After I Died, the Scumbag Went Crazy Chapter 22

Chapter 22

“Officer Lu, I heard you released that lunatic?” Fu Mingyu asked, visibly displeased, as he entered the police station with Bai Yuan.

Bai Yuan appeared frightened, clinging to Fu Mingyu’s chest.

Fu Mingyu removed his coat and gently draped it over Bai Yuan before holding her in his arms. “Are you cold?”

Bai Yuan weakly nodded.

“Mr. Fu, the other party has a guardian who posted bail. They also stated that if your friend encounters any issues, you can contact them directly. They’ve agreed to fully cover medical expenses and other damages.” Lu Zhe handed a business card to Fu Mingyu.

Fu Mingyu took the card and glanced at it, his expression visibly changing. He frowned. “Li Mingjue?”

The Li family…

I was equally shocked, staring at Fu Mingyu. The Li family?

The Li family of Haicheng stood at the pinnacle of the entire business world—a family of absolute wealth and power.

Even the Fu family paled in comparison to the Li family.

But how could someone from the Li family grow up in an orphanage and suffer from mental illness?

Thinking about A Xing’s identity, I couldn’t stop trembling.

With the powerful backing of the Li family, was that how he managed to escape detection after killing so many people?

So, he had someone covering for him.

What now… Where was my body? Would the truth about my death ever be revealed?

“He… He’s actually from the Li family?” Bai Yuan was equally stunned. She was silent for a long time before speaking again. “A Li family member, a lunatic? I’ve never heard of such a thing.”

“Three years ago, the eldest son, eldest grandson, and granddaughter of the Li family patriarch all perished in a car accident. The youngest son suffers from azoospermia and is incapable of having children or producing an heir,” Fu Mingyu said in a low voice, his brows furrowed.

“Clearly, this lunatic must carry the Li family bloodline. Otherwise, Patriarch Li Mingjue wouldn’t be so invested in a lunatic.”

“Invested?” Lu Zhe scoffed. “If he truly cared, he wouldn’t have let him wander homeless. They probably just want to preserve the bloodline.”

Fu Mingyu didn’t reply. He had no interest in the Li family’s affairs and didn’t want to get involved. “Officer Lu, since you’ve cleared things up, focus on catching the murderer. There’s no need to keep looking into Cheng Xi.”

Opening the car door, Fu Mingyu helped Bai Yuan into the vehicle with evident care in every detail.

“Bai Yuan and I are getting married. She will definitely show up at the wedding,” Fu Mingyu said confidently.

I sneered. Fu Mingyu planned to use his wedding with Bai Yuan to lure me out.

“Congratulations, then,” Lu Zhe said meaningfully, looking at Fu Mingyu. “I hope this is just one of Cheng Xi’s pranks. I hope she shows up at your wedding, alive and well.”

“Keep dreaming…” I stood to the side, mocking Fu Mingyu. I would never go, never appear again.

Fu Mingyu got into the car and drove away.

I stood there, unsure of where to go.

A wandering soul—that’s probably the best way to describe me.

Even in death, my spirit didn’t know where it should go.

“Cheng Xi, where are you?” Lu Zhe suddenly looked up at the sky and asked.

I turned to look at Lu Zhe and smiled. “I’m dead. Even I don’t know where my body is…”

“Lu-ge! Something’s happened!” A young officer ran into the station in a panic. “Another female body has been found in Guangli River. The method is the same… a red dress, a woman who frequented Nightfall Bar. Before her death, she was sexually assaulted… and died of asphyxiation.”

Lu Zhe frowned, throwing his cigarette butt aside. “Damn it… this bastard!”

Anger overtook Lu Zhe. He slammed and kicked a nearby trash can, venting his frustration and hatred for his own helplessness. He hadn’t caught the murderer yet.

So many innocent women had lost their lives.

“The victim’s facial skin was completely stripped, making identification impossible…”

Lu Zhe finally calmed down, standing silently for a moment. “Let’s go take a look.”

I followed Lu Zhe in panic. My last memory before death was of the murderer binding several women.

In my final moments, I saw several women in red dresses cowering in the corner of the wall.

“There are survivors, Lu Zhe. There are survivors! Search the abandoned orphanage, search that orphanage!” I shouted anxiously, following behind him.

There are still survivors! The murderer kills periodically, abducting victims beforehand.

There must still be people alive!

“Lu Zhe! There are survivors!” I yelled desperately, trying to make him hear, but it was useless.

It was as if we were in two separate worlds. He simply couldn’t sense my presence.

“It’s strange. This victim had something belonging to Cheng Xi. The left ear of the deceased wore an earring identified as the one Cheng Xi was wearing the day she disappeared,” the female officer reported after returning from the scene, informing Lu Zhe.
