Chapter 69: Reward Time
〚Divine Artifact: The Holy Spear of Godslaying, Longinus, has reached 100% activation!〛
〚Restricted Special Authority: The Descent of the Radiant Star has been enhanced!〛
〚Restricted Special Authority: The Denial of Eternity has been enhanced!〛
.
.
.
Woooong!!!
A multitude of system messages appeared as an immense amount of energy condensed within Longinus.
The power was truly enough to believe the legends that it had slain a Supreme God.
Of course, in its sealed state, it could easily kill lesser gods or mid-tier divine beings, but slaying a Supreme God-class entity would still be impossible.
Still, its power far exceeded my expectations. If I hadn’t been the one to imprint ownership on Longinus, merely holding it would have caused my very existence to be obliterated by its overwhelming, unknown might.
“This is insane.”
As the activation rate increased, additional restricted special authorities were granted one by one. Now, all 100 of them were active simultaneously, and their collective power was sufficient to kill gods without issue.
It wasn’t called a divine artifact or Mythical-grade item for nothing.
The problem was that I could no longer endure the strain.
【You pathetic, insignificant creature. I don’t know how you came to possess that damned spear, but on the day I return to my full strength, I will find you and kill you!】
Perhaps sensing his impending doom, Azazel unleashed his murderous intent toward me and roared furiously.
“Can you even return to full strength after your primary fragment has been obliterated? Anyway, see you later. Try to resurrect as late as possible.”
It would undoubtedly be troublesome if another of his fragments resurrected and targeted me.
But I also had my trump cards.
I had Longinus, the system’s restrictions, and the rapid pace of my own growth.
“Next time we meet, I’ll kill you even more miserably. Die and become the fertilizer for my growth.”
【You worm!!!】
I didn’t hesitate any longer. I grasped the spear and threw it.
————!!!!
It happened in an instant.
Though I threw the spear, I couldn’t even perceive what occurred afterward.
The moment Longinus left my hand, Azazel’s upper body was obliterated.
The spear didn’t stop there—it demolished half of the Hidden Stage.
From where I stood, everything ahead of me was utterly annihilated.
“Another Hidden Stage destroyed.”
Well, the first one wasn’t my fault; that was caused by Ra.
Anyway, before me now lay infinite space.
This wasn’t a serene, beautiful cosmos filled with twinkling stars.
Crunch! Crackle! Crrrack!
The space shattered and twisted under the destructive force of Longinus, emitting chaos and malice.
The system, seemingly detecting the anomaly, quickly sent crimson-hued messages.
〚Hidden Stage: The Fallen Necromancer’s Hideout has been partially destroyed.〛
〚Space. Time. Laws. All are unstable!〛
〚A vortex of void energy is forming!〛
〚Void Scavengers have detected this location!〛
-Grrrrrr!
Chills! Ssssss.
The sound of beasts echoed from afar, sending shivers down my spine as I instinctively stepped back.
“Longinus.”
I swiftly retrieved Longinus from the void and retreated further.
Even the system’s reward distribution had been delayed due to the chaotic situation.
I backed away toward the entrance that would allow me to escape the Hidden Stage.
〚The system has assessed the situation. Current stage status: Partially destroyed (irreparable).〛
〚The stage will be closed, and its remains will be expelled from the Abyss!〛
〚Void entities are approaching! Escape within 10 seconds!〛
Crunch. Crackle. Crrrack.
With the owner of this space dead, there wasn’t much to worry about.
Realizing that the area could no longer be repaired, the system decided to abandon it.
The remaining half of the stage continued to crumble and join the vortex of destruction.
Watching the countdown tick away, I stowed Longinus into my Inventory and looked beyond.
I saw something.
It was the silhouette of a beast, its hue close to a violet shade.
Its very existence was incomprehensible.
Void Scavenger.
Just witnessing it evoked a suffocating dread, comparable to facing Azazel himself.
While the pressure from Azazel stemmed from the disparity in rank, this creature’s presence exuded pure malice and corruption.
〚Escape now!〛
The system urged me, and I no longer hesitated.
I threw myself into the portal of pure white, leaving the Hidden Stage behind.
Moments later, the stage completely disintegrated.
-Graaaaaaah!
Crunch!
The beast that appeared was consumed by the remnants of the void, vanishing without a trace.
***
Thud.
As I emerged from the Hidden Stage, a familiar damp and musty underground scent filled my nostrils.
“Phew…!”
Only then did I exhale the breath I’d been holding.
From a distance, a voice called out.
“Shin Juha…?!”
It was the voice of the guard captain, Braimoon.
He had likely come searching for me after my two-week absence.
A flood of system messages appeared before my eyes, granting me immense rewards.
However, I dismissed them for the time being and focused on moving my body.
“Braimoon!”
“Shin Juha! Are you alright? I feared something might have happened to you! I could feel the monster’s death, but when you didn’t return, I thought the worst!”
Braimoon hurriedly approached and examined me from head to toe.
Then, his expression turned to one of shock.
“What on earth happened to you? Your shoes are completely melted, and your clothes are drenched in blood! Just what… what happened here?!”
Reassuring the panicked Braimoon that I’d explain everything after we left, I made my way out of the underground sewer.
Breathing in the fresh, crisp air for the first time in a while, and basking in the radiant sunlight, I was soon escorted to his office.
Not walked—escorted.
Even though I was fine, they treated me as if I wasn’t.
The traces of the battle and lingering pain were from over two weeks ago, after all.
In truth, I spent the entire two weeks monotonously activating the spear.
Azazel’s soul would have seizures just from seeing me, so I had no choice but to confine him to the Territory.
My physical condition was at its peak.
On top of that, receiving an overwhelming reward put me in an even better mood.
After all, I had slain the largest fragment of a god.
Even though the fragment’s strength was nothing compared to its form before its demise, it was still an achievement for an E-rank Hunter to kill a god.
This was an undeniable, monumental feat.
Moreover, I accomplished this not by relying on Heavenly Fortune, but through sheer luck and effort, making it even more meaningful.
Eventually, I was forcibly admitted to the largest hospital in the city.
I gave up trying to protest and obediently followed Braimoon’s instructions.
Since this city, the Primordial City, had no singular ruler, Braimoon, as the guard captain, held immense authority.
He even ensured that I was under constant surveillance in case I tried to escape, scrutinizing me like a hawk at every turn.
‘Well, I guess I deserve a break after accomplishing something big.’
I also needed time to organize everything I gained.
Achieving something on this scale during my first exploration of the Abyss was unheard of.
Naturally, I would receive the rewards fitting for such an accomplishment.
As I reviewed the extensive system messages, something immediately caught my eye.
“Huh? This got unlocked?”
The first message that drew my attention was none other than:
〚Hidden Stage: The Fallen Necromancer’s Hideout has been destroyed!〛
〚Title: World Destroyer [Legendary-SSS] has fulfilled its conditions for unlocking abilities.〛
This was the long-sealed title I had acquired after my first regression.
A title earned as a price for awakening Ra, which should have remained eternally locked.
Although it wasn’t I who destroyed the world—Ra did—it still resulted in me obtaining the title without any of its abilities.
Titles hold immense value for Hunters.
Even a low-grade title requires the recognition of the system and the accomplishment of significant feats.
Titles can grant various benefits, ranging from small stat boosts to new skills, permanent buffs, and even unique abilities.
Among the powers permitted by the system to Hunters, titles are undoubtedly among the most valuable.
Even the partially unlocked powers of the Mythical-grade title granted by the Throne of Sin were extraordinary.
Among the three titles I possessed, only End of Calamity, with its special conditions, had an existing effect.
My heart raced as I examined the newly unlocked title’s details.
〚Title: World Destroyer〛
〚Rank: Legendary〛
〚Grade: SSS〛
〚Description: A title granted to one who destroys an Abyssal Territory, which could be considered a world, in a single strike despite their insignificant rank.〛
〚Abilities:〛
- Significant rewards are granted upon destroying a territory.
- Appropriate rewards are granted upon clearing a destroyed territory.
- All attacks deal 200% additional damage.
- 10% of damage is applied as fixed damage in all attacks.
- Strength-related stats increase by +50.
- Skill: The Power of the Titan [Legendary-SS] acquired.
“This is insane!”
Crack! Crack! Crack!
I could hear the sound of my bones strengthening, my muscles tightening, and my skin toughening in real time.
Such was the significance of a +50 stat increase at once.
I had reached the threshold of a new rank.
Previously, when Arrogance boosted my Stat to F(50/100), the stat now grew to F(100/100) under the title’s blessing.
“I can’t hold back.”
I immediately invested the two stat points I earned from leveling up after slaying monsters into Mugeuk Stat.
The stat broke past its barrier and entered a new rank!
Crack! Crrunch!
〚Mugeuk Stat has increased in rank. Minor Muscle and Bone Transformation occurs, and the body undergoes slight metamorphosis!〛
It was a familiar message, accompanied by changes far greater than when I gained +50 stats in one go.
While the raw numerical increase was smaller, the leap in rank carried an entirely different weight.
“Status window.”
Even the overwhelming energy of Arrogance, which had been swirling within me, broke past its limits and entered a new realm.
Immense power coursed through my entire body.
I now possessed strength enough to easily defeat a D-rank Hunter.
‘Take that, Lee Jiyong.’
Compared to that C-rank Hunter who mocked and attacked me back at the association, I was no longer inferior.
If we fought ten times, I could win at least three or four times.
All of this was proof of my efforts and the rewards of my hard work.
〚Mugeuk (Mythical) F+(1/100)〛
〚Arrogance (Origin) F+(1/100)〛
“Now it takes three spare points to raise just one level?”
While the power was overwhelming, it came with an equivalent risk.
Fortunately, the Crown of the Evolved Monarch-Rune doubled the spare points I gained, and overcoming Misfortune provided additional spare points through the Perseverance Stat.
“Raising the Mugeuk Stat also increases Arrogance simultaneously.”
Raising Origin-grade stats required four spare points for just one increase.
It was an extreme growth challenge.
Of course, the value and efficiency of these stats were worth far more than four points.
The rewards from the title didn’t end there.
The unexpected result came from the new skill it granted.
〚Skill: Heart of the Titan [Legendary-SS] is in your possession.〛
〚Skill: Power of the Titan [Legendary-SS] has been newly acquired!〛
The two skills, closely related, resonated with each other, awakening new strength and possibilities.
〚Set Effect Activated!〛
〚Effect:〛
- 2-Set: Skill grade rises to SSS, and level increases by 1.
- 3-Set: ???
- 4-Set: ???
- 5-Set: ???
[Heart – Acquired]
[Power – Acquired]
[Body – Not Acquired]
[Strength – Not Acquired]
[Wisdom – Not Acquired]
〚Hidden Quest: Follow the Footsteps of the Titan begins!〛
A second Mythical-grade quest was engraved into my status window.
