Chapter 4
Continental Year 761, January 8th (Friday).
It had been four days since Solinor had taken over Princess Muriela’s body.
During that time, he had devoted himself to exercising Muriela’s body and creating healthier eating habits.
If there were a term to describe Solinor now, it would be something like a “ghost trainer.”
He walked through the garden, repeatedly lifted small stones, and made every effort to create a healthier body.
The meal portions were gradually increased, and he instructed the chef to use more varied and healthier ingredients.
Of course, he also emphasized not using too much fatty food—his experience with the beef on the first day had taught him a lesson.
Muriela’s body was so weak that both exercise and eating were quite challenging.
But what wouldn’t a grandfather do for his beloved granddaughter?
After all, they say a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.
And since Solinor had a healthy mind, the body had to be healthy too.
It may have been the wrong order of things, but who cares?
He also became more acquainted with Princess Muriela’s attendants, though there were only three in total.
There was Bianca, who was always by her side, the chef whom he rarely interacted with, and the gardener.
He met the gardener during one of his walks, an elderly Floresca woman.
The Floresca were a unique race with plant-like vines attached to their bodies.
They had the ability to sing and communicate with plants, making them perfect gardeners.
Solinor had seen them a few times during his adventuring days.
On the day the gardener saw Muriela walking in the garden, she wept, just like the other attendants.
Solinor still didn’t fully understand why everyone kept crying but decided to get used to it.
‘Ah, I guess people just cry when they see me.’
In reality, they were simply moved by the princess’s sudden transformation.
The gardener sang for Muriela every day as she exercised in the garden.
Bianca now cleaned with a beaming smile on her face.
The chef always brought meals with a bright expression.
Solinor felt quietly pleased.
‘I think I’m getting closer to the attendants. Maybe one day, we’ll even eat together?’
Of course, in present-day Silbrenoa, such a thing was an impossible dream.
It had long been established that the servants ate before the princess’s meals, as part of their fixed routine.
Unaware of these customs, Solinor viewed it as a “relationship-building” issue and continued his efforts to bond with them.
Princess Muriela smiled at Bianca nearby.
Bianca smiled warmly back at her.
‘Nice. Affection +1. This is progress.’
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Solinor, though a bit impatient, was still a man of great capacity.
‘Relationships take time to build. That’s the way.’
“Bianca, hold my legs so I can do sit-ups.”
By now, Solinor had settled on a speech style that suited Muriela.
At first, he wasn’t sure how to speak, but the answer was simple.
He used the tone he had as a child when talking to his friends.
Everyone accepted it naturally.
“Princess, don’t overdo it. You might get hurt.”
“I can handle this much.”
She couldn’t.
***
After finishing her morning workout, Princess Muriela took a shower.
In the bathroom was a curious machine that Solinor had never seen before.
A device that produced warm water at the push of a button.
It seemed that this “shower” was a development after Solinor’s time.
Ever since the discovery of the mana stone mines in his third year of reign, Silbrenoa had seen a surge in magical devices.
The country no longer needed to import expensive mana stones to power magical tools.
It was a great blessing for the fledgling nation of Silbrenoa.
Sylvius had been ecstatic, creating various magical tools.
Soon, Silbrenoa had more magical devices than any other country, and their prices were significantly lower.
Technological advancement was truly a blessing.
Thanks to the shower, Muriela could clean herself quickly.
In the past, it took forever to fill the bathtub with warm water.
On the first day, Bianca had followed her into the bathroom, ready to help her bathe as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
‘I’m not a child; there’s no need for that.’
That was Solinor’s response. Though, technically, Muriela was still a child.
After drying herself with a bath towel and stepping out of the bathroom, Bianca was waiting.
“Prince Kasper has requested to have breakfast with you.”
‘Kasper?’
Solinor quickly searched through Muriela’s memories.
What emerged was the image of a child smiling brightly, like the midsummer sun.
Even with a generous estimate, the child seemed to be around five years old.
Muriela’s relationships were very limited in her memories.
Kasper appeared quite often, and most of those memories were painted in bright colors.
‘It seems like Kasper is close to Muriela.’
Since he was referred to as a prince, this child was undoubtedly one of Solinor’s grandchildren.
There was no reason not to meet a beloved grandchild.
Solinor quickly responded.
“Tell him it’s fine.”
“Yes, Princess.”
‘Now that I think about it, we’re having a meal together. What kind of food does my grandchild like?’
His grandchild’s meal was important, of course.
“What does Kasper like to eat? What would be a good menu?”
“Prince Kasper enjoys fruit and honey-glazed nuts for breakfast.”
“Really? Then let’s go with that.”
“Would you like something special as well, Princess? I can inform the chef.”
That wasn’t necessary.
The current chef was already making healthy meals on his own.
“I’m fine. Tell the chef to do as he sees fit.”
“Yes, Princess.”
Having said that, Solinor rested in bed for a while. Then Bianca returned.
“Princess Adeline will be joining you as well.”
‘Adeline?’
When he searched through Muriela’s memories again, Adeline was her older sister.
Adeline appeared often in Muriela’s memories, usually alongside Kasper.
‘Now that I think about it, there was another child. That one’s name is Kaelen, right? Hmm, will he be coming too?’
Fortunately, it seemed like there were other grandchildren who thought well of Muriela.
“Alright. Order something Adeline would like too.”
“Yes, Princess.”
After her morning workout, Princess Muriela felt quite tired.
She fell asleep almost immediately after closing her eyes.
Later, Bianca returned to wake her for breakfast and smiled at the sight of the princess sleeping cutely before escorting her to the dining room.
“Haaahm…”
Still rubbing her sleepy eyes with her sleeves, Princess Muriela entered the dining room, finishing with an adorable yawn.
Prince Kasper and Princess Adeline, who had already arrived, stared at her with wide eyes like rabbits.
They were shocked by the lifelike actions of Muriela, who always seemed like a lifeless doll.
Solinor took a moment to carefully examine the faces of his grandchild and granddaughter for the first time.
Their eyes were full of life, with small noses and mouths that still looked like toys.
The chubby face of Prince Kasper, full of baby fat, charmed Solinor immediately.
Adeline, who had features as cute as Kasper’s, had the distinguishing feature with longer hair, being a girl.
Both of them had light blonde hair and deep blue eyes, just like the reflection of Muriela in the mirror.
It seemed the influence of Solinor’s bloodline was strong.
Seeing his adorable grandchildren, Solinor sat down with a big smile on his face.
Seeing this, Kasper and Adeline relaxed their surprised expressions and greeted him.
“Hi, Mew-nuna!”
“Muriela, did you sleep well? You look a bit different today.”
‘Hmm, I suppose I can just use modern speech patterns, right?’
“Good morning. What’s different about me?”
At this, both of his grandchildren looked even more surprised.
‘How on earth did she live for even her closest siblings to react this way?’
“Well, I’m not sure. You just seem healthier and more cheerful than usual. What do you think, Kasper?”
“Yeah! I like this Mew-nuna better! You’re talking more, too!”
‘Well, that’s good. It seems like I haven’t worsened Muriela’s relationships since I took over her body. When the time comes to return it, there shouldn’t be any issues.’
The problem was that he didn’t know how to return it.
Now that he looked around, there were some unfamiliar people in the dining room.
Logically, they were probably the attendants Kasper and Adeline had brought with them.
“Why aren’t they eating with us?”
“Hmm? Who?”
“Are you talking about the maids?”
‘Hmm, has the kingdom’s dining etiquette changed since I died? Well, Bianca also refused to sit at an empty seat. Is this the norm now?’
“Oh, no. Never mind, then.”
Solinor hastily brushed off the topic.
At that moment, his adorable grandson launched a surprise attack.
“Mew-nuna, do you remember what I said last time?”
Muriela’s eyes blinked rapidly.
Of course, Solinor had no idea what Kasper was talking about.
Even as he hurriedly searched through Muriela’s memories, nothing came up.
To think that he couldn’t answer a question from his incredibly cute grandson!
As Solinor hesitated, Kasper pouted in frustration.
‘Uh-oh!’
“What? You don’t remember again? Fine, forget it.”
Though his heart no longer beat, Solinor still felt a sharp pang in his chest.
Just then, Adeline stepped in to save him.
“Don’t be too hard on Muriela. The fact that she’s even talking properly like this is amazing.”
Was that really so amazing?
‘Dear granddaughter, this is the first time I’ve met you, but aren’t you being a bit too harsh on your sister?’
In truth, Adeline was deeply moved.
The fact that Muriela was continuing a conversation beyond single words was a shocking development.
“You said two days from now is Mom’s birthday, right? You invited Mew-nuna to the party, but she didn’t answer before.”
“Oh? That’s what it was? Of course, I’ll go.”
“Kasper, aren’t you happy you finally got an answer from Muriela herself this time? Mom will be pleased.”
“Yeah! I’m happy! Aren’t you happy too, Del-nuna?”
Overwhelmed by emotion, Adeline closed her eyes, clasping her hands beneath her chin as her voice softened with tears.
“Kasper insisted on coming, so I followed late, but I’m so glad I came. Seeing Muriela looking so healthy… It’s wonderful.”
At that moment, a question arose in Solinor’s mind.
‘Our mother? Now that I think about it, where is Muriela’s mother?’
No matter how hard he searched through her memories, there was no sign of a woman who could be her mother.
Asking about her whereabouts would definitely raise suspicion.
‘Sigh. First my wife disappears, and now where’s my daughter-in-law?’
As Solinor pondered this, the chef arrived with their meal.
Muriela’s portion consisted of honeyed bread and a fruit salad.
It was the first time Solinor had experienced such a lively meal in Muriela’s body.
Watching Kasper, Adeline, and Muriela munch away with their small mouths was incredibly endearing.
Solinor had to imagine Muriela’s expressions since he couldn’t see her face.
‘To see my grandchildren growing up so beautifully fills this grandpa with joy.’
Solinor almost ascended to heaven, overwhelmed by the sheer cuteness radiating from his three grandchildren.
