The Demonic Prince of the Wi Clan Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Wi Yeon-cheon himself could not help but be puzzled by the flames that ignited from his sword.

After all, the Sammae True Flame was a technique that could only be used by those who had mastered fire arts.

“Sammae True Flame…”

For several days, Wi Yeon-cheon’s mind was filled with thoughts of the flames that had ignited at the tip of his sword.

Especially the movement of the Yin-Yang Radiance that he witnessed when the Sammae True Flame flared up—it was unforgettable.

“Although it contains both yin and yang, to be able to manipulate the yang energy alone to create the Sammae True Flame…”

The mere fact that he could now produce the Sammae True Flame was reason enough to rejoice.

Yet Wi Yeon-cheon couldn’t simply celebrate.

It was because, even though the flames arose from his own hands, he had not fully comprehended them.

Unable to overlook a martial skill he did not completely grasp, Wi Yeon-cheon spent his days in what was nearly a closed-door training.

“It’s already been four days.”

For four days, he had moved back and forth between his room and the training yard, not even eating his meals on time.

His father, Wi Jin-gyeol, spent those days filled with worry, but Wi Yeon-cheon had no time to concern himself with such matters.

“I must not forget this insight.”

For four days, he revisited the flow of energy he had seen in the Yin-Yang Radiance, pursuing enlightenment.

It was only after thousands of repetitions over those four days that a realization finally came to him.

Wi Yeon-cheon could not afford to let go of that realization.

“The energy of yin and yang that had scattered throughout my body gathered as one in an instant.”

The energy hidden throughout his body converged around the Yin-Yang Radiance, not at his dantian but throughout his entire being.

Though he still did not fully understand it, he could sense a faint clarity.

“Phew…”

He sat cross-legged, focusing his energy, and for half a day, he examined his entire body.

Though his back was starting to ache, to Wi Yeon-cheon, who took joy in the martial arts, it was a minor discomfort.

He continued to ponder the insights he had gained through countless repetitions over the past four days.

On the night of the fifth day, after immersing himself in martial arts without regard for day or night, a familiar sensation arose from his upper dantian.

It was the same feeling he had when he first heard that mysterious voice.

But this time, there was no eerie voice that chilled him to the core.

Instead, the Yin-Yang Radiance hidden throughout his body began to stir, moving through him.

‘C-can you hear me?’

Despite his fear, Wi Yeon-cheon spoke within his mind, addressing the sensation he had both feared and longed for.

But there was no reply to his question.

‘So, there’s no answer…’

The Yin-Yang Radiance moved throughout his body without a word, then paused near his dantian.

It was the first time this had happened, and as Wi Yeon-cheon found it odd, he realized what the Yin-Yang Radiance intended to do.

“Haha…”

Despite focusing entirely on his breathing exercises, a hollow laugh escaped him.

“Is this your answer?”

The Yin-Yang Radiance, which had paused near his dantian, began to move again, just as it had when it first ignited the Sammae True Flame at the tip of his sword.

It was the same movement, but this time, the speed was vastly different from that night.

It seemed as if it was teaching Wi Yeon-cheon, who had been wandering aimlessly for four days.

‘Thank you for your guidance.’

Wi Yeon-cheon expressed his gratitude to the Yin-Yang Radiance as if it had a mind of its own, then focused once again on the flow of energy.

From the faint insight he had grasped, he began to explore the essence of the Sammae True Flame.

The Yin-Yang Radiance, which possessed both yin and yang energy, gradually gathered at a single point and released yang energy.

It spread its energy as gracefully as an artist splashing ink onto paper.

When the Yin-Yang Radiance reached the Yang Palm, he slowly opened his eyes and extended his arm.

Sitting cross-legged, he stretched his arm in the Yang Palm posture.

Soon after, a small flame appeared from the Yang Palm.

“This time, I’ve engraved it for sure.”

The moment Wi Yeon-cheon finished speaking, the flame flickered and disappeared as if it had understood him.

With that, the Yin-Yang Radiance once again dispersed throughout his body.

“Is this what it wanted to show me…?”

Wi Yeon-cheon gently touched the area near his dantian, recalling the paths the Yin-Yang Radiance had travelled.

These were the paths he had always followed during his breathing exercises.

But the movements of the Yin-Yang Radiance were different from the way he had previously practiced the Yin-Yang Divine Art.

With the movements now imprinted in his memory, Wi Yeon-cheon directed a small flow of energy into his pathways.

He balanced yin and yang energy, using yang to mark the key point.

As he managed to synchronize with the Yin-Yang Radiance, he was able to manifest a small flame in his Right Palm.

“I finally did it.”

The Sammae True Flame, which he had strived to achieve over the past five days, finally emerged.

But despite this success, he still felt something was missing.

“It feels like there’s still something more…”

As he gazed at the spot where the flame had appeared, Wi Yeon-cheon shifted his gaze to his Left Palm.

After staring at his left hand for a while, he slowly closed his eyes and began circulating his energy once more.

It was the same movement as when he had produced the Sammae True Flame.

But there was one fundamental difference.

‘Yin energy.’

He had used yang energy to create the flame.

‘If I use yin energy instead…’

Wi Yeon-cheon was certain.

If he could produce flames with yang energy, then he could create snowflakes with yin energy.

With that conviction, he completed the circulation and extended his left hand while slowly opening his eyes.

“As I thought.”

A cold chill emanated from his left hand.

The chill spread, gradually turning his left hand white.

Having trained in the Sammae True Flame and the Ice White Palm, Wi Yeon-cheon collapsed on the spot and slept through an entire day.

As a result, a wave of concern swept through the entire Wi Family.

“I apologize for causing you all to worry.”

“No, it’s fine. It’s not uncommon for someone to fall into a deep sleep when pushing their martial training.”

Wi Jin-gyeol forced a smile toward his son, but Wi Yeon-cheon could see the shadows under his father’s eyes.

It was clear that his father had not been sleeping well out of concern for him.

Wi Yeon-cheon tried to return his father’s smile with one of his own as he replied.

“By the way, Father, I’ve made some progress.”

“That’s good to hear. What did you achieve this time?”

Wi Yeon-cheon slowly approached Wi Jin-gyeol and gently took hold of the teacup placed in front of him.

Wi Jin-gyeol tilted his head in curiosity but soon found himself shocked by what he witnessed.

The steam rising from the warm tea in the cup held by Wi Yeon-cheon gradually disappeared, and the tea began to freeze over with a white frost.

Staring at his son with wide eyes, he was at a loss for words.

“W-what is this?”

“It’s the Ice White Palm.”

Hearing his son’s answer, spoken with a gentle smile, Wi Jin-gyeol let out a surprised laugh.

“Haha… A few days ago, you showed me the Sammae True Flame, and now it’s the Ice White Palm.”

He took the teacup, now frozen by his son’s hand, and asked.

“Is this also a result of your progress in the Yin-Yang Divine Art?”

“Yes, that’s correct.”

“I see.”

Wi Jin-gyeol was proud that his son had made such rapid progress, mastering both the Sammae True Flame and the Ice White Palm.

But he couldn’t help but worry about the speed of his son’s accomplishments in the Yin-Yang Divine Art.

Fast progress in demonic arts often carried the risk of Qi Deviation or being consumed by demonic or maddening energy.

“Don’t push yourself too hard.”

“I always keep that in mind.”

Wi Jin-gyeol’s concerns were understandable, but at times, Wi Yeon-cheon couldn’t fully grasp his father’s worries.

After all, Wi Yeon-cheon had never rushed toward progress recklessly.

“It’s late tonight, so go and rest. You might not be feeling well after all that exertion.”

“Yes, Father.”

After paying his respects to his father, Wi Yeon-cheon left and headed straight for the training yard.

To him, lying in bed all day after achieving a breakthrough felt like a tremendous loss.

He was eager to master the Sammae True Flame and the Ice White Palm and refine them further.

With that determination, he made his way to the moonlit training yard.

Looking up at the night sky, he focused his sight, observing the faint currents of energy flowing through the moonlight.

Having reached the third level of the Yin-Yang Divine Art, his vision now revealed the natural energy around him.

“It’s truly fascinating.”

Wi Yeon-cheon had been able to see the flow of people’s energy and qi from the moment he was born.

His perspective was different from others.

Because of that, he had always lived in a world unlike that of others.

But after reaching this level, he could now see yet another new world with his eyes.

He moved his Yang Palm freely, aiming toward the natural energy filling the training yard under the moonlight.

It wasn’t a refined technique but rather a spontaneous movement.

As if trying to grasp the natural qi, he guided the Yang Palm while infusing it with a touch of yin energy.

A faint white chill began to emerge.

Wi Yeon-cheon continued to move his Yang Palm in the moonlight, creating a brief series of movements.

It resembled the footwork of the The Profound and Subtle Sword Technique but held a completely different essence.

His hands moved fluidly, as if trying to seize the natural energy around him, creating a short series of movements.

To Wi Yeon-cheon, it was merely an attempt to become more accustomed to the Ice White Palm.

But his movements formed a rudimentary martial form.

It was a brief martial art that no one else could have imagined, a form that would remain unknown and unrecorded.

“It still feels awkward.”

Dissatisfied with the rudimentary form he had created, Wi Yeon-cheon withdrew the Ice White Palm and looked down at the ground beneath his feet.

“It’s definitely awkward.”

He didn’t like how the footwork resembled that of the The Profound and Subtle Sword Technique, even though it was supposed to complement the Ice White Palm.

“I need to study more martial arts.”

Unsatisfied with himself, he erased the memory of the footwork and prepared to manifest the Sammae True Flame.

Unlike the Ice White Palm, the Sammae True Flame required him to draw his sword.

Just as he unsheathed his blade, he sensed a foreign presence and an unfamiliar energy.

‘A skilled warrior.’

The energy had been suppressed, and their presence concealed so well that he couldn’t even guess the number of people.

‘So, they’re still hiding, huh.’

Judging by how well they suppressed their presence, they seemed like trained assassins.

The unfamiliar energy gradually spread out.

In response, Wi Yeon-cheon also suppressed his energy as he began to search for the assassins.

‘I don’t know who their target might be.’

Wi Yeon-cheon climbed atop a pavilion, focusing all his senses on detecting the assassins’ presence throughout the Wi Family estate.

After a long while of scanning the entire estate, he spotted a figure dressed in black.

‘There!’

As soon as he spotted the black-clad figure, he drew his sword and used light footwork, flying toward his target.

He surged toward the figure with the The Profound and Subtle Sword Technique, catching the black-clad figure off guard, who hastily blocked his attack.

“Who are you?”

Wi Yeon-cheon didn’t expect an answer, so he swung his sword at the black-clad figure again.

The assassin seemed to be familiar with the The Profound and Subtle Sword Technique, as they anticipated the flow of his strikes.

But Wi Yeon-cheon adjusted his technique, letting his sword flow in an unexpected direction, moving like a whip.

The change in movement allowed him to strike the assassin’s side.

“Urgh!”

Just as he prepared to pull back his sword, the assassin, despite bleeding heavily, gripped the blade with both hands and refused to let go.

“No way…!”

Even while dying from the wound, the assassin’s eyes remained locked on his target.

Wi Yeon-cheon quickly abandoned his sword and retreated, only to find three more black-clad figures emerging around him.

They had suppressed their energy so effectively that even with four of them present, he couldn’t guess how many more might be hiding.

As more assassins appeared elsewhere, lights began to turn on one by one in various parts of the estate.

It seemed there were far more assassins hidden within the Wi Family grounds than he had expected.

“How troublesome.”

The three remaining assassins simultaneously drew their blades and charged at Wi Yeon-cheon.

Without his sword, Wi Yeon-cheon moved nimbly, evading their attacks using his footwork.

‘Focus.’

The assassins seemed to know the The Profound and Subtle Sword Technique, forcing Wi Yeon-cheon to use a different approach.

This demanded even more concentration.

To defeat these opponents, he couldn’t afford any mistakes while using the Sammae True Flame or the Ice White Palm.
