The Military Veteran Elementary School Girl’s Journey to the Throne Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Princess Muriela stared blankly at the window.

The Solineum Royal Palace was situated on a hill, built on an elevated terrain, so if she were to step out from her room on the outer edge, she would fall straight down.

Moreover, an elegantly designed safety device was installed on the window to prevent such foolish accidents, making it impossible for her to go out even if she wanted to.

‘What to do?’

Not going out was not an option. Was she being cowardly? But how could the man among men, Solinor, endure this? However, if she forcibly removed the safety device, wouldn’t Bianca rush in after hearing the noise?

‘Ugh, I don’t know.’

Solinor gave up his pondering and approached the window.

‘When did I ever have such a good head on my shoulders?’

Without an advisor, Solinor was merely a simple musclehead.

That’s why he was currently trying to gather talented individuals.

In this world, there was nothing that could not be accomplished with strength! That was Solinor’s belief.

If something couldn’t be done, it simply meant more strength was needed.

With Muriela’s overwhelming physical strength, capable of doing at least one push-up, this safety device should be a piece of cake.

Confidence was something Solinor had in abundance, in both his previous life and this one.

“Ha!”

With a cute battle cry, Princess Muriela clung to the safety device.

As expected, after struggling for a while, she found it completely unyielding.

If the safety device could be moved by the strength of a child, it wouldn’t even pass safety standards and would never have been sold in the first place.

“Hah… Hah…”

Not long after, Muriela was drenched in sweat and glanced back at the entrance of her room. Fortunately, it seemed Bianca hadn’t noticed anything.

‘Where can I find more strength?’

It was something she felt while practicing swordsmanship with Kaelen; although she had surprised him at first with her knowledge from her past life, Muriela didn’t possess any particular physical talent.

She wasn’t the type of person who easily built muscle and didn’t have quick reflexes either.

If her body lacked strength, what could she draw upon?

The power of belief! The strength of desire!

The reason those phrases sound similar is that they are indeed similar. Fun and cool, right?

Open, sesame!

Princess Muriela strongly wished in her heart and pushed against the safety device once more.

To all the children watching, do not try this at home. You will become a foolish princess like the one you see here.

Bang!

Startled by the unexpected noise, Muriela hadn’t even had time to assess the situation before the window, along with the safety device, was yanked off and fell out.

Her small body flew out the window due to inertia—

In such a sudden turn of events, rather than swearing, Princess Muriela found herself speechless.

Would she become the first princess in the history of Silbrenoa to fall to her death from a window?

But, contrary to the misfortune of the unfortunate window and safety device, which fell onto the leaves below with a thud and disappeared from sight, the princess was floating outside the window.

“Uh? Uh?”

As her curiosity erupted into words, a voice responded from somewhere.

“That’s quite a noisy exit for you.”

“Wh-Who?”

Looking in the direction of the voice, someone was peering down from the roof.

A very handsome young man with brown hair.

“Who else would it be? Did you not recognize me after seeing me yesterday? What a pity.”

“The bard from yesterday?”

“Well, that’s partly correct. Now, come on up here.”

He took Princess Muriela’s hand and pulled her up onto the roof. Solinor quickly scrutinized his appearance.

Was he a dangerous person?

He wore a robe typical of wizards, but he had just called himself a bard, hadn’t he?

“Who are you? Do you know me?”

“Of course I do. We’ve been together for decades; how could I not know?”

Decades? Muriela was only eight years old!

“Isn’t that right? Solinor.”

***

“What? Reincarnation?”

“From the looks of it, you’ve gone through something similar, haven’t you? Why? Don’t you believe it?”

“Ah, no. Of course I do.”

If it weren’t for that, there would be no way to explain the current situation.

According to the young man in front of her, he was none other than the reincarnation of Solinor’s friend and the greatest magician, Sylvius Peregrine.

“Well, I was also incredibly shocked at first. I was sure I had died, but the next moment, I opened my eyes, and I was a newborn baby.”

“I woke up recently, and I was in the body of my granddaughter. Unlike you, who started as an infant, Muriela was already seven years old.”

“That is quite curious. It does explain why I only sensed your soul last month, though.”

Did Sylvius have the ability to sense souls?

“You sensed a soul? How?”

“In my later years, I researched magic involving souls. Although I thought I had lived long enough and was satisfied, I felt a bit fearful when it came time to die.”

“Well, death is naturally frightening to everyone. It’s not strange.”

“But compared to how you departed so freely at the age of just forty, I felt like such a coward. Isn’t that so?”

“Well, it differs from person to person. You’re you, and I’m me.”

“Thank you for saying that. Regardless, when it comes to capacity, I could never match you. I’ve always thought that way.”

I always envied Sylvius and our other companions. Solinor still didn’t understand why they followed him so loyally.

“No, that’s not true at all. I always envied your sharp mind. I was just strong but dim-witted, and without my comrades, I couldn’t accomplish anything.”

“That is what makes you who you are. What do you think allowed you to become king despite your flaws?”

“I’m not sure. Even I think there was no one as lacking as me.”

“That’s exactly why. You were aware of your shortcomings and never hesitated to seek help from others. And once you made a decision, you took full responsibility for it. That’s why everyone had no choice but to follow you.”

‘Isn’t that something anyone could do? It’s what should be done, after all.’

Sylvius paused to catch his breath before continuing.

“Anyway, to continue what I was saying. While studying soul magic, I discovered that it was possible to preserve the soul of the deceased.”

“What? Don’t tell me…”

“Yes, exactly what you’re thinking. Of course, I couldn’t be sure, so I couldn’t test it on anyone else. But just before I died, I sealed my soul in the purest mana stone.”

“And what happened then?”

“I didn’t know what to expect since it was my first attempt. But when I opened my eyes, I was in a baby’s body. Later on, I found out how it happened. My new mother wore a necklace made from that mana stone around her neck.”

Even Solinor, who knew nothing about soul magic, could easily guess the next part now that he knew the outcome.

When that woman gave birth, Sylvius’ soul, sealed within the mana stone, must have transferred to the baby’s body.

Yet, one question remained. Solinor asked without hesitation.

“Where did you place that mana stone at the end?”

“Of course, I left it in the Royal Magic Research Lab. I died there on purpose when no one was around.”

My friend is truly eccentric. Solinor chuckled internally.

“The Royal Magic Research Lab… How did the mana stone end up as a necklace?”

“It’s simple. The officials cleaning the lab must have sold it off, thinking it was valuable. My current mother, who was a wealthy merchant’s wife, bought it and wore it around her neck. You might not know this, but Silbrenoa now is full of thieves. Everyone considers embezzling public funds normal.”

“Not exactly, but I did have some idea. I requested budget reports and execution summaries from my history teacher and read them. Even with my limited understanding, the numbers didn’t add up at all.”

“Incredible, even in that body, you don’t hesitate to act. You’re remarkable as always.”

“Haha. By the way, how old is that body of yours? You look young, but your speech sounds like that of an old man, which feels odd.”

“I’m not yet twenty-five. And speaking of awkward speech, you’re the same. Hahaha. But I don’t usually talk this way. It just comes out naturally when I see you. I didn’t expect it either.”

While laughing face-to-face with his old friend, Solinor suddenly remembered a question and asked quickly.

“Ah, I wanted to ask you something. Do you know how I managed to open my window earlier and why I didn’t fall to the ground? Did you do that?”

“No, I didn’t do anything. But I knew it would happen.”

Did Sylvius know what had just happened?

“You have the talent of a spirit mage.”

“What?”
