Chapter 28
March 7th, Year 761 of the Continental Calendar
‘Hey, Muriela—I mean, Muriela. I just saw a real crazy princess.’
“Come on, stop nagging me. I told you, I’ll come up with something to tell Aiorin soon. Just give me a little more time.”
‘No, that’s not what I mean. I was walking in the garden and saw an actual crazy princess.’
“A real crazy princess?”
‘Yeah, someone way worse than you.’
What?! How could anyone be worse than our super-genius, multi-talented Muriela? No way! Muriela is the best at everything! Wait… but being crazy isn’t a good thing, is it?
Solinor briefly entertained a ridiculous thought before shaking it off.
“How crazy are we talking?”
‘She sat on the ground sobbing, then started screaming and pulling her hair.’
“Wow, that does sound crazy.”
Then a thought struck him.
“Wait, how do you know she’s a princess? Or that I’m one, for that matter?”
‘Oh, the kids in this garden who smell like Aiorin are all called princes or princesses.’
“Smell?”
‘Yeah. You, too.’
It made sense.
The current princes and princesses were all Aiorin and Solinor’s grandchildren.
But who could that crazy princess be? Could it be…
“What’s her name, this crazy one?”
‘I think it’s Katrina. Someone dressed like your friends calmed her down and escorted her inside.’
So, it was her after all. My poor granddaughter’s mental state is in shambles. What on earth is my son doing? I need to do something about this.
I’ll need to meet Katrina soon and assess her condition.
Wait, who’s this “friend” that took her?
“My friends?”
Talking with spirits often requires constant clarification of terms.
‘Yeah, your friends. There’s one outside your door right now. Green—’
Who on earth could they mean?
BANG!
Unable to contain her curiosity, Muriela dashed to the door and threw it open. She found Florina, crouched with a strange device pressed to the door, who fell backward with a loud crash.
“Ah!”
Muriela was startled, but Florina was even more so.
“Y-your Highness?”
Florina panicked, worried she’d been caught eavesdropping.
Ah, so to Wendy, the maids seem like my “friends.” Makes sense, given they’re always around me.
Solinor, meanwhile, had already shifted to a new train of thought.
“Um, is there something you need, Your Highness? Anything urgent?”
“Nope. Just saying hi, green friend. Hehe.”
Muriela, finding the word “friend” amusing, felt pleased with her joke and closed the door. She climbed back onto her bed, leaving Florina in utter confusion.
Florina, once again thrown into chaos, found one small comfort—Muriela’s antics provided plenty of material for her reports.
Whatever the princess did, Florina just chalked it up to her madness. As strange as it was in the moment, she mostly felt pity for the young girl.
That made her job, disguised as a maid, relatively stress-free.
Her real issue lately was Corbin. He seemed to be ignoring her reports.
Why? I specifically wrote that the princess needs to be isolated for treatment. Does he think there’s not enough evidence?
Come on, Corbin! She’s not just a mischievous princess! This delicate flower of a princess is falling apart, and you need more proof?
Sigh. I’m the only one in the intelligence division actually doing my job. Everyone else just writes reports tailored to please Corbin and rake in better evaluations.
Her respect for Corbin had now officially dropped to “grumpy old man.”
Florina resolved to continue her thorough investigations and save Princess Muriela from everyone’s neglect.

Meanwhile, near the Fey Forest, in a small human settlement
Inside a tiny log cabin at the edge of the village, lively chatter accompanied a hearty meal.
“So, you see, my mom didn’t just lock me up—she’d smack me on the head with a frying pan!”
“Oh dear, what kind of parent would do that to such a pretty lady?”
“She must be a strict woman. Keeping such a lively young lady cooped up at home—what a shame!”
Gulping down a glass of beer for the first time in decades, a stunning blonde elf vented all her frustrations about her mother.
It was Aiorin.
She was on her second escape attempt.
“Well, even so, I had something I absolutely had to do. So, I never gave up! I got past all her strict surveillance and made it out here!”
“Oho, so what’s this grand mission you’ve come out for?”
“Come on, lady, isn’t it obvious? A young woman at her prime leaving home? There’s only one reason.”
The middle-aged woman winked mischievously.
“Yeah, are you out here to meet a man?”
“That’s right. You could say that.”
“See? Told you I was right. You can’t fool these eyes!”
The woman beamed triumphantly.
“My husband swore he’d only ever love me, and now he’s fooling around with another woman! Even after we had a cute son together! I’m on my way to catch him right now!”
What? Husband? Affair?
The conversation was suddenly taking a strange turn.
The middle-aged couple who owned the log cabin were taken aback at the thought of someone who looked so young already having a son.
But then again, early marriages weren’t unheard of; some married as young as fourteen or fifteen.
“Oh, so where are you headed, then?”
“Does your husband live around here?”
Was there really someone so shameless in their village? Cheating on a wife as young and beautiful as this?
“No, he’s not from here. I’m heading to the palace in Solineum. My husband and his mistress both live there.”
“Huh?”
The couple exchanged nervous glances.
This sounded like a massive scandal.
But who could she be talking about? The only people in the palace were the royal family, their staff, and the royal guards.
“I’ll never forgive my husband for betraying not only me but also the bonds of morality and nature itself!”
Aiorin ground her teeth as she cursed her husband.
“Who… who exactly are you talking about?”
“Yeah, who is it? Someone important?”
“My husband was the king. And he’s having an affair with a girl young enough to be his granddaughter—his own bloodline, no less! How could I stand for this?”
Wait, her husband is the king? The king—Eldric?
Aiorin specifically said her husband “was” the king, but to the couple, “king” could only mean Eldric.
He had been on the throne since they were old enough to care about such things.
And Aiorin looked far too young to be married to anyone else.
So, does that mean this woman is one of the queens?
Of course, they considered the possibility that she was an imposter, but in times as chaotic as these, who could say for sure?
Besides, if she was telling the truth, defying her could spell disaster.
But wait—wasn’t it fine for the king to have multiple wives? How is that an affair…?
But now wasn’t the time to think about such things. Survival came first.
“We greet Your Majesty, the Queen!”
“We beg your forgiveness for our ignorance!”
The couple prostrated themselves on the floor in sudden realization, but Aiorin was simply confused.
“Why are you doing this all of a sudden? And how did you know I was a queen?”
See? She really is a queen.
The couple, having already decided she was a jealous queen, trembled as they pressed their faces further into the floor, ignoring Aiorin’s attempts to lift them up.
Based on their experience, jealous women were never kind.
It was all an act.
Though uncomfortable, the couple somehow finished their meal. Aiorin bid them farewell and continued her journey to the palace.
A Short While Later
When the couple heard the announcement that Eldric had taken a sixteen-year-old girl as his sixth queen, they nodded knowingly.
“We were right. Good thing we handled that well and saved our necks.”
Of course, they were completely wrong.
Meanwhile, in Aiorin’s home in the Fey Forest
An elven man knelt on the floor, facing Aiorin’s furious mother.
“So, you just let her go?”
“…”
“Come on, I won’t get mad. Just tell me—why did you do it?”
“She was crying so pitifully, and she’s been reflecting long enough…”
“Oh, my dear husband, how could you be so soft on our daughter? You know how sly she can be.”
Without their troublemaking daughter, Aiorin’s mother’s tone grew gentle, even sweet.
In truth, her sharp tongue likely developed because of Aiorin’s constant antics.
“Well, what’s done is done. Since you let her go, there’s no point chasing her. Let’s just wait and see. It’s not like she’ll stay gone for decades again, right? Haha! No kids around—maybe we can enjoy some time together.”
And so, in the Fey Forest, a new sibling project began.
