Chapter 42
The double event was finally reaching its final stage, and it was now time for the bride to make her entrance for the wedding.
By this point, Kasper and Adeline were on the verge of dozing off while standing.
It was no easy task to be dragged to an event they had no interest in and forced to just stand there.
Meanwhile, Solinor, who had noticed the approach of many spirits, was intently watching the direction Zephyr was pointing.
On the podium set up there stood a woman he was seeing for the first time.
Her golden hair and large figure somewhat reminded him of his former wife, Aiorin, but her face was entirely different.
Yet why did she feel so incredibly familiar?
“Presenting Her Majesty, the Sixth Queen—”
In a world without microphones, the royal ceremonial officer’s strained cry seemed to slow time itself into a surreal, slow-motion flow.
Within that slowed moment, Solinor felt the woman looking directly at him.
And around her, he could clearly see various spirits.
Even Wendy was there.
He didn’t need to rub his eyes; it wasn’t an illusion!
“What? Why is she with Wendy? She’s not even an elf, so how is she commanding so many spirits?”
His head was filled with countless questions.
The woman, too, appeared to be looking at him with a confused expression.
And why wouldn’t she? Aiorin, disguised as the Sixth Queen, was clearly bewildered as well.
“Wendy! Are you sure that’s the princess my husband is having an affair with?”
“I don’t know what an affair is, but anyway, that’s who I mentioned before.”
She kept confirming with Wendy, who had returned repentantly after her betrayal.
Aiorin was equally confused as she looked at Muriela’s appearance.
There was something between her husband and this girl.
The scent of his soul was all over her, as if they were soulmates.
This kind of strong connection wasn’t formed from a single meeting.
It had to be the result of something repeated.
But. But. But.
“She’s just a child!”
Sure, she could somewhat understand an affair. Though, actually, she couldn’t.
She could even somewhat understand if it was an affair with a granddaughter. Again, not really.
But this? This was unacceptable.
“You filthy, pedophilic husband!”
Breaking both morality and humanity was one thing, but this?
How could he do that with a child who was practically still a baby?
This was utterly unforgivable! Though she wasn’t sure how she’d punish him yet.
Aiorin trembled with rage as anger surged through her.
They say it’s rare for elves to get angry, but she and her mother were exceptions.
Meanwhile, King Eldric and the Sixth Queen made their entrance together, and among the audience, some figures displayed suspicious movements.
These individuals were none other than radical political activists who wished to overthrow Eldric’s regime.
They had been waiting for this day for a long time.
A day when King Eldric, after years of avoiding public appearances, finally showed himself before the people.
In recent years, even the Founding Day parades had been canceled, leaving no opportunities to act.
He hadn’t appeared at all, leaving everything to the bureaucrats while staying behind the scenes.
But this year was different.
There, in plain sight, was the king.
Even though he usually ignored everything, they had guessed he’d appear for something as significant as the Founding Day and wedding festivities—and they were right.
The problem, however, was the threatening presence of soldiers and the king’s guards, lined up in formidable rows.
Their polished armor exuded power, intimidating the activists.
But with bombs in hand, there was no turning back now.
There would be no changes to the plan.
In truth, even if they succeeded in assassinating Eldric, they had no ability to replace the regime.
They were merely venting their frustrations, aiming to kill him out of sheer rage.
At this point, calling them a radical political group was too generous. They were just madmen.
No matter how much they resented the king’s poor governance or how widespread the dissatisfaction was, there should at least have been some alternatives proposed!
If a sudden power vacuum occurred, it was certain that internal and external forces would exploit it, plunging the nation into deeper chaos.
In the end, it would only worsen the suffering of the people.
But who cared about that?
They were madmen because they didn’t care.
One activist, clutching the bomb close to their chest, began to approach the podium.
But many of the knights had already noticed their suspicious movements.
And the spirits, ever vigilant, had picked up on it too!
“A tyrant who sucks the blood of the people, Eldric! Die!”
Even so, the activist acted quickly before the knights could react.
Shouting a surprisingly short and concise slogan, they swung their arm with all their might.
But no fiery death ever landed near the king.
“Your Majesty! Get down!”
A knight, shouting loudly, leapt to embrace the king and dragged him to the inner part of the podium, clearly alarmed.
Why isn’t anything happening?
There was no explosion, nor did they even see the bomb itself.
Of course, it was Aiorin’s doing.
The crude, amateurish explosives created with minimal knowledge by those fools were intercepted mid-air by Wendy the moment they were thrown.
Using her wind spirit abilities, Wendy quickly created a vacuum around the fuse and extinguished the fire.
“Good job. I noticed that guy looked suspicious from the start.”
Proud of her successful mission, Wendy looked triumphantly at Muriela’s face.
“See? This is what I’m capable of. You’ll regret abandoning me, you crazy princess.”
Of course, what Wendy just accomplished wasn’t particularly impressive, and Muriela hadn’t abandoned her in the first place.
Meanwhile, chaos erupted at the podium as knights tackled the culprit.
Soon, the perpetrator, his arms tightly bound with rope, was dragged out.
He was a young man with no particularly remarkable traits.
The event was naturally suspended, and the audience was forbidden from leaving until further investigation was conducted.
The king, the new queen, and all the royal family members returned to the Royal Palace, while the ceremonial officer being dragged away by a knight gritted his teeth and cursed his subordinates.
“I told them to thoroughly search everyone entering! Those useless fools!”
As expected, the incompetent bureaucrats of Silbrenoa lived up to their reputation.
And so, the critical double event ended anticlimactically.
In fact, Eldric saw this as the perfect excuse to skip future events.
And, of course, to have some fun with his new queen in bed.
A terrorist attack or not, he’d waited long enough, and there were things that needed doing.
He was so aroused during the event that it was starting to hurt.

Aiorin was lost in thought.
She had entered the Royal Palace, but she still hadn’t found Solinor.
At this rate, she’d end up meeting her clueless son, who wouldn’t even recognize his own mother and would likely get aroused instead.
Disappearing quickly was her priority.
Of course, hiding herself wasn’t a challenge for her.
What else were her spirit powers for?
With the help of several wind spirits distorting the space around her, making herself invisible was easy.
The real problem was convincing the still-young Princess Muriela.
Should she demand, “Hand over your boyfriend”?
Or declare, “I’m your grandmother”?
“How do I find Solinor?”
After pondering for a while, she decided to act first.
After all, she and Solinor were destined soulmates.
In an instant, Aiorin melted into the space around her, vanishing completely.
The servants who came to fetch her were shocked, but so what? That wasn’t her problem.
As she slipped out of the room like a ghost through the door they’d opened, the panicked cries of the servants echoed behind her.
“His Majesty ordered her to be brought immediately!”
Soon, following the intense scent of her soulmate Solinor’s spirit, Aiorin arrived at Muriela’s quarters.
Hovering outside the window, she decided to observe for now.
Through the sturdier security measures installed on the windows after the last incident, Aiorin could see the princess and her two maids.
“Princess! We heard about the terrorist attack! We’re so relieved you weren’t hurt. You must have been so scared!”
“Princess, it’s a relief to see you safe.”
“It was nothing. It wasn’t even dangerous. The guy threw something strange, but it didn’t even explode.”
Smiling brightly, the princess showed no signs of being shaken.
In fact, she was glad the event ended early, sparing her the boredom of standing around.
“Hmm. She seems kind and pretty. Just as expected of my granddaughter. But no matter how I look at her, she doesn’t seem to have the charm to seduce my husband.
“He likes… big chests.”
The moment it became apparent that Eldric’s preferences were genetic?
“Actually, putting all that aside, she’s just a child. I don’t get it at all. Wendy, Sylphir, Gale, don’t you think so too?”
Aiorin sought agreement from her three wind spirits.
But spirits had no interest in human appearances, so their indifferent responses left her disappointed.
Still, she decided to continue observing.
Before long, the conversation ended, and the two maids bowed and left the room.
Princess Muriela let out a deep sigh, changed into her pajamas, and dove into bed.
Her playful motion was childlike but precise, landing as gracefully as a seasoned martial artist would.
Soon after, she fell asleep, softly breathing.
This was the opportunity Aiorin had been waiting for.
With the combined strength of the three spirits, the enhanced security measures fell apart effortlessly.
How long would the poor window of Muriela’s room endure its misfortunes?
