The murmurs among the humans grew louder as Arte finished speaking.
Although she had delivered Satan’s message, Arte’s task wasn’t over.
Satan had commanded her not only to deliver the message but also to demonstrate the might of Satan’s army.
[Destroy only the barrier ahead of you.]
Screech—!
At the same time Arte issued her command to the monsters, the massive wyvern she was riding let out a deafening roar.
Its thick neck rippled as it opened its mouth, spewing a dark energy outward.
Simultaneously, countless monsters on the ground launched their own ranged attacks toward the coalition’s barrier.
For a brief moment, chaos unfolded.
Craaack—
The sound of something shattering resounded powerfully.
The barrier that had encircled the coalition forces’ camp began to break apart.
It wasn’t just a small breach like before.
The enormous dome-shaped barrier crumbled entirely, its size too vast to estimate.
“The deadline is three days.”
Arte’s final warning echoed even louder than before.
