I Got Lucky and Picked up the Imperial Jade Seal? Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Tang City Antique Market, outside a certain bank.

“Xiao Cheng, you have a real talent. Your grandfather spent half his life in this business and never came across such a great find,” said an elderly man in his sixties or seventies, dressed in a traditional Chinese Tang suit, his hair a mix of gray and white.

Standing next to him was a young man in his twenties, holding a protective box in his hands. A smile spread across his handsome face. “I was just lucky,” he said.

The elderly man nodded. “Let’s go, I’ll transfer the money to you. I really can’t handle this new mobile payment stuff.”

Jiang Cheng’s eyes lit up with anticipation. He had just graduated from college not long ago. A few days ago, his grandfather, who had raised him, was tricked by others, causing him to die of anger and grief. His grandfather’s dying wish was for Jiang Cheng to inherit the family’s long-struggling, nearly bankrupt antique shop and make it flourish. He had also left a red orb for Jiang Cheng, telling him to sell it as startup capital.

Jiang Cheng couldn’t ignore his grandfather’s last wish. So, even though he knew nothing about antique appraisal, he returned to the Antique Market to give it a try.

What he never expected was that the red orb left by his grandfather was not an ordinary item. It fused into his left eye, causing a mysterious change.

This change gave Jiang Cheng hope that he could not only revive the family shop but also achieve a massive fortune, allowing him to realize the dream he had once given up on.

Relying on his left eye, Jiang Cheng found his first great bargain today and found a buyer, Yang Yao, the owner of a major store in the Antique Market.

The two walked into the bank. Yang Yao was a VIP customer here, and a staff member quickly greeted him, calling out sweetly, “Mr. Yang, please take a seat. How can I assist you today?”

Halfway through her sentence, the staff member noticed Jiang Cheng and exclaimed in surprise, “Jiang Cheng?”

Hearing this, Jiang Cheng looked closely at the staff member. She was wearing the standard bank uniform: a short-sleeved white shirt that was snug around her chest, accentuating her slim arms.

Her lower body was clad in a tight, black pencil skirt, which hugged her round and firm hips, creating an alluring curve. The skirt ended slightly above her knees, showing off her long, slender legs encased in flesh-colored stockings. She wore glossy black high heels, with slight wrinkles appearing on the edges of her stockings at her feet, catching the eye.

The woman’s face was also quite beautiful, with a classic oval shape, large eyes, a high nose bridge, and perfectly curved red lips. The crowning touch was a beauty mark at the corner of her eye, giving her a very alluring look.

“Qi Linlin? You work here?” Jiang Cheng recognized her as his university classmate and the goddess whom his dorm mate Liu Zijie had admired since childhood.

Qi Linlin responded, “Yes, I’ve been interning here since my junior year. I never expected to run into you here. Do you work nearby?”

Jiang Cheng casually replied, “No, my family’s shop is here.”

“Oh? You’re in the antique business?” Qi Linlin’s eyes brightened slightly.

“Kind of.”

After a few more pleasantries, Qi Linlin remembered Yang Yao was still waiting. She quickly apologized in a low voice and asked him what business he needed to handle.

Yang Yao gave the two a knowing smile and said, “I’m here for a transfer, one hundred and fifty thousand.”

“Alright.” Qi Linlin maintained her professional smile and asked, “Mr. Yang, could you please provide the recipient’s bank account number?”

Yang Yao glanced at Jiang Cheng. “Ask him. I’ll be transferring to him.”

Qi Linlin blinked her charming eyes and curiously looked at Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng’s expression remained mostly unchanged as he provided his bank account number. Qi Linlin was quite skilled at her job, and the transfer was completed quickly.

After Jiang Cheng confirmed the funds were received, he handed the protective box to Yang Yao with a smile. “Mr. Yang, it’s a pleasure doing business with you.”

Yang Yao took the box with a grin and replied, “Haha, the pleasure is mine. You are now the owner of Nabao Pavilion. I should start calling you Boss Jiang.”

“Oh, please, just call me Xiao Cheng. It sounds more endearing.”

The two exchanged pleasantries.

Qi Linlin couldn’t contain her curiosity. Looking at the protective box, she leaned closer to Jiang Cheng’s ear and whispered, “Hey, did you sell an antique to Mr. Yang? A hundred and fifty thousand, that’s not cheap. How much did you earn?”

She was a bit too close, and her warm breath brushed against Jiang Cheng’s ear, making him feel slightly hot. After all, he was still a young man with a fiery temperament. He moved back slightly and answered, “Yes, it was an antique, but I didn’t earn much.”

Before Qi Linlin could respond, Yang Yao laughed and said, “You little rascal, stop being so modest. You bought it for three hundred and sold it for one hundred and fifty thousand, and you call that not much?”

“What? Bought it for three hundred?” Qi Linlin’s alluring eyes widened.

Jiang Cheng hadn’t expected Yang Yao to reveal this detail. He could only smile awkwardly, at a loss for words.

Yang Yao looked at the time, patted Jiang Cheng on the shoulder, and said, “It’s getting late. I need to head back. You have a real talent, kid. Just stick to the antique business; I see a bright future ahead of you.”

After Yang Yao left, Jiang Cheng also prepared to leave, but unexpectedly, Qi Linlin called out to him, “Hey, it’s been quite a while since we last met. How about having lunch together?” It was lunchtime.

Jiang Cheng hesitated. Qi Linlin was the goddess his roommate Liu Zijie had admired for many years. By all accounts, he should keep his distance, and having lunch alone with her didn’t seem appropriate.

“We were college classmates after all, weren’t we? You just made some money, and you can’t even treat me to a meal?” Qi Linlin teased with a charming smile.

At this point, Jiang Cheng couldn’t say no and had to nod in agreement.

Qi Linlin didn’t have a long lunch break, so she didn’t change out of her work uniform. Wearing her high heels, she followed Jiang Cheng out of the bank. They found a moderately priced restaurant nearby.

They chose a seat by the window, sat facing each other, and after ordering, Qi Linlin took the initiative to ask, “Why did you suddenly open an antique shop? I never heard you had any expertise in appraising antiques.”

Jiang Cheng replied, “It’s my family’s business. I guess you could say I inherited it.” Not wanting to dwell on the topic, he shifted the conversation. “How about you and Liu Zijie? Are you two together now?”

“Together?” Qi Linlin blinked her enchanting eyes and pouted, “He has nothing to his name. Why would I want to be with him? My requirements aren’t even that high. For a house, I don’t need a villa, but a large flat is a must. As for a car, it has to be a BMW, Benz, or Audi at the very least, or a decent new energy vehicle.”

Jiang Cheng chuckled, “You call those low requirements?”

“Well, I’m attractive and have a good figure. Is it wrong to have slightly higher standards?” Qi Linlin said with a beautiful smile, blinking her eyes at Jiang Cheng. The beauty mark near her eye was especially captivating.

What she said wasn’t unreasonable. A woman’s appearance and figure are assets in their own right. Using one’s advantages to seek a better life is not inherently wrong.

They chatted for a bit longer, and the food was served. As they ate, Qi Linlin smiled and said, “I used to think that after graduation, I’d only occasionally dine in moderately priced restaurants like this. Most of the time, I imagined I’d be eating in high-end places. Now I realize life isn’t that easy. Being able to eat here occasionally is already quite nice.”

She gazed at Jiang Cheng with her crescent-shaped eyes, “This time, I’m benefiting from your generosity, the future master appraiser.”

“Master appraiser?” Jiang Cheng chuckled. Qi Linlin had a pleasing way of speaking.

After a slight pause, Qi Linlin seemed to remember something and asked, “Oh, by the way, how are things between you and Nan Nan? Liu Zijie told me that Nan Nan’s family seems to disapprove of you two being together?”

Jiang Cheng hesitated briefly, his expression turning slightly somber. He nodded and replied, “Yes, her father disapproves of my situation. He said unless I…”

“Unless what?”

“Unless I can make one hundred million within three years.”
