Chapter 69
“It’s a joke.”
With a smile, she begins discussing the details of the 55th floor. I don’t understand her at all.
“Actually, there’s not much to tell. The 55th floor is the Sea God’s Territory, and they were incredibly friendly. So, after completing a few simple quests, they let me clear it.”
“Really?”
“Of course.”
She smiles brightly and adds, “This is a secret from hunters in other countries, okay?” I nod in agreement.
“Then, I’ll be off first.”
Saying she still had work left undone and had rushed out too quickly, she leaves, hurrying off to finish her tasks. She feels like a bit of a quirky character—maybe it’s just me?
The next morning.
Just like any other day, I wake up in bed and sit absentmindedly when Nika rubs her cheek against mine happily.
Come to think of it, even though we’ve come overseas, I realize there hasn’t been much change in our routine.
Waking up in the morning for breakfast, lounging around until lunch, playing with Nika, eating dinner, and going to bed.
If it weren’t for my younger sister, Lillian, and the Heavenly Demon constantly barging into my room to drag me shopping, I’d hardly remember that we’re abroad.
“A change is needed.”
【What kind of change?】
“We’re overseas, so I can’t just stay cooped up like this.”
Nika tilts her head in confusion at my words, looking so adorable that I hug her for a while.
Just then, I hear a knock on the door and get out of bed.
“Who is it?”
“Want to go shopping with me?”
It’s my younger sister, knocking on the door and trying to lure me into a shopping trip.
“…No.”
“You don’t have a choice, big brother.”
As soon as I refuse, she decisively pushes open the door and walks in, sniffing the air.
“You smell like a bachelor living alone.”
She wrinkles her nose, delivering the jab without hesitation. I’ve raised a little tiger cub.
Even so, she tries to cajole me, saying,
“I can’t bear the thought of you spending your time so pitifully. Come to our room. Just bring yourself; we’ll take care of everything.”
“No.”
“Why not?!”
When I motion for her to leave, she instead settles onto my bed and starts poking Nika. If Lillian or the Heavenly Demon saw this, they’d probably be horrified.
“The more I look at her, the cuter she gets.”
【…….】
It seems my sister has no sense of danger. If it were me, I’d already be running. Can’t she see Nika trembling with irritation? Thankfully, it looks like she’s going to let this slide.
“So, when will you get ready?”
“Wait, we’re not done talking yet?”
“Today isn’t just shopping. We’re abroad. Surely, you’re not planning to stay holed up in your room the whole time?”
“…….”
The truth hurts; sometimes, facts are violence.
“Today, we’re going to shop for supplies and camp out at a nearby campground. Let’s go!”
“What happened to my opinion?”
“So, you don’t want to? Your lips are curled into a smile, though.”
“When did I ever say I didn’t want to?”
If it’s a camping trip, I’d better pack an overnight bag.
I tell them to wait in the living room while I quickly pack a small bag and head out. My sister, Lillian, and the Heavenly Demon are all waiting.
“This is my first time camping!”
“It reminds me of the old days.”
“Heavenly Demon, have you been camping before?”
“I’ve spent time in the wilderness, living in harmony with nature.”
Watching the Heavenly Demon get lost in nostalgic memories, I realize we won’t make it out at this rate. I urge them to get moving, and they finally do.
By the way, where’s all your luggage?
“Hurry up! I’ve already rented a vehicle!”
“Thorough preparation, huh?”
“Of course! Even Team Leader Cha Mi-rin seemed excited.”
“…….”
Wait a minute. How many people are going on this trip?
I sling my bag over my shoulder and head to the lobby, where Tsurumiya Yui is waiting.
Is she coming too? Well, she is part of the escort team, so it makes sense.
Following her outside, I see a large van—no, a camper waiting for us.
How many people is this for? Just then, Team Leader Cha Mi-rin steps out of the driver’s seat.
Unlike her usual business attire, Cha Mi-rin was dressed in casual clothes suited for a trip.
“I’ll ensure your safety.”
“You seem to be having the most fun here.”
“Do I? It must be your imagination.”
I gave her a doubtful look and boarded the camper.
It was even better than I had imagined, equipped with all sorts of conveniences, including beds large enough for multiple people. However, the refrigerator stood out.
“Is this size even normal?”
“Hmm… good question.”
The campers I had seen on TV or MuTube never had refrigerators this big.
“I made special arrangements,” Cha Mi-rin said, her usual stoic tone replaced with a cheerful voice.
She mentioned stopping at a large supermarket near the campsite to shop for groceries, which was a welcome idea.
The camper sped along until we parked at a large supermarket nearby. As we entered, I noticed an enormous shopping cart.
“This feels bigger than the ones back home.”
“It’s huge, for sure.”
My sister excitedly pushed it around but quickly handed it over to me when it became inconvenient, sweetly asking for help.
It’s only at times like these she’s kind—why not act like this more often?
“Heehee, let’s get lots of snacks that you love, Big Brother!”
“When did I ever say I loved snacks?”
“And we need lamb and beef steaks—your favorites!”
“…Are they?”
It feels like she’s just shopping for herself.
At that moment, Cha Mi-rin, who had disappeared when we entered the supermarket, returned with her cart.
Its contents were staggering. Piles of beer—of all types and brands—overflowed.
“Can we even drink all of that…?”
“Of course. This is just the basics.”
She cheerfully declared that we needed more snacks to go with the beer. She seemed to be enjoying herself the most out of all of us.
“Isn’t this a bit too much?”
“You worry too much, Big Brother. With all the girls here, how could we not finish this?”
“…You might be right.”
Given their appetites, this might not be an issue… but isn’t it way too much regardless?
Even the cashier chuckled as we rang up an almost absurd amount of groceries. To a passerby, it might have looked like we were preparing for a war.
Back at the camper, we loaded up the refrigerator.
It became immediately clear why Cha Mi-rin had insisted on such a large one.
Every single beer fit perfectly into its space. Did she plan for this? Terrifying.
“We’ve arrived.”
The campsite was stunning.
Our reserved spot was already set up for a barbecue party, and everything was ready to go.
We could start grilling meat right away.
In front of us stretched a beautiful beach, its expanse clearing my mind just by looking at it. Yes, this is what my life has been missing.
At last, I felt the emptiness inside me begin to fill.
“Big Brother, let’s start prepping for the barbecue!”
“Already?”
“If we start now, we can eat and relax by dinner!”
How much do they plan to eat…?
Cha Mi-rin, who had already downed a can of beer in one shot, was grinning. It was the first time I’d seen her smile so brightly.
“There’s nothing like beer while working!”
Right, Cha Mi-rin is technically still on the job. I understand now why she’s so happy.
“I’ll prepare some snacks soon.”
“Okay!”
Somehow, I found myself taking care of her. Well, no harm done.
As I prepped the meat for the barbecue using the tools provided, ingredients kept mysteriously disappearing.
“Since when did sausages grow legs?”
“Legs? There are sausages with legs!”
“Finish eating before you speak.”
“Okay!”
Every time I prepared something, it vanished as soon as it was cooked. It was satisfying to see them enjoy the food, but I wish they’d leave some for me.
“My, Han Ji-an, you’re quite skilled at household work,” Tsurumiya Yui remarked with a smile as she helped me. What does she mean by that?
“My family is currently looking for a live-in son-in-law. Interested?”
What does she mean by that?!
“Don’t flirt with my brother!”
“Oh my, flirting? I don’t even have a tail to wag.”
She’s world-class at playing coy.
“Isn’t that right, Darami?”
“Nyohooo?!”
“How’s the sausage?”
“It’s delicious!”
Good. At least that’s settled.
I wondered if I should grill some acorns for Darami as I watched her happily gnawing on a sausage bigger than her.
Then, I resumed grilling the rest of the meat.
Of course, as soon as it was done, it disappeared just as quickly.
Still, it was a fulfilling day.
Actually, forget fulfilling—leave some for me!
