I Became a Mythical Hunter After Killing the Golden Goblin Chapter 49

Chapter 49: Dungeon Rampage (3)

The buff potion, the increased stats from the First Wing of Arrogance, and the boosted Mugeuk stat from the additional points were enough to allow me to escape from the goblins.

If I kept stalling to let time pass, I could create a new battlefield. But for now, I was planning to try a different approach.

I checked the item I had found earlier once more from my pocket.

〚Item: The Powerful Pheromone of the Self-Proclaimed Most Beautiful Goblin

Grade: High

Rank: SS

Description: The most beautiful goblin of the great Goblin Kingdom was born with a captivating beauty and scent that enthralled both male and female goblins. Goblins who smelled her scent once would lose their reason and rush towards her; those who smelled it twice would go berserk, and those who smelled it thrice would completely succumb to the allure, losing all self-control. Using this power, she ascended to the throne as the queen of the kingdom and ruled as a tyrant until her last breath. This item holds a fragment of her power.

Effect:

  • Imbues up to three designated targets with the pheromone of the beautiful goblin for one hour (for goblin species, the status effect ‘Charm’ is guaranteed).

Despite the long description, it was a somewhat ambiguous item. It couldn’t be used to make the goblins kill my enemies, only to charm them. Of course, the level of charm was far from mild.

One word in the item description caught my attention.

<Guaranteed>. The implication of this word meant that even those who were consumed by madness would be charmed.

If so, there was only one thing to test here.

Would the ‘charm’ effect have a higher precedence? Or would the simple command given by the horn take priority?

Would the goblins consumed by madness choose their lust or follow the simple command given by a human?

I had no idea. It would be better if it was the former, but even if it didn’t work, there was nothing to regret.

‘If it doesn’t work, I’ll just keep running until the command ends and kill them one by one.’

As the duration of the First Wing of Arrogance was nearing its end, I finally heard human voices approaching.

“Damn it! I can still hear the goblins’ cries nearby.”

“Are there more left? We’ve already killed seven, and there are still more?”

“We almost died last time because they ignored the command and attacked when we didn’t kill them in one go. Let’s make sure to kill them in one shot this time, please! I’m scared!”

“Quiet. Let’s assess the situation first, and move if we keep hearing them.”

Found them. These cockroach-like bastards.

I transformed Manbyun into a stealth item and activated stealth mode. The goblins, whose grade and rank had increased, might have detected me, but these weaker enemies stood no chance of seeing through a high-grade A-rank stealth skill.

‘The pheromone can only be applied to three targets.’

So, I would have to kill one of them. As I moved quickly, I saw four of them resting together.

‘I’ll take out Seok Woon first, the most troublesome one.’

I took out a spear from my inventory.

〚Item: Spear of the Ganggwi’s Jaw [Unique-S]

This was the final reward for clearing the dungeon after receiving skill points. It was currently the most powerful weapon I possessed.

As the stealth effect was nearing its end, I sprang forward with all my strength and thrust the spear.

Thunk!

Seok Woon, who had been deep in thought, died instantly, unable to utter a single scream as the spear pierced through his chest.

For a moment, everyone froze, staring at the situation in disbelief. It was an incomprehensible scene. Out of nowhere, a spear had appeared and pierced Seok Woon’s chest.

Hot, metallic-smelling blood splattered onto their faces, but they were too shocked to react and focused all their attention on processing the scene.

And that brief window was the perfect opportunity I had been waiting for. As the stealth mode ended, I pulled out the pheromone from my pocket and sprayed it on the three remaining targets.

They realized what had happened only after inhaling the pheromone, but it was too late.

I pulled out the spear from Seok Woon’s chest and simultaneously stashed the horn he had been holding into my inventory. Without delay, I fled, avoiding both them and the goblins.

“Damn it! Seok Woon!”

“Shit! How? He had a stealth skill?”

“Ahhh!”

Oh dear, they shouldn’t be making such a fuss or wasting time.

I didn’t run far. I stayed nearby, watching the chaos unfold while drinking a potion.

As soon as the First Wing of Arrogance effect ended, the goblins appeared. Twelve goblins emerged from the underbrush. The moment I saw their faces and expressions, I couldn’t help but smile.

“Bingo.”

They were no longer the mindless monsters rampaging in madness.

Their eyes were still unfocused, and their faces were filled with excitement, but what drove them now was not madness but charm.

The allure of the goblin woman who had once ruled an entire goblin kingdom.

“This is insane. If it were humans…”

Could it be comparable to the beauties in history who were called “Gyeonggukjiseok” (a beauty so enchanting it could topple a nation) or “Jeolsse Mijin” (an unparalleled beauty)?

The goblins, unable to come to their senses, started approaching the three humans, as if bewitched.

Their mouths hung open, drooling uncontrollably, without even attempting to hide their swelling lower bodies.

Even the only two female goblins were no different.

Their gazes were sticky, greedy, and desperate. And the objects of their lust were none other than the three humans.

“F*ck.”

Kim Woo-rim couldn’t help but curse when he realized what was happening.

“You bastard. How is this even possible?”

He regretted accepting this request. Blinded by the rare-grade skill book, he had dared to touch someone he shouldn’t have.

“Ugh… disgusting!”

Lee Ji-ah, being a woman, felt more repulsed by such looks than the two men. But cursing and yelling wouldn’t change anything.

There were only two options left. Either stay and fight them or endure without looking back until this accursed thing disappeared.

Watching it all, I couldn’t help but clap.

‘If it were at a moderate level of charm, I could have controlled them and issued commands.’

But this had already gone beyond the level of mere charm. It was said that once inhaled, reason was lost; twice, madness ensued; and thrice, the ego crumbled.

Of course, this pheromone couldn’t produce effects to that extent. Yet, the goblins’ eyes had turned wilder than when consumed by madness.

This was nothing short of an absolute disaster, specifically for goblins.

I was even more surprised that such an item existed and that it was only of high-grade rank.

“It must be because it’s just a fragment of the power.”

If it were the real thing, these goblins would probably have gone mad and lost their egos already.

The three assassins made their choice—to flee, to get out of this hell filled with aroused goblins as fast as possible.

They immediately turned and scattered in different directions. It wasn’t out of noble, sacrificial thoughts to ensure at least one of them would survive instead of escaping together.

They simply didn’t have the mind to care for fellow assassins they had met only today on the same mission. The only thought was to get out of that vile place as quickly as possible.

“Well, that works for me.”

And that was exactly the outcome I wanted. After all, my goal was to kill them all and then eliminate the goblins to clear the dungeon.

The most troublesome one, Seok Woon, was already dead. Now that they had scattered, I could pick them off one by one.

Anyway, for the next hour, they would be the absolute targets of the aroused goblins.

I stood up and transformed Manbyun into boots and wore them.

〚Manbyun has projected the item: Boots of Wind Walking [High-S+].

The buff potion’s effect hadn’t worn off yet. Even though the First Wing of Arrogance, which raised all my stats by 10, had ended, the item’s effect boosted my agility further, making me even faster.

With a spear drawn from my inventory, I advanced in the direction where Kim Woo-rim had fled.

The distance closed in an instant. I spotted him, narrowly escaping with five goblins on his tail. As I closed in, I began eliminating the goblins chasing him from behind.

Killing the charmed goblins, who ignored their own safety even when attacked, was easy.

After swiftly targeting their vital spots and killing them all, a level-up message appeared, and Kim Woo-rim collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily as if he had barely survived.

“What are you doing?”

“Haah… haah… damn…!”

Those were his last words. The large, powerful spear pierced Kim Woo-rim’s abdomen, causing him to cough up blood and eventually stop breathing.

“Next is Lee Ji-ah.”

I cut through the forest and continued forward. How far had I gone?

A scream rang out in the distance. I saw Lee Ji-ah, on the brink of being caught by the goblins.

I considered whether to let her be taken by the goblins, but waiting seemed like a waste of time, so I swiftly took care of all the goblins.

“Farewell. In your next life, don’t become an assassin.”

“You… you crazy bastard! Do you think the Seongun Guild will let this slide if you kill me? If you kill me…!”

That was as far as she got. What a pathetic threat.

A rampaging dungeon, once cleared, ejects any surviving hunters and disappears explosively.

There’s a reason there’s research suggesting that it’s the result of using all its power.

It means that no one would know whether they were killed by goblins or by me.

Knowing this, they must have prepared for such a scenario. Although it ended up turning against them.

Now, only Ma Dong-won, the large tank who I had subdued in one strike, remained.

I crossed the forest more leisurely, and when I found him, I saw a female goblin mounted on top of him. I immediately impaled them both.

Quickly erasing the grotesque image from my mind, I cleaned the spear of blood and put it back in the inventory.

And that was the end.

I turned Manbyun back into a sword from boots and intentionally inflicted small wounds on myself.

As if to show that the dungeon was fierce enough and dangerous enough for four people to die.

After finishing the act, I drew upon the power of the sun and killed all the goblins that were still writhing on the corpses, unable to break free from the charm.

Another level-up message appeared, along with a notification that the dungeon had been cleared.
