Chapter 1
I find more Joy in witnessing people feel sorrow and regret because of me, rather than hearing them say they love me..
Anyone can say with words that they love and care for me, but when the people around me look at me with sorrow, regret, and despair, I can feel that they love me more than any words could express.
Has God taken pity on someone like me? Or have I become a puppet in a puppet show for God’s filthy amusement?
Since my first death, I’ve continually come back to life.
Of course, not in the same place, same country, or even the same world. I would be born in places where the history and the language were completely new to me.
Thanks to that, in every life, I’ve repeatedly adorned my end beautifully, drawing out the essence of love from their hearts and giving them a stepping stone to overcome hardship and trials in life.
“Lily, are you sleeping while sitting up this time?”
My sister, Eve’s disapproving voice brought me back to reality, interrupting my deep thoughts as I reflected on my past deeds.
“Ah, no, Sis, I’m awake!”
Heh heh… our beautiful sister Eve. She’s the protagonist of the script in this life. A wonderful character who will rise above the hardships and trials that I, her burden, will impose upon her, only to grow stronger!
“That’s a relief. Anyway, hurry up and get ready for lunch, Lily.”
“Okay!”
I almost lost myself in useless daydreams again, but thankfully, my sister’s words brought me back to my senses. It doesn’t happen when others call me, but does my amazing sister have some kind of magic that wakes me up?
As I followed my sister, I silently promised to stop indulging in pointless thoughts… a promise I broke in less than three minutes. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in my unchanged nature.
While continuing to follow my sister, I started to question where she was going. She wasn’t taking the usual path to the dining hall, but instead heading in a different direction.
“Sis, this isn’t the way to the dining hall, is it?”
At my question, she gave me a small smile, the kind you’d give when looking at an adorable hamster.
“Oh, right. Since the sunlight is so nice today, I thought it’d be good to eat in the garden. What do you think, Lily? Or Should we just head to the dining hall instead?”
Faced with my sister’s genuine inquiry, I shook my head vigorously.
“No! I love eating in the garden! It’s warm, and there are lots of flowers, so it’s great!”
Seeing me eagerly express my preference for eating lunch in the garden rather than the dining hall, my sister tousled my hair.
The more happy memories we create, the more touching it’ll be when we part, and the longer they’ll remember me. Heh Heh. Just thinking about it makes me happy.
As we continued walking, we soon arrived at the kitchen, where the delicious food for the mansion was prepared.
“All the food and drinks I asked for are ready, right?”
“Yes, my lady. Here they are.”
The head chef of the kitchen, who looked to be the most senior, respectfully handed a basket filled with delicious food for us to enjoy in the garden to Eve in response to her question.
“Alright then, Lily, shall we go?”
I nodded with a bright smile, taking my sister’s hand and heading quickly toward the garden on the left.

Chatting with my sister, I walked lightly and soon arrived at the garden.
Sitting in front of the small round table in the garden, there were vegetable-packed sandwiches and fruit juice in the basket.
The fruit juice was fine, but wasn’t there too much vegetable in the sandwich…?
I tried to pretend to accidentally drop the vegetables from the sandwich when my sister wasn’t looking.
“Lily?”
Yikes…
“How many times have I told you not to be picky with your food, Lily? You need to eat lots of vegetables to stay healthy.”
At my sister’s scolding, I shrank down in embarrassment. Vegetables are tasteless. I never imagined that even after being born as a demon, I would end up eating more vegetables than meat.
Isn’t it normal for demons to love blood and eat lots of meat?
Of course, unlike me, our beautiful sister Eve can use powerful blood magic, just as you’d expect from the child of the Demon King.
It’s said that the children of past Demon Kings have always been seven in number. Humans living in the middle realm claim that it represents the Seven Deadly Sins, and our beautiful, talented sister is in charge of jealousy among those sins. What could such a perfect sister have to be jealous about?
Thinking about my sister’s amazing qualities made me feel happy again.
“Lily?”
But harsh reality can’t be changed by my happy daydreams.
As I imagined my sister, my once bright expression began to crumble again like a piece of crumpled paper, with my sister’s words throwing me back into the bitter reality.
Seeing my face, my sister sighed lightly, smiled, and said, “Lily, if you eat all of this sandwich, I’ll read you a book again when we get back to the room.”
She was trying to make a deal with me, seeing that I wasn’t eating my sandwich. How could she try to bribe me with such a thing? This is an unbearable humiliation! But looking at Eve’s eager expression, I decided to let it slide this time.
It’s not because I like when Eve holds me in her arms and reads me a book. I’m a person who enjoys reading because I’m intellectual like that. It’s absolutely not because leaning on Eve’s chest feels soft and comforting.
Definitely not…
***
“Nom Nom…”
Sitting in the chair across from me, frowning and scrunching my face, I began to eat the vegetable sandwich, and Eve watched me with a fond smile, but also a hint of concern.
Many Demon Kings have come before us, and they’ve had many brothers and sisters, but there have always been exactly seven. No more than seven, and no fewer.
The reason for the consistent number of the Demon King’s children is that each one represents one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Pride, Greed, Wrath, Sloth, Lust, Gluttony, and me, Jealousy.
With the power of Jealousy, I was born able to use my unique blood magic.
“Chomp… Chomp…”
However, Lily, as the eighth child, was born without any of the powers of the Seven Deadly Sins and could only handle a small amount of magic.
In the middle realm, being able to use magic signifies that one is chosen, and thus, magicians are rare. If a child with magical potential is found, even if they come from an orphanage, they might be adopted into a noble family or scouted by powerful people. But in the Demon Realm, where the density of mana is high, most children are born able to use magic, and only a few are born without magical abilities.
Moreover, while most demons, especially the children of the Demon King, are born with powerful physiques capable of overwhelming human Sword Masters or Archmages in the middle realm, Lily’s body, perhaps because she wasn’t a fated child, is no different from that of an ordinary human girl, except for the two pairs of black horns on her head.
The reason I insist on forcing Lily to eat vegetables, despite her much weaker body compared to other demons, is my small hope that it will help her gain at least a bit of strength.
Lily usually loves meat and won’t even look at vegetables, so I make her eat them for a balanced diet, but she never understands my concern and always tries to avoid eating them.
Seriously…
“Sis! I ate everything! Look at this! I didn’t leave a single bite! I did well, right?”
While I was deep in thought about Lily’s future, she had devoured the two sandwiches filled with the vegetables she hated so much and proudly announced it to me with crumbs all over her mouth.
She looked just like a squirrel stuffing its cheeks with almonds, and her adorable appearance made it impossible for me to hold back my laughter.
“Hehe, yes, yes, you did great. Good girl, Lily, my pretty little sister. You ate two whole sandwiches, that’s amazing!”
At my praise, Lily’s eyes gleamed brightly, and she asked in a hopeful voice,
“Right? Right? So now you’ll read me a book when we go back, right?”
I wanted to ask what she was doing as she rummaged around her pockets, but I decided to wait and see.
Rummaging… rummaging…
Lily continued searching, and finally, with a bright smile, she pulled out something from her pocket.
“This is a present for you, Sis! It was so pretty, I had to give it to you!”
“Oh my, can I really accept such a gift?”
At my question, Lily nodded with a proud look, clearly pleased with herself.
“Of course! You have to take it! Now, shall we go read that book?”
“Of course, Lily. We made a promise, didn’t we? Alright, let’s go now.”
“Yes!”
With light steps, Lily and I headed to her room in the mansion, creating another unforgettable memory together.
***
“Hehe.”
I’m happy.
