I Became the Administrator of the Hunter Gallery Chapter 18

Chapter 18

What are monsters, anyway? Essentially, they are enemies that threaten peace and are a collection of nasty thoughts.

Unless they’re a higher form of being, they’re basically villains. They should be running at me to kill me, normally.

Why won’t they fight me? I don’t remember it being like this when I was a hero.

Did something change when I crossed over to Earth? Some kind of Hunter-friendly patch?

Maybe they got beaten up by Hunters so much that they started running away whenever they see humans.

Yeah, that must be it! I glanced around the area.

Indeed, there were Hunters grouped here and there, training against Goblins.

However, the Goblins would charge straight at the Hunters as soon as they emerged from the Gate.

So, that’s not it…. It’s not because they were beaten up too much.

Should I ask the Assistant Admins?

— [Admin]: Hey guys

— [Elsa]: Admin. I wonder if you’ve had your meal. (I want to quit managing; I want to quit managing)

— [D-rank Porter]: I just saw a picture of three male Orcs mating….

— [HunterYaKaeYo]: Admin ^^ when are you going to manage the gallery??

— [Admin]: I’m on a quest at the Gate right now

— [Elsa]: A quest? The Queen has never heard of such a thing. (Is this a hero’s task or what? LOL)

— [Admin]: The Goblins won’t fight me….

Elsa, who’s roughly a B-rank Hunter, and D-rank Porter and HunterYaKaeYo, who’ve posted plenty of verification posts from the field, should have some idea.

Maybe I can get a meaningful response from at least one of them.

— [HunterYaKaeYo]: Does Admin also work as a Hunter? I thought you only stayed indoors ^^

— [Admin]: Why do you say that….

— [HunterYaKaeYo]: I’m the only one managing the gallery, it’s tough ^^

— [Elsa]: Goblins are monsters born to kill humans. (The only time they’d run away is when they’ve stolen something)

— [D-rank Porter]: Uh…. The more I look at this Orc mating picture, the more interesting it seems….

Why did I expect anything?

These guys are definitely doing this on purpose because I made them work.

— [Admin]: What are you saying, Porter

— [D-rank Porter]: Admin, do you want to see it too?! It’s oddly appealing

— [D-rank Porter]: (Picture of three male Orcs in a threesome play. JPG)

— [Elsa]: You disgusting bastard!!!!

— [HunterYaKaeYo]: His parents must have really moved to America ^^

Ugh…. Dizzy. Porter really is a natural-born Assistant Admin. If only he didn’t act like Porter.

— [Admin]: So, you guys don’t know either?

— [Elsa]: The weaker you look, the more Goblins will attack. (You don’t even know that, hero? LOL)

— [HunterYaKaeYo]: That’s what I know too ^^

— [Elsa]: YaKaeYo is just a girl who rides buses. (What do you know, you sly fox LOL)

— [Elsa]: But didn’t you say you weren’t a Hunter? (Why the sudden change of story?)

— [Admin]: I just tried out being a Hunter~

— [Elsa]: Do you think being a Hunter is a joke? (Don’t underestimate this job, rookie. Back in my day~~)

— [Admin]: Just focus on managing the gallery, please 🖕🏻

— [Elsa]: Never let it go 🖕🏻🖕🏻

The Assistant Admins don’t know, and there’s nothing on the gallery about monsters not fighting back.

Is it because I haven’t made enough “effort”? Should I put in more effort by chasing them down and appealing?

Alright. I’ll channel the aggro I used to draw in the gallery here!

“Goblins!!! Don’t run away from me!!!! I don’t have any gear or skills! Just one hit! Let me land one hit!”

“Kreeek!”

The Goblins scattered, fleeing from the red-haired man.

They thought he had vanished for good. But why was he here?

The Goblins vividly remembered. That red hair, that face, that voice, and even his stride.

His existence itself was imprinted in the DNA of all monsters as pure terror.

That man! He’s definitely the Hero to the Goblins!!!

“Hey, hey…. Look over there….”

“Why?”

The two Hunters, absorbed in training, turned their heads toward Admin.

“The Goblins…. They’re running away from that Hunter….”

“Dude! Don’t lie. How could such aggressive monsters do that?”

The first Hunter nudged the second in response.

“Hey! Rookies! If you turn your back in real combat, it’s a death sentence!”

Instructor Gorg, who was busy teaching the rookie Hunters, was short on patience.

“No, that’s not it, Instructor Gorg! That red-haired Hunter…. something’s odd!”

The second Hunter was telling the truth. An unbelievable scene unfolded before the instructor’s eyes.

Dozens of Goblins were running away. Chasing them was a red-haired man.

No matter what he yelled or cursed, the Goblins wouldn’t look at him.

In fact, their eyes seemed different.

It was as if they were confronting something they shouldn’t encounter.

Their gaze was exactly that of someone facing the pinnacle of terror.

“Instructor, have you ever seen anything like this?”

The second Hunter questioned the instructor, who was deep in thought.

It’s common for Hunters to chase down monsters. But they hadn’t even fought.

“No. I’ve never seen it.”

“Th-Then? What is that?”

“As expected, even Instructor Gorg doesn’t have such skills?”

“I’ve only heard of it.”

“Knew it! I expected no less from you, Instructor!”

“It’s a skill called Fear Aura, which is rarely unlocked by B-rank or higher Awakened Ones.”

“Huh. No way….”

“Yes. It’s an incredible skill that instills extreme fear in any target who meets the gaze. I’ve only heard rumors about it.”

“A skill like that…!”

“But that skill can only be used on a single target. At most, five, even if fully mastered!”

“Does that mean that guy is??”

“He’s an Awakened One of an incomprehensibly high rank….”

“Gasp!!”

But such an Awakened One shouldn’t even exist…. The instructor suddenly started questioning his career as a Hunter.

“But why would such a high-ranking Awakened be here at a Gate like this?”

“Most likely, for pleasure.”

“Pardon?”

“The pleasure of instilling terror in dozens of targets with his own power! Look at his face. Listen to the man’s voice.”

The rookie Hunters perked up their ears, hearing Admin’s shouts echoing everywhere, “Please fight me!!”

“Now you see. With shouts like those, he must be experiencing immense pleasure.”

“A Hunter of that rank exists?!”

“If you’re confident, go up to that Hunter and ask his rank.”

“!!!!”

The two rookies froze on the spot.

A sudden thought struck them: the Fear Aura might spread to them as well.

“Rookies, this will undoubtedly be a valuable lesson for you.”

“A lesson? What do you mean?”

“That Hunter won’t just stop there. He’ll throw the Goblins into terror and deliver them a miserable end.”

“You mean we should observe his power closely!”

The first Hunter replied.

“You catch on fast, rookie. Look at that Hunter, who has now stopped his pursuit.”

Just as the instructor said, the red-haired Hunter was standing still, catching his breath.

“Amateurs would think that Hunter is simply exhausted from all the running.”

“So…. are you saying he’s preparing a skill?”

As soon as the second Hunter said this, the red-haired Hunter slowly bent down.

“Take a good look at that stance. There’s not a single gap. Truly remarkable.”

“!!!!”

Then, the Hunter touched the ground and quietly picked up a small stone.

“No way! Is he about to use that skill!!!!”

“Instructor Gorg! If my assumption is correct….”

“Yes, rookie! But that skill is far too dangerous to use here!! What level has that Hunter reached….”

The red-haired Hunter, now ready, pulled his arm back with the stone in hand.

“It’s really starting!! Everyone, brace yourselves for impact!!”

“Yes, sir!!”

The rookies hid behind the trees. What unfolded was a surprising sight.

Swish! Thud!

The stone thrown by the red-haired Hunter hit the back of a Goblin’s head precisely.

The Goblin staggered, then collapsed immediately.

“Huh…? Instructor?!”

“…”

Astonishingly, the red-haired Hunter hadn’t used any skill at all.

He had simply picked up a stone and thrown it. It was a scene that could be explained in one sentence.

The instructor was engulfed in immense confusion. The conclusion he reached was shocking.

The red-haired Hunter was just a weakling, and the instructor had mistaken him for a master of the hidden arts.

“What the heck. He just threw a stone, didn’t he?”

“Was the instructor’s eye wrong?”

“Come on…. There’s no way the instructor can’t tell the difference between a skill and stone-throwing.”

The murmuring of the rookies made the instructor look more foolish with each passing second.

No! If this goes on, my authority and dignity as an instructor will crumble!!!

This was the greatest crisis of his life.

“Hmph…. So that’s how it was, huh….”

He rubbed his nose, trying to look like he understood something. Then, he thought frantically.

“Instructor! Didn’t that Hunter just throw a stone?”

Yes. He did. But he couldn’t admit that.

“Ah…. It seems I had too high expectations of you. Keeping up with that speed is still beyond your level….”

“!!!!”

“That Hunter…. used that skill in rapid succession. Eighty-two times.”

“He used it eighty-two times!!!??”

“Is that even possible???”

“To a rookie’s eyes, it may have looked like simple stone-throwing…. But I saw it. That Hunter’s speed.”

“As expected of you, Instructor!!!”

“Rookies! It will take you a hundred years to reach that level! We only advance through diligence!”

“Diligence!!”

It worked! They bought it! I can’t believe I escaped this crisis.

Only after seeing the inspired expressions on the rookies’ faces could Instructor Gorg finally feel relieved.

Unaware of what lay ahead for him in the future…

***

Those damn Goblins! They’re the first monsters to treat me like a fool with such pointless training.

“What’s wrong with my face?”

The Goblins seemed to be shrieking mindlessly, but there was hidden meaning in their cries. They had a simple language structure, apparently.

Roughly interpreting their words, they seemed to be saying, “That face! Run!!”

“Is my face that intimidating? I was called handsome back in the otherworld. Did they really run just because of my face?”

It was a question even I couldn’t easily answer.

And this quest is a tough task! I thought it’d be a simple quest, but it’s not that at all.

I never imagined the monsters would run away without even fighting.

I can’t believe it’s this hard just to catch one Goblin.

【First Task

[Defeat any 5 monsters – Reward: HunGallery Icon, Voting Feature]

[Progress: 1/5]

Seems like the gene for Korea’s traditional folk game, rock throwing, hasn’t faded.

A +15 buffed stone – the oldest weapon in human history and an excellent communication tool.

“Why would I need a C-rank weapon when I can just use a stone?”

One stone throw = One Goblin kill

Not a bad exchange rate. Assuming I hit every shot, of course.

“If I want to keep playing with my Hunter Fanboys, I guess I’ll just have to throw a few more stones.”

Alright, let’s become a human catapult!
