Chapter 74. The Incomplete Elixir of Immortality
As I stepped out of the Abyss portal, a suffocating air incomparable to Teraium filled my lungs.
It was the scent of Earth.
“Sixteen days.”
I hadn’t expected it to take this long. Somehow, it ended up that way.
‘That incident is about to happen soon.’
That’s the reason I stopped continuing the myth-grade quest and returned to Earth.
The Monster Wave.
A phenomenon where monsters pour down from North Korea, known as the Demon Realm.
The cause is the calamity-grade monster Imoogi, residing on Mount Baekdu.
It is a being that desires to ascend and become a dragon through ten thousand years of cultivation.
The problem lies in the wicked methods it uses to accumulate its power.
Every ten years, it reveals itself, controlling monsters living in North Korea and parts of China to carry out massacres centered around Mount Baekdu.
This is what we call a Monster Wave.
But the reason I’m paying attention to this one in particular is because—
‘For some reason, Imoogi directly appears during this Monster Wave, and is ultimately slain by Changje from China and Dangun Genius from our side.’
This is the final Monster Wave.
Not just because it’s the last one.
The Imoogi, slain by two SS-rank Hunters, leaves behind a dungeon.
It’s called the Tower of Ascension—a rare, special-type dungeon imbued with the Imoogi’s lifelong desire to become a dragon.
And it isn’t a one-time-use dungeon—it’s permanent.
In the future, it will become the dungeon that aids Hunters the most.
I don’t know how many floors it has or exactly what monsters dwell within.
But judging by the fact that every Hunter who enters the Tower of Ascension experiences growth, there must be something worthwhile inside.
That’s why I’m joining this Monster Wave.
Anyone who inflicts a certain amount of damage on the Imoogi receives an extra beneficial effect.
Of course, I don’t know the specifics.
Back then, I had just awakened and was too busy being a corporate slave under those bastards to pay attention to that sort of thing.
But it’s definitely a perk related to the Tower of Ascension.
‘I just need to use Longinus.’
Even a calamity-grade monster can be taken down in one blow if Longinus is charged to about 30–40%.
Of course, reaching 30% would take at least several days, so that’s impossible.
With Time Acceleration, I can probably charge it to about 10%.
That should be enough to deal meaningful damage.
Even with Time Acceleration, I’d still need to charge it for a few hours.
‘After all, I’m the only one who knows Imoogi will appear. I’ll handle the Monster Wave, slip out, and start charging it.’
The problem is that my power will be exposed to everyone—
Even if I throw Longinus while hiding, I can’t completely conceal it.
Raid contributions are revealed upon success, and rewards are distributed based on ranking.
I can cover my name by using a nickname creation token, but my identity…
Anyway, I need to spend the remaining week finding a way to solve this problem.
If memory serves, the Changseong Guild will participate in this Monster Wave, along with several S-rank Hunters who are my enemies.
I can’t let them see my full power.
I immediately caught a taxi waiting in front of the Abyss and headed to the Miracle Guild.
* * *
“Oh my! It’s been a while since you visited. Looks like you came from the Abyss. Did you gain satisfying results?”
As soon as I entered the Miracle Guild, Guildmaster Gi So-young greeted me with a smile and asked.
I responded with a simple nod.
I needed to speak with her anyway, so this was perfect.
“Are you busy? There’s something I need to ask. Something I’d like to request, and even a trade to propose.”
At my words, Gi So-young’s eyes widened.
She dismissed the healers behind her with a single gesture and guided me into her office.
“Tea? A drink? Or coffee?”
“Water will be fine.”
Gi So-young brewed her own coffee, handed me a bottle of water, and sat across from me.
“Now! What does our honorary executive want to request? And what exactly are you proposing?”
“If you have any good healing-type skillbooks, please sell them to me.”
Her eyes widened at my request.
She leaned back into the sofa, stroked her chin, and smirked.
“Do you even know how much we’d charge for that kind of thing?”
“I can meet most prices.”
“It won’t be that easy. What if I give you one of the guild’s top-tier skills we don’t want to part with?”
To that, I let out a snort, finding it almost amusing.
“Even if it’s a legendary-grade skillbook, I can afford it. So don’t worry.”
It was the truth.
The second golden auction had already concluded.
I must have received several trillion won in funds again.
Not to mention, I even sold pure 100% mithril at this auction.
Combined with the remaining funds, I probably have at least 7 trillion won.
There isn’t a skillbook in existence I can’t buy.
But realistically, I doubted the Miracle Guild even had a skillbook of that caliber.
Maybe sensing the confidence in my voice, Gi So-young looked momentarily flustered.
She uncrossed her legs, stopped joking, and nodded.
“I’ll think about it for now. It’s not easy to take skillbooks out of the guild. Even if you are an honorary executive—as you know, that’s just a nominal title. You haven’t really shown us any results yet.”
I let out another small chuckle at her words.
That worked out nicely too.
“Then that means I just need to produce results, right? Here’s my second proposal. I’ll pass on the techniques and knowledge, so the Miracle Guild should give me more royalties and shares.”
The first person who came to mind when I obtained this was, of course, my younger sister.
It was a chance for her to finally escape that suffocating capsule, reliant on countless machines.
The second thing that came to mind was business.
This drug and this knowledge are worth more than gold—truly priceless.
After all, this knowledge came from a transcendent being who had once reached the rank of Archmage and later became a necromancer by contracting with the Throne of Sin, a being who was both demon and fallen angel.
Knowledge of an incomplete form of immortality. And the Incomplete Elixir of Immortality.
Of course, compared to true immortality, it was absurdly insignificant.
The old man had just given it a grand name while stuffing it with knowledge to merely extend his life.
Still, it wasn’t completely unrelated to immortality.
He had, after all, half-succeeded in escaping the concept of death and achieved a partial extension of life.
That must be why the system allowed such an outrageous name.
‘If a true form of immortality exists…’
It would probably be an Authority. At least on the level of the Golden Tower.
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is—
If the Miracle Guild uses this knowledge to help those who want to extend their lives?
Not an endless extension like that old man, but just ten more years?
That would be entirely feasible.
It could also help maintain the bodies of those in comas, like my sister, preventing them from deteriorating.
It’s a business that transcends the limits of humanity.
Enough to elevate the Miracle Guild not just to South Korea’s best, but the world’s greatest healer guild.
But caution is needed. This knowledge is both poison and temptation.
“The knowledge I’ll pass on must never be known by anyone else. Only Guildmaster Gi So-young and Min Chorong. No one else is allowed.”
If this knowledge is obtained, it will make them a target.
Politicians who crave longer lives. Hunters who wish to explore the Abyss for just a little longer. They will all seek it.
Indeed, this knowledge is equal to—or greater than—pure gold or 100% pure mithril.
Gi So-young listened closely to my serious and resolute words.
“The knowledge I’ll give you is about extending life.”
“Are you out of your mind?!”
She leapt to her feet in shock at my words.
It’s that serious.
“Don’t worry. I’ll set up safeguards. I’m only going to give you a small fragment of the knowledge.”
In the end, the Incomplete Elixir of Immortality is essential to prolong life.
In fact, the core of the necromancer’s research was centered around creating that elixir.
‘Though sourcing the materials won’t be easy.’
Judging by the massive amount the old man had, and the additional reward I received, I probably won’t need to recreate it.
I waited patiently for Gi So-young to calm down.
Before long, she returned to her guildmaster persona and began questioning me in detail.
I answered sincerely.
“So, unless I supply the Elixir of Immortality, the life extension technique is only half complete. As for replicating the elixir? That’s likely impossible. Without the help of the system, Earthlings could never create something like it.”
Gi So-young nodded, showing she understood.
After a long pause, she finally spoke.
“This isn’t something I can decide alone. I’ll talk it over with the guild’s key executives and make a decision. They’ll likely agree. Still, we’re bound to become a target. That much is certain.”
“Ask for help from the Dangun Guild.”
At my suggestion, Gi So-young narrowed her eyes.
She seemed to ask with her gaze, ‘How much do you know?’
“I know. I know that Dangun Genius is in love with you.”
Surprisingly, the beautiful woman in front of me was the object of affection of South Korea’s top Hunter and head of its most powerful family—Dan Gunjihyuk.
The fact that Dangun Guild members were dispatched to the Miracle Guild was entirely thanks to his goodwill.
“Of course, use that fact—but make sure to offer proper compensation. We’ll be raking in so much money and influence anyway. We’re fully capable of going global. If needed, I could introduce you to a few connections… but I can’t vouch for them entirely. For now, Dangun Genius should be a reliable shield.”
I hesitated, then added one last thing.
“And you like Dan Gunjihyuk too, don’t you?”
In the not-so-distant future, the two of them would officially announce their relationship.
Within six months, they would be engaged.
And shortly after that, married.
They would go on to have a child and live happily together—until the moment I returned in this regression.
Gi So-young looked at me silently.
Her gaze held many emotions.
Honestly, I hadn’t planned to reveal future knowledge like this.
But it was necessary for the business.
She must’ve known that too, which is why she didn’t rebuke me.
“I apologize for revealing your secret. Please think about it carefully. I just want my sister to be a little more comfortable thanks to this technology. That’s all.”
In the end, more than money—what matters most to me is my sister’s well-being.
After saying that, I left the room, leaving the pensive Gi So-young behind.
Then I checked on my sister and headed straight for the Black Market.
