Chapter 4
[Barter Request!]
[Barter Request!]
Barter request notifications began flooding in like crazy.
Whenever I tried to view a message, another one would pop up and cover it.
Whoa, hold on a second.
I don’t even know what you guys want to trade!
I focused all my attention and managed to open one of them.
[Barter Request Form]
[10 units of pure gold → Golem’s Activation Core]
Pure gold, 10 units? Hey, haven’t you guys ever fought a golem before?
Then, more request forms started pouring in. I opened the next one.
[Barter Request Form]
[Apartment ownership rights for Seocho Banpo Xi → Golem’s Activation Core]
I knew it from day one, but these guys don’t know the meaning of ‘moderation.’
Or are you trying to play some kind of petty game with me, ‘Admin’?
If this keeps up… I’ll start banning everyone for 10,000,000 days, okay?
- I said the core is mine. [392]
- Admin is just crazy. [239]
- So, does this mean Admin has fought a golem before? [324]
- The porter survives yet another day! [2]
- Please trade the core with me!!!! [192]
- Potions were nothing, lol. [320]
- Do you accept mortgage loans too? [120]
… It doesn’t seem like they’re messing with me.
The gallery was burning several times hotter than when I first put up the potions.
[Real-time transaction requests: 1,382]
How am I supposed to review all of these one by one?
At this rate, I’ll be reviewing request forms until sunset.
Ah, screw it! It’s better to say it directly.
Title: [Throne Usurper Admin] Guys, Stop.
I’m only trading the Activation Core for a bed and a desk.
Send me something that fits, or I’ll start banning.
If they’re even remotely human, they should listen to me now that I’ve threatened them with a ban.
I don’t actually intend to ban anyone, but I desperately need a warm and cozy bed right now.
Now I’ll just choose the ones who’ve put up items that can fit in my room.
Just gotta be careful about those beds falling from the sky….
Title: ???: The Activation Core is being traded for a bed and a desk.
Haha, Admin’s just testing us. Everyone knows that, right?
Don’t get tricked by that statement. He’s saying, “Just send me something decent that I might like.”
I knew this day would come. Behold, my “Eunma Apartment.” It’s even the reconstructed version.
Did Eunma Apartments even get rebuilt, lol?
ㄴ Reconstructed Eunma Apartment? I’m going for the Bundang Parkview Apartment.
ㄴ Haha, but Parkview got swallowed by a Gate, lol.
ㄴ Bundang Parkview (Pre-Gate version)
ㄴ Hahahahaha.
Rich folks are jumping out of the woodwork now.
ㄴ If I hadn’t awakened, I wouldn’t have become a Hunter, damn it.
ㄴ Are you rich?
ㄴ I was a full-time investor before the Gate incidents.
ㄴ You were a jobless bum.
Title: So, does this mean Admin has used the Activation Core before?
Weren’t there only four of those in all of Korea…? How did you even use it?
Yeah, that’s right. Golems rarely appear in the first place.
ㄴ They’re monsters from B-rank Gates. If you mess with them recklessly, you’ll get a gravestone in return.
ㄴ Gravestone, haha.
ㄴ Golems handcraft your gravestone themselves, lol.
Recently, the large guild Muggle Gathering farmed a core.
ㄴ This is true. There were even confirmation posts about it.
ㄴ How did they manage it?
ㄴ I think the leader of Muggle Gathering is negotiating with the Hunter Management Bureau.
ㄴ For real?
ㄴ They offered 4 billion won, but the leader demanded double, haha.
ㄴ Ah, seriously, haha. 4 billion won isn’t enough to get it, lol.
Title: Admin! Trade the Activation Core for this!
(A rough picture of something the size of a bowling ball .JPG)
I can’t register my chest as an item! Haha.
Okay, send one more, and I’ll accept your request.
ㄴ ? You’re not the Admin.
ㄴ Who cares about that?
ㄴ Someone clueless has arrived, haha.
Admin, if you don’t accept my trade, I’ll post my picture too.
ㄴ Do it, do it, do it.
ㄴ But I’m a guy, is that okay?
ㄴ Are you sure about that?
“Sigh.”
These people aren’t human. Why do I keep picturing excited apes?
Among over a thousand people, not a single one wants to trade for furniture.
By the way, was that picture really hers? If she sent me two or three more like it, I might consider the trade….
Even in this chaos, notifications continued to bombard my ears. I was too tired to even check them anymore.
‘Should I just close the Treasure Shop?’
Just as I was about to give up, one more notification rang.
[Barter Request!]
[ID: HunterYaKaeYo]
(A rough picture of the left breast with a mole as proof. .JPG)
Huh? Isn’t this the fixed username of that person who used to post R-rated images?
[Single-size bed, wooden desk → Golem’s Activation Core]
Finally, a user who understands my true intentions appeared. Though she’s shaking not-so-pure assets.
“But if she thinks this is what I wanted, she’s dead wrong!”
***
Meanwhile, Director Lee Seung-cheol of the Hunter Management Bureau grabbed his throbbing head.
“So, what is this again?”
“The Hunter Gallery’s….”
“I know that much! What the hell is this Treasure Shop of the Admin! This didn’t exist before!”
The director’s sharp reprimand made his assistant, Kim Ji-ah, almost scream in fright.
“We’re still investigating… but it seems to be a platform where users can purchase and trade items that Admin is selling….”
‘Where did such a person come from? Until now, no one has awakened with abilities like these.’
Lee Seung-cheol sighed as he glared at Kim Ji-ah.
“Did he really say that he used the Golem’s Activation Core?”
“Yes, that’s what the Admin personally revealed, Director….”
“So, he traded the Golem’s Activation Core for a bed and a desk?”
“That’s correct…
The problem isn’t that he traded the core for a bed…
The reason… It’s the reason he traded such a rare item for something as ordinary as furniture.
‘If he’s willing to trade the Activation Core for some furniture, then it’s just junk in his eyes. Where did a Hunter of his calibre suddenly come from?’
But that wasn’t the only thing that was making the Director nervous.
It was the variable that the Treasure Shop represented: the fact that the desires of an individual could impact the entire market.
Potion prices had already plummeted to below ten thousand won.
After trading a Golem’s Activation Core for a few pieces of furniture, who knew what would happen next?
And, more troubling was the fact that all this power was concentrated in one person’s hands.
‘No single individual should be allowed to wield such power outside the influence of public authority. What if he starts selling weapons…?’
The large guilds were already slipping out of the Bureau’s control. Freelancing Hunters were becoming too numerous and too influential to ignore.
It was only natural that Hunters were risking their lives to get their hands on whatever items the Admin listed in the Treasure Shop.
Moreover, the Bureau had lost the public’s trust as they failed to control the increasing number of Gates.
But if a national institution starts getting pushed around by an individual? Or if they fail to capture a criminal who becomes absurdly powerful?
‘I have to prevent that from happening at all costs.’
However, not all news was bleak and hopeless.
“Come in.”
At the Director’s call, a woman swung the door open and walked into the office.
“Agent Park Seo-yoon, reporting to the Director.”
A badge on her chest shimmered, marking her as an elite agent.
Kim Ji-ah swallowed hard at the sight. She had only heard rumours about the elite agents; it was her first time meeting one in person.ss
Park Seo-yoon’s awakened rank was A-rank. In the Hunter Gallery, she was known as HunterYaKaeYo.
“So, we’ve secured the Golem’s Activation Core?”
“Yes, Director.”
At the very moment when users were bombarding the Admin with high-value items to trade for the core…
Park Seo-yoon had focused on the Admin’s true desire and registered a bed and a desk as the trade items.
That’s how the core ended up in the hands of the Hunter Management Bureau.
“Agent Park Seo-yoon, well done. Does Muggle Gathering know about this?”
“The Admin posted in the gallery himself that he traded the core for furniture. Therefore, I believe Muggle Gathering would have caught wind of it by now.”
A grin quickly spread across Lee Seung-cheol’s face at Park Seo-yoon’s orderly report.
“Agent Park Seo-yoon! I knew you’d pull it off! This feels not just satisfying, but downright delicious!”
Muggle Gathering… They had the nerve to demand 8 billion instead of 4 billion for the core. Well, guess they don’t need it anymore.
He could vividly picture the confident expression on the Guild Master’s face.
On top of that, Muggle Gathering had monopolized the potion market too.
Now the Guild Master’s smile would be turning sour.
“Do you have any idea about the Admin’s identity or location?”
“There are no concrete clues as of yet.”
“Good. Agent Park Seo-yoon, I’m assigning you a new main duty.”
“My main duty, sir?”
“Yes. You don’t need to worry about monitoring the gallery’s activities anymore. Your job now is to track the Admin. Stick to him like glue. He’s bound to drop some clues. Don’t miss a single word he says in the gallery.”
Park Seo-yoon nodded at the Director’s firm tone.
“I have a meeting scheduled with Muggle Gathering’s Guild Master soon, Director.”
“Understood. Let’s go give those Muggle Gathering bastards a taste of their own medicine.”
With that, Lee Seung-cheol adjusted his attire and prepared to leave the office.
“Um… Director, I have a question.”
Park Seo-yoon’s words halted him mid-step.
“What is it?”
Lee Seung-cheol checked his watch briefly before responding.
“Will I be carrying out the duty the same way as before…?”
Despite her slightly flushed cheeks, the Director remained resolute.
“As you know, it’s the most effective method. You’ll have to push through a little harder.”
Before Park Seo-yoon could say anything else, Director Lee Seung-cheol left the office.
The moment both figures disappeared from view, the elite agent let out a deep sigh, as if all strength had left her body.
“Ugh, this is seriously driving me crazy….”
—
“Ahh, this is so comfy. This is what I’m talking about. This is heaven.”
I wasn’t just in Ohsan—Ohsan felt like a dream. I couldn’t resist that mole on her chest.
After finishing cleaning up, I’d been rolling around on the bed for quite some time.
The gentle scent wafting from the plush microfiber blanket tickled my nose.
The desk I traded for was neither too high nor too low; it was just right for my height.
Oh, I’m getting sleepy.
The overwhelming comfort was making me drowsy even though the sun hadn’t set yet.
But disappearing after throwing a bait wouldn’t be like the Admin at all.
I logged back into the gallery again.
