I Became a Calamity-Level Villain in the Magical Girl Universe Chapter 6

Chapter 6

From a distance away from the battle, Reina concentrated as she watched the fight between the Black Knight and Bing Seol Hwa.

Boom!

A tremendous sound echoed from the sky.

Shattered ice fragments scattered around, caught in a swirling storm. And in the middle of it all, there were the two monsters.

Bing Seol Hwa swung her staff.

Crash!

A massive ice blade shot toward the Black Knight. However, the Black Knight effortlessly deflected the ice blade and charged straight at Bing Seol Hwa.

Now it was the Black Knight’s turn. As he swung his sword, Bing Seol Hwa conjured an ice shield. The blade struck the shield, transforming it into countless ice shards once more.

“Impressive.”

Reina thought to herself, even though she knew she shouldn’t feel that way about defeating a monster. However, she couldn’t control her thoughts so easily.

And it was likely the same for the magical girls who were maintaining the barrier.

With every clash between the Black Knight and Bing Seol Hwa, a torrent of overwhelming magical energy surged. Just from the aftermath alone, the massive barrier was shaking.

“The barrier… can’t hold.”

It was said to be a barrier strong enough to withstand an A-rank monster. After all, many magical girls had participated in its creation. No matter how hard Reina tried to break through, the barrier wouldn’t even have a scratch.

Yet, even without a direct attack, the mere impact of their collision was enough to cause the barrier to tremble.

What was even more terrifying was that, despite such fierce exchanges, both the Black Knight and Bing Seol Hwa appeared to have plenty of energy left.

On the rooftop of a building, the Black Knight and Bing Seol Hwa landed.

[Interesting.]

In the standoff, the Black Knight spoke up. Bing Seol Hwa simply gazed at him with her blue eyes.

[You’re certainly impressive. It’s not for nothing they say you’re the greatest force in Korea.]

Bing Seol Hwa ignored the Black Knight’s words with an indifferent expression and asked him, “Why are you targeting Reina?”

The biggest question regarding the Black Knight: why was he so obsessed with the magical girl, Reina?

It couldn’t be entirely ruled out as coincidence, but once again, the Black Knight had rushed toward the location where Reina was, proving his fixation on her.

But what was the reason behind it? Reina, as a magical girl, was nothing special. She had her standout traits, but ultimately, she was just a C-rank magical girl. Compared to the absolute presence of Bing Seol Hwa and the many other magical girls, Reina had no reason to stand out.

Why was the Black Knight fixated on Reina? After a moment of contemplation, the Black Knight answered her question.

[When you gaze at a star, you can’t help but admire its beautiful light, even if there’s no particular reason to do so.]

Bing Seol Hwa narrowed her pretty brows at his unexpected remark.

“Quite romantic for a monster.”

[Even if I’m called a monster, my essence is still human. I hold onto the concept of beauty and ugliness, at the very least. That’s all there is to it. Reina, as a magical girl, possesses a ‘light’ that other magical girls lack. The light of potential. Who might even surpass you someday.]

“I’ve never heard that kind of remark since becoming an S-rank. The idea that another magical girl could surpass me.”

Despite saying that, a small smile lingered on Bing Seol Hwa’s face.

“Well, it was an interesting story. Shall we start again?”

At her words, the Black Knight swiftly drew his sword.

[Let’s do that. It seems we’ve both warmed up now.]

Boom!

Without anyone saying anything, the Black Knight and Bing Seol Hwa charged at each other. Bing Seol Hwa created an ice raspier from the air and swung it. The Black Knight blocked each attack while delivering sharp counters in between.

‘…It’s not just about the sheer amount of magical power.’

Those who have transformed into monsters often display clumsy fighting skills because they can’t handle or utilize their power effectively. However, the Black Knight before her was different.

He understood and managed his power and body completely. He could almost be called a master in wielding his sword.

‘Ugh, useless thoughts.’

Bing Seol Hwa recalled a ‘certain someone’ from the past as she observed the Black Knight’s swordplay and quickly gathered her focus, gripping her staff tightly.

Once again, the battle resumed. Despite the fierce exchanges continuing, neither the Black Knight nor Bing Seol Hwa showed any signs of damage.

As she caught her breath, Bing Seol Hwa closed her eyes, then opened them again and said, “I’m annoyed.”

[Hmm?]

“It’s time to stop holding back. I’m going to kill you.”

The sudden shift in Bing Seol Hwa’s demeanor caused the Black Knight to pause, and in that moment, his body began to freeze slowly.

[…What is this?]

Absolute Zero. The ultimate technique of magical girl Bing Seol Hwa. As the name implies, it brought the opponent’s body to a temperature close to absolute zero, turning them into an ice statue.

“Goodbye. It’s been a long time since I used my full power.”

Before the Black Knight could respond, his body was completely frozen. Bing Seol Hwa quietly observed the ice statue of the Black Knight before turning her back.

And at that very moment…

Crack. Crackle. Crack.

The ice statue began to crack.

“What…?”

The ice statue shattered, and the Black Knight’s voice began to echo.

[Yes, you were right.]

“…”

Slowly, an aura emanated from the Black Knight’s body that was far beyond what it had been moments ago.

[You said, ‘It’s time to stop holding back.’ Allow me to return that sentiment.]

Startled, Bing Seol Hwa instinctively took a step back, moving almost on reflex.

From within the Black Knight’s helmet, a red glow shone through.

[The games are over.]

Boom!

Bing Seol Hwa’s body flew through the air, crashing into a building. As she struggled to rise, she saw the Black Knight slowly approaching her.

…She still had some energy left. She could fight.

However, the question was whether she could win. Her ‘Absolute Zero,’ infused with her full power, hadn’t worked. Could she truly defeat that Black Knight?

For the first time in a long while, she felt helplessness. Bing Seol Hwa gritted her teeth and tightened her grip on her staff.

Just as the Black Knight aimed his sword at her, a sound escaped him.

[Ugh… Agh… Aaaah!]

The anguished groan of the Black Knight echoed out.

Bing Seol Hwa stared at him in disbelief. This was a monster that had remained unscathed even after being hit by Absolute Zero. Yet suddenly, he was in such agony?

The Black Knight, writhing in pain, seemed to decide he needed to escape and leapt, shattering the barrier.

Clang!

The barrier, which was said to be capable of easily stopping A-rank monsters, shattered like a piece of paper.

When she regained her senses, the Black Knight had already vanished.

***

It hurts. His head was pounding as if it would split open.

To be honest, he had lost his restraint against Bing Seol Hwa.

Although he thought of himself as possessing his human identity, the instinct of the monster seemed to remain, triggering a fighting instinct that made him engage in excessive combat against Bing Seol Hwa. Perhaps the instinct of the monster, the Black Knight, recognized that ‘I’ could grow stronger through this battle.

Both monsters and magical girls grow in power by killing those with magical energy, much like gaining experience points in an RPG. However, there are limitations. If the ‘rank’ difference is too great, one cannot grow even by defeating the opponent.

The Black Knight, as a monster, was undoubtedly of the highest rank. While he may not be the final boss of “Matseu-An,” there were few monsters in the entire work that could compare to him.

Thus, his fighting instinct awakened against Bing Seol Hwa, knowing that by defeating her, he could become stronger. As someone whose essence was closer to that of an ordinary citizen, there was no real reason for him to fight Bing Seol Hwa to that extent.

However, the issue arose when this fighting instinct was interrupted by a sudden, tremendous headache. It felt as though something was saying, “You must not kill Bing Seol Hwa.”

Moreover, this was likely related to the body of ‘Baek Seung-hyun’ and her own premonition.

One of the things he learned after arriving in this world was that defeating monsters would gradually awaken Baek Seung-hyun’s memories. Initially, he had known only basic personal information, but as he defeated monsters, fragments of memories began to resurface.

However, he hadn’t desperately tried to awaken Baek Seung-hyun’s memories. He believed that the person Baek Seung-hyun was didn’t amount to much. With no acquaintances and nothing of value, he felt it would be meaningless to recall those memories.

But now, it was different. If the cause of this lingering headache was the premonition telling him, “You must not attack Bing Seol Hwa,” then he had to uncover those memories.

In other words, he had to conduct monster hunting from this moment onward.
