Chapter 111
“What is this…”
Ordin couldn’t hide his confusion.
At first, he thought it was a type of illusion magic.
It might have been a prejudice, but considering it was black magic, he assumed such mental manipulation would be more advanced.
However, as time passed, Ordin realized that he hadn’t fallen victim to any magic.
There was no issue with moving mana, and all his senses were intact.
The most realistic assumption Ordin could make in this situation was that he had been forcibly teleported to another location.
Of course, even that was an unbelievable notion in itself.
‘This place… it’s absurdly far from O’Neill.’
This was the only conclusion Ordin had been able to draw since arriving here.
The place he was now in was far, far away from the O’Neill Kingdom.
The air on his skin felt different, and there wasn’t even a trace of mana to be sensed.
Moreover, the landscape was something unimaginable in or near the O’Neill Kingdom.
The trees, which he had never seen before, and the vast open sea in the distance.
If he weren’t in a combat situation, Ordin might have been lost in admiration for the breathtaking scenery.
Step—step—creak—
After wandering around for a while, Ordin finally opened the door to a mansion before him.
This was the first house he saw after being transported here, but he hadn’t moved recklessly until now, just in case.
It could have been a trap.
However, continuing to be overly cautious in fear of a trap had become frustrating.
No one had responded to his calls from inside, nor was there any sign of life.
Holding his sword tightly, Ordin stepped inside the open door and began inspecting the mansion.
Step—step—
‘Ordinary… No, luxurious.’
It couldn’t be called ordinary when the interior design and furniture were all of high quality.
As the captain of the O’Neill Knight Order, who frequented the royal palace, Ordin could tell.
The decorations and paintings here were of a level that wouldn’t look out of place in the palace.
‘A mansion like this in such a remote location?’
Shing—thunk—
Even after delving deeper into the mansion, he felt no sign of life, so Ordin sheathed his sword.
It seemed there was no one in this house.
It was hard to believe that such a lavish mansion had no caretaker.
Still, Ordin remained on guard as he explored the house, climbing the stairs.
It wasn’t enormous, but it was still quite a large mansion.
As if drawn by some unseen force, Ordin climbed to the very top floor—the fifth floor.
Upon reaching the fifth floor, he opened the first door he saw.
“Huh.”
An exclamation escaped Ordin’s lips involuntarily.
The view was nothing short of spectacular.
While the scenery outside the mansion had already been beautiful, seeing it from here enhanced its magnificence.
The open sea, the city in the distance.
The dark green forest contrasting against the blue sky.
All of it blended into a single, picturesque scene.
It was a view so stunning that one couldn’t help but be amazed.
‘Judging by that architectural style…’
Lost in the scenery for a while, Ordin finally snapped back to reality after some time.
He wasn’t here to admire the view.
Ordin quickly examined the buildings visible near the sea for clues.
The architecture he saw wasn’t that of the O’Neill Kingdom.
If anything, this style of construction…
“The western continent…?”
The likelihood was very high.
The city by the sea supported Ordin’s speculation.
On the Arkaria Continent, the western region was the only area with an environment suitable for building and living near the ocean.
‘From the O’Neill Kingdom… to the western continent in an instant?’
The situation before him suggested that, but Ordin couldn’t easily accept it.
In Ordin’s understanding, spatial magic capable of transporting someone such a long distance didn’t exist.
Even if it were possible, it would require numerous mages preparing for days to cast it.
“This… makes no sense.”
Muttering to himself, Ordin couldn’t tear his gaze away from the distant scenery.
In front of him, a table and chairs were set up.
As if inviting him to sit and enjoy the view.
“Wow. You found the perfect spot right away.”
Shing—
“Who’s there?!”
Startled by a sudden voice from behind, Ordin quickly drew his sword.
But as soon as he saw the figure who had appeared silently behind him, the tension in his grip loosened slightly.
The figure was the leader of the Black Shadow Corps.
The leader of the Black Shadow Corps stood there without a weapon and without any hint of hostility.
“Sorry I’m late.”
“You… you… What’s going on here?!”
“I sent you on a little sightseeing trip. So, how is it? Isn’t it nice here?”
“In this situation, that’s what you’re talking about…?”
Ordin hesitated, unsure of how to deal with the Black Shadow Corps leader, who was calmly admiring the scenery.
This man was undoubtedly an enemy—a wanted criminal of the highest rank who had stolen the O’Neill Kingdom’s greatest treasure years ago.
But Ordin remembered what the man had said earlier.
For now, they had a temporary alliance to defeat their current common enemy and rescue the student from Crescent.
“What happened to him? And the student?”
“Ah, it’s all taken care of.”
“…What?”
Thud—
“Haaa…”
Ordin couldn’t find the words as he watched the leader of the Black Shadow Corps slump into the chair and sigh deeply, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
Did “everything went well” mean that the enemy was defeated and the student was saved?
“But, you see, I’m a bit tired.”
“What do you mean?”
“Can you go finish up for me?”
“Huh?”
Tap—flinch—
When the Black Shadow Corps leader placed a hand on his shoulder, Ordin didn’t rashly swing his sword.
Wooong—
At that moment, he felt his body lift, and once again, the scenery around him began to change.
Although less disorienting than the first time, the queasiness was unmistakable.
“That student should already be back in the kingdom.”
“Wha…”
Ordin’s attention was drawn not to the leader’s words but to the person collapsed in front of him.
The man lying in disarray on the ground was someone Ordin immediately recognized.
It was the same opponent they had confronted earlier.
The one who had annihilated the Silver Eagles and exuded overwhelming power with his complex magic.
“I leave it to you, alright?”
“Wait a second—”
Wooong—
Before Ordin could say anything further, the Black Shadow Corps leader vanished.
Ordin quickly pushed aside any lingering thoughts about the man who had disappeared and turned his attention to the enemy lying before him.
‘Did he really take this guy down on his own?’
It was hard to believe, but the man lying there was unquestionably real.
Although alive, he was completely unconscious.
Swish—
Ordin flipped the body over.
It was a middle-aged man with a pained expression and closed eyes.
Someone Ordin had definitely seen somewhere before.
‘This man…’
While tying the unconscious man’s arms, Ordin calmly tried to recall where he had seen this familiar face.
***
Wooong—
“Haaah.”
Thud—
The leader of the Black Shadow Corps sank into a chair at the villa, the fatigue hitting him like a wave.
It had been a long time since he’d felt dizziness so severe that his strength left his body.
‘It’s definitely exhausting.’
The tension in his body had finally released after dropping Ordin off to wrap things up.
That was probably why the dizziness felt even worse.
Once he transported the First Elder to the island, the fight ended surprisingly quickly.
The First Elder had been troublesome mainly because he was fighting in his preferred location.
A place filled with countless spells and dormant mana, carefully chosen by the First Elder.
Away from that place, there was no way the fight would have gone any other way.
After all, physical attacks were virtually ineffective against him.
‘Getting sleepy…’
The dizziness was quickly followed by drowsiness.
Naturally, the First Elder hadn’t given up just because he’d been dragged to the island.
The island to which the First Elder had been forcibly transported.
That place was, in a way, a dumping ground where all the attacks directed at him were redirected.
After all, his technique wasn’t about absorbing physical attacks but about passing them through space and relocating them elsewhere.
That required a place to safely release the absorbed attacks without worry.
‘The island seems to have taken a beating from all the black magic lately.’
And that island was the one they had just fought on.
A place so damaged from absorbing countless attacks that there wasn’t a single intact spot left.
It had been hit particularly hard by black magic recently, looking even worse than he remembered.
Thanks to the mist earlier, the trees had rotted and withered entirely.
“Ugh…”
He was so tired that even just sitting down made his eyes close involuntarily.
In his mind, he knew he should return to the O’Neill Kingdom and sleep at the inn there, but his body wouldn’t cooperate.
‘Forget it. I don’t care anymore.’
In the end, he gave up.
After all, he had saved Elaine, and Ordin would take care of the First Elder.
He’d already confirmed that the First Elder was completely unconscious.
In his current state, he had no willpower to change clothes, teleport unnoticed back to the O’Neill Kingdom, and sneak into the inn.
‘If only he hadn’t resisted so much, this wouldn’t have been so tiring…’
Honestly, he hadn’t expected the First Elder to resist so fiercely in such a hopeless situation.
As various thoughts swirled in his mind, he could no longer fight against the overwhelming fatigue.
It had been ages since his eyelids felt this heavy.
‘I’ll just close my eyes for a bit before I go.’
As soon as he let go of his worries, his eyes closed completely.
