Chapter 35: Another Mythical Grade Unique Ability
〚Due to rapid growth, the proficiency of Authority: Golden Tower has increased by 30%!〛
〚The number of high-grade items that can be extracted has increased by 50!〛
〚The grade of high-grade items available for extraction has been raised to S-rank!〛
The saying “the world looks different” really resonates now.
All of reality feels transformed just from a single grade increase in the Mugeuk Stat.
Small changes like my view being slightly higher because of a minor growth in height from Muscle and Bone Transformation, or the vitality coursing through my entire body.
Larger changes include my enhanced senses, capable of perceiving even the smallest details, and the fluid control over my body in response to my will.
With this overwhelming feeling of fullness, I immediately opened my stat window to see the visible changes.
〚Unique Ability: Mugeuk Heavenly Pulse
Rank: Mythical
Grade: EX
LV 2 (0%)
Description: A body imbued with Mugeuk (meaning “boundless”) and the ultimate martial concept Mugeuk.
Abilities:
- Creates the Mugeuk (Mythical) Stat
- Raises the grade of all martial-related abilities by one rank (Mugeuk Heavenly Pulse excluded)
- Unlocks at LV 3〛
〚Skill: Soft Overcomes Hard [Unique-SS+] has evolved by the influence of Unique Ability: Mugeuk Heavenly Pulse!〛
〚Skill: Flowing Water Technique [Epic-SS+] has evolved〛
At LV 2, Mugeuk Heavenly Pulse displayed yet another incredible advantage, raising the rank of skills, not just their grade!
Unfortunately, I only have one martial-related skill, Soft Overcomes Hard, so the effect is limited to just this skill for now. But in the future, it’ll be an incredible asset.
I examined the details of the newly evolved skill, smiling to myself.
Flowing Water Technique lives up to its name, embodying the idea of “becoming like flowing water” as an advanced version of Soft Overcomes Hard.
At LV 1, it has only two abilities. The first is like Soft Overcomes Hard, where I can redirect all attacks to where I want them.
The second ability gives a chance to evade attacks entirely.
The concept of “deflecting” comes to me instinctively. I’m eager to engage in battle with this transformed body and get accustomed to these changes.
However, about 30 minutes remain until the next wave begins.
“Now that the Mugeuk Stat has risen, the Sun Stat should have increased as well, along with the Authority level.”
Feeling the incredible sun energy now coursing through my body, I checked the next ability.
〚Authority: Noonday Sun
Rank: Origin
Grade: Origin
LV 2 (0%)
Description: The supreme power of the sun at its zenith, ruling over everything from above with absolute dominance.
Abilities:
- Blooms the Sun [Mythical] Stat
- Absolute immunity to Fire attributes
- Extreme affinity with Fire attributes
- Creates Unique Ability: Solar Eye
- Unlocks at LV 3〛
“A new unique ability?”
As expected from the supreme Authority wielded by a ruler of gods.
I quickly took out a mirror item from my spatial storage to look at myself. My left eye had transformed into a deep red color, resembling a blazing sun.
〚Unique Ability: Solar Eye
Rank: Mythical
Grade: EX+
LV 1
Description: An eye imbued with the supreme power of the sun, observing and ruling over all.
Abilities:
- Observes all things of lower rank
- When infused with mana, it can inflict a random status ailment upon locking gaze with a target.
- Unlocks at LV 2〛
“What in the…!”
Without thinking, I let out a loud exclamation, standing up in disbelief. Frankly, it’s amazing I didn’t start jumping up and down with both hands raised.
“What’s wrong? Did something go wrong?”
“…Are you okay…?”
The two resting nearby jumped up at my shout, looking around in alarm. I quickly waved them off, signaling that it was nothing serious, then gulped, glancing at my unique ability.
“Another Mythical grade unique ability…”
And one with an appraisal function, no less.
Honestly, I needed an appraisal ability badly, and I was planning to learn appraisal as my first Word Spirit spell. But to obtain it this way!
For their peace of mind, I stifled my excitement and forced a smile at my companions.
Turning my blazing left eye upward, I gazed at the divine artifact floating above.
The exact details of the artifact I’d been curious about came into clear view.
〚Item: The Highest Sun’s Eye (Impact: EX)
LV 1 (7%)
Description: Once the symbol and authority of a god who created and ruled over a dimension, it has now returned to its original form, granted to the new sun.
Abilities:
- The divine artifact has a level and grows.
- Fixed +20 to all stats.
- Constantly absorbs surrounding heat to restore health and mana.
- Unlocks at LV 2〛
As expected from a Mythical-grade item, this artifact is capable of leveling up and growing like a character.
Thinking back to Ra’s words about growing alongside me, I nodded in satisfaction and refocused my gaze.
〚Time remaining until the third wave: 00:27:13〛
With little time left until the next wave, I quietly stood up and began moving to adapt to my newly transformed body.
Before long, I could hear the sounds of the Ganggwi running wildly from the end of the passage.
***
Crack! Crack!
Even though my stat grade had increased and I gained the power of the Solar Stat, I still couldn’t overcome the Ganggwi’s overwhelming destructive force.
The sheer strength of their giant jaws was enough to challenge even C-rank hunters, and their massive bodies provided a significant advantage.
However, that didn’t mean I couldn’t defeat them. Despite the physical limits and stat differences, I completely overwhelmed them.
The only advantage the Ganggwi had was their overwhelming strength, which surpassed grades and ranks.
But with my Flowing Water Technique, that power was nullified.
One by one, I deflected their attacks and systematically exploited their weaknesses to take them down.
After a lifetime as an underdog, with experience defeating monsters stronger than myself, this approach wasn’t difficult. Well… if I were one of them, I might’ve thought this fighting style was unfair.
But survival left no room for such concerns.
Eventually, after losing over half their kin, they surrounded me and attempted coordinated attacks.
Yet, in the end, my Flowing Water Technique caused them to attack each other, leading to their self-destruction.
The third wave consisted of 15 standard Ganggwi and one elite. It was challenging, to say the least. And it wasn’t just about fighting alone—I had someone to protect.
“Ugh!”
There was another issue. No matter how quickly I defeated the Ganggwi, I lacked the ability to annihilate them all at once, so time was inevitably lost.
During this time, Gundan was left to fend off the remaining Ganggwi alone.
Though he had blossomed his unique ability beyond its limits with the blessings of the Saintess, lacking battle experience and proficiency with his abilities,
he ultimately couldn’t hold out and sustained injuries.
“Damn it!”
“A potion! Don’t you have any potions? My healing alone can’t repair all these wounds!”
I grimaced at the two holes piercing his torso and quickly pulled out several standard-grade potions from my inventory, pouring them over his wounds.
Sizzle!
Steam rose as the wounds began to disinfect and heal.
Though standard-grade potions couldn’t instantly heal, and couldn’t fully treat deep wounds, they managed to supplement the Saintess’s healing magic effectively.
Once the wounds piercing Gundan’s shoulder and abdomen were fully healed, the Saintess collapsed to the ground, gasping.
“I’m…sorry… If only I had held out longer…”
“You did your best. This was more than enough. Honestly, this dungeon isn’t something a rookie without real battle experience or full mastery over their unique ability could handle.”
In fact, only Gundan, with the insane potential to one day become an SS-rank hunter, managed to hold out to this extent. Realistically, surviving here with just an F-rank, an E-rank hunter, and a D-rank supporter protecting one patient was almost impossible.
‘Even a veteran raid team of D to C ranks would struggle to clear this.’
The problem was the nagging sense of foreboding. Given that this situation was caused by Misfortune, could this really be the end of it?
I couldn’t shake the certainty.
Though difficult, it wasn’t impossible, making it hard to believe this was all Misfortune had prepared.
‘Let’s move. I need to end this before the next wave arrives.’
I clenched my teeth, piling the Ganggwi corpses in a corner of the cave, banishing my worst fears from my mind.
‘I’ll clear this dungeon. I swear it.’
With another full day until the next wave, I steeled myself for battle, leaving Gundan and the Saintess as I dove back into the passageways.
***
In the deepest part of the Ganggwi’s lair, a chamber reserved for only one among hundreds of Ganggwi, swarms of them gathered.
-Kkiikik!!
The Queen, ruler of all Ganggwi, screeched, and all the Ganggwi bowed their heads, trembling under her fury.
The Queen’s command was simple: locate and destroy the egg chosen to become the next queen!
Though this order effectively dismantled their ecosystem, they obeyed without question, as if it was only natural.
However, as time passed without progress, and word came that four elite guards had been killed by intruders in their nest, the Queen’s rage intensified.
-Kkiikik!
And so, the Queen commanded that all standard Ganggwi be unleashed, ordering them to find and crush the egg of the next queen!
-Kkiikik!!
The Ganggwi bowed their heads and followed the order, and over a hundred Ganggwi began to roam the lair.
