I Got a Summoned Creature, so I’m Climbing the Tower Chapter 56

Chapter 56

Understanding her brightening expression, I gave a smile, but my younger sister was under a massive misunderstanding.

“You absolutely can’t.”

“Why not?!”

“As we go higher, there will be monsters so terrifying you can’t even imagine. You need to prepare for that in advance.”

“Well, wouldn’t Nika take care of it then?”

Glancing at Nika, she nodded and transformed into an even more fearsome form, her acidic saliva dripping ominously from her mouth.

【Education?】

“Hiccup…! I-I’ll… hiccup… clear it myself!”

With a hiccup, she stepped forward and swung the Holy Sword, eliciting a grotesque scream, as the Kill Log appeared.

【3 enemies eliminated.】

Even though my younger sister was technically hunting as a hunter, from her expression, she looked more like prey.

Was she really that scared? Compared to Nika, it was rather adorable.

I glanced at Nika beside me, her acidic saliva still dripping onto the ground. My sister must truly be a dimension of her own.

───────────────

【10 enemies eliminated.】

───────────────

“She’s quite fast, though.”

“Well, even if she looks like that, she’s at the top tier among S-ranks.”

“If she just adjusts her posture a bit, she could become even stronger.”

Even Lillian and Heavenly Demon’s evaluations weren’t bad. She’s really grown a lot. Is this what it feels like to raise children? I think I’d like to have one son and one daughter when I get married someday.

───────────────

【15 enemies eliminated.】

───────────────

“We’re halfway there!!!!!”

She celebrated with joy, but a monster leaped at her.

At that moment, she adjusted her posture, swung her sword widely, and cut down all the remaining monsters in one blow, clearing half the forest in the process.

───────────────

【30 enemies eliminated.】

───────────────

【Mission Clear!】

Rewards are being distributed.

【28th-floor record achieved!】

Registered in the Hall of Fame.

【Would you like to move to the next floor?】

Accept / Decline

“…Accept.”

【Entering the 29th floor.】

As soon as we arrived on the 29th floor, my younger sister collapsed onto the ground.

“I did ittttttt!!!!!”

“You worked hard.”

As I patted her head and praised her, she clung to my leg. What does this mean?

“I’m freeloading on this floor!!!”

“Sister, isn’t that a little too bold?”

“Freeloading!!!”

Even Lillian and Heavenly Demon nodded in agreement, so I had no choice but to allow it. Well, since she handled everything on the last floor, she deserves a break.

“Then I’ll take the lead on this floor.”

───────────────

【29th-floor mission: Defeat three Ancient Trees.】

【Time limit: 12 hours.】

【Restriction: Martial arts cannot be used.】

【Restricted equipment: All divine artifacts.】

【Rule: Code of Murim.】

───────────────

“This doesn’t seem feasible…”

“…….”

Heavenly Demon looked dejected while Lillian stepped forward confidently.

“Ahem, this floor seems to be tailored just for me.”

As she pulled out her staff from a subspace and swung it, a giant magic circle appeared in the sky, summoning meteors.

If only those meteors hadn’t gone poof and disappeared.

【Due to the effects of the Ancient Tree, magic cannot be used.】

“Wh-what is this?! Ancient Trees are said to resist magic, but against overwhelming power, that shouldn’t matter. How is this happening?!”

“Could it be that Lillian’s powers were sealed as she descended to the lower floors, preventing her from exerting overwhelming strength?”

“Ah, that makes sense…”

She tucked her staff away, slumped next to Heavenly Demon, and sat down with a sigh.

“Welcome to the club of the useless.”

“Sniff, sniff… we’re useless.”

Darami looked at them disdainfully.

“Leave it to me.”

A black aura rippled and began to spread outward. Gradually, soldiers materialized from the darkness.

“These are my soldiers.”

Was this even possible? Is she regaining her strength as we ascend the Tower?

The soldiers scattered in all directions, and soon the sound of battle rang out.

“They’re over there.”

At Darami’s cold suggestion to leave behind the useless ones and move on, I looked at Lillian and Heavenly Demon. They stared back with wistful expressions.

“I’ll be back.”

Following Darami, I moved closer to the sound, which grew increasingly grotesque as we approached.

It was good that my younger sister stayed behind to console them. If she had come along, she would have clung to me, scared out of her wits.

Soon, I could see Darami’s soldiers battling the Ancient Trees, and surprisingly, they were holding their own quite well.

“Heh, heh, how about that? These are the soldiers who once guarded my kingdom.”

“But they failed to protect it, didn’t they?”

“Nyooooooooot!!!!!”

Raising both arms in a threatening pose, Darami marched toward me, looking like she was ready to throw a punch.

“To insult my kingdom! Even if you’re my master, I won’t let this slide!”

Up close, though, she just looked adorable. If I took a picture, she’d probably have something to say about it.

Punch! Punch! Punch! Punch! Punch! Punch! Punch! Punch!

Darami repeatedly punched my leg while Nika watched from the side, trembling with restrained irritation.

The moment I nodded, a giant hand materialized from thin air and grabbed Darami.

“Nyooot?!”

【Education.】

“It’s dangerous right now, so can you save it for later?”

【Okay!】

“Nyooot…”

Perhaps relieved to have survived, Darami’s gaze shifted. Where she once looked at me like I was her sworn enemy, now her eyes held a grudge.

…Are those really so different?

───────────────

【1 enemy eliminated.】

───────────────

Meanwhile, one of Darami’s soldiers managed to take down a monster.

Oh, they’re stronger than I thought.

“But these monsters are immune to magic. How do your soldiers manage?”

“The soldiers aren’t using magic. They are my loyal retainers who sacrificed themselves for me.”

As Darami said this, her expression turned somber. It seemed like there was a story there, but asking further would have been impolite.

───────────────

【2 enemies eliminated.】

───────────────

Only one monster remained.

If we defeat this last one, the floor will be cleared.

And then, it’ll be time for the grand 30th floor.

The boss monster awaits us.

───────────────

【3 enemies eliminated.】

───────────────

【Mission Clear!】

Rewards are being distributed.

【29th-floor record achieved!】

Registered in the Hall of Fame.

【Would you like to move to the next floor?】

Accept / Decline

“Decline.”

【Exiting the Tower.】

A bright light enveloped us, and we all returned to the living room. Nika quickly grabbed Darami, who was trying to escape, and disappeared with her.

“S-Save meeeeee!!!”

Darami’s pitiful scream was the last we heard before they vanished.

The three remaining people stared at the scene in shock.

“What trouble has she caused this time?”

“She did have a tendency for impulsive behavior.”

“Poor thing.”

The three of them prayed silently for Darami’s survival with pitiful expressions.

I called them over because it was finally time for the sweet rewards.

Having cleared the 29th floor, my inventory was overflowing with rewards.

It was my role to distribute them fairly.

If they grew stronger, our ascent of the Tower would be safer.

“Let’s see. First, this one’s for my younger sister.”

“For me? What is it? What is it?!”

“See for yourself.”

I took out an orb from my inventory and handed it to her. She asked what it was but swallowed it whole after checking its details.

“So, how does it feel? Any changes?”

“How should I know?”

“You’re so mean! My Holy Sword changed, and you didn’t even notice?!”

“Show me first, then tell me, you idiot!”

My sister kept asking if I noticed anything without even showing the Holy Sword.

It was like when a girl asks if you noticed her pedicure—while wearing shoes.

I rewarded her with a flick to the forehead, and she ran off to her room, yelling about how unfair I was.

Honestly, her temper…

Next, I handed an ancient book to Lillian. Her eyes widened as she carefully received it with both hands. The moment she saw the title, she let out an excited exclamation.

“Th-this is the legendary 101 Jokes of the Tower! Isn’t it?”

“Is it famous?”

“Of course! Gods went to war over obtaining this book!”

There really are a lot of bored gods out there.

To go to war over a joke book…

Lillian eagerly ran off to her room to start reading, leaving me alone with Heavenly Demon.

Finally, for Heavenly Demon, I knew exactly what she’d like.
