The Military Veteran Elementary School Girl’s Journey to the Throne Chapter 83

Chapter 83

A cheerful Saturday. Princess Muriela was enjoying her holiday in her chambers.

A day without a fixed schedule was always exciting.

Even though it still consisted of a balanced breakfast after morning exercise, followed by pestering Hamilton into training.

True to her upright-lifestyle-child persona, Muriela insisted on keeping a disciplined routine—even on holidays.

Bianca was also scheduled to return this evening, so her daily rhythm was returning to its usual pace.

“ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!”

Her loud shouts echoed through the bedroom. It was time for morning exercise.

Light stretching at dawn, and after breakfast came serious strength training.

Having completed lunges and squats, she moved on to push-ups, following Solinor’s regimen.

After successfully doing one proper push-up a while ago, she was brimming with confidence.

“Today I’ll definitely do two!”

With perfect form, arms at the proper width, and stable breathing, she descended slowly.

As she pushed upward from the floor, the whole world seemed to rise with her.

“One! T-Two—nngh—push!”

After a clean first rep, she fought desperately through the second.

Beads of sweat formed on her forehead, but she succeeded.

Lying flat on the floor and panting heavily, her face was full of satisfaction.

“Phew… Phew… That was amazing!”

Now all that remained was a shower, then a meal, and after a bit of rest, swordsmanship training.

Buoyed by the pride of completing two push-ups, she was ready to hound Hamilton with her sword.

It was a ridiculous thought—but dreaming is free. Who could stop her?

“Alrighty… Time to shower.”

Princess Muriela stepped into the shower with her sweat-drenched body, but her steps were light.

Humming to herself, she washed thoroughly and emerged in a fresh outfit.

Other young royals usually had assistance during bath time, but Muriela was the exception.

She was also allowed to spend most of her time alone.

By standard palace protocols, this would be problematic—but within their circle, it was a silently agreed-upon rule.

“Hmmm… What’s on the lunch menu today?”

Muriela licked her lips, already looking forward to the chef’s cooking.

After sweating so much from exercise, she was already hungry again.

And mealtime wasn’t just about the food anymore.

After their last shared meal, she had requested the attendants eat with her too.

Thus, her chambers had accumulated a number of new “rules” unique to the palace.

All of them created through the strong will of an eight-year-old Princess Muriela.

Of course, this was all made possible thanks to the meddling grandpa Solinor’s protection.

On the other hand, it was also a testament to the trust adults had in her maturity.

The lively and innocent side she sometimes showed was also part of her charm.

All the staff had a dual affection for her.

They were enchanted by her childish side and in awe of her maturity.

If anything had harmed her image, it was the foreign spy interrogation incident from a week ago.

But those who had seen her terrifying side—Florina and Hamilton—had already adapted.

Since Muriela had stayed mostly in her chambers, she hadn’t had the opportunity to act out again.

And seeing her diligently maintain her righteous daily routine made them feel that things were alright again.

“It’s okay for people to have a little rebellion once in a while,” they thought.

Although, in her case, the “rebellion” was far too brutal and terrifying for a child.

Still, thanks to her exemplary behavior since then, her image had quickly recovered.

In fact, both of them had resolved to support her even more so she wouldn’t go astray again.

Princess Muriela was dozing off on her bed after lying down for a bit.

A child’s body craves lots of sleep, and she’d fall asleep as soon as she had the chance.

Meanwhile, her spy/maid arrived at the door with good news.

“Princess, lunch is ready.”

It wasn’t even said in a particularly loud voice, but the word “lunch” made Muriela react instantly.

As if she had never been dozing at all, she opened her eyes and replied cheerfully.

“Florina! I’ve been waiting!”

“Yes, Princess. Shall we go together?”

With energetic steps, Muriela bounded to the door and threw it open.

Florina escorted her toward the dining room.

There, the chef, the gardener, and Sir Hamilton were all waiting.

They had even brought extra chairs into the garden so everyone could eat together—no worries about seating.

“Hello! Did everyone rest well?”

“Hohoho, Princess. You look even more energetic than when I saw you at breakfast.”

The first to respond to Princess Muriela’s cheerful greeting was the gardener.

Being of the Floresca race, she didn’t particularly like human food.

Still, the chef went to special effort due to the princess’s request that everyone dine together.

He completely excluded meat and prepared ingredients sourced from trees.

“Yup! I worked out a lot since then. I even did two push-ups today!”

At that, Sir Hamilton let out a hearty laugh.

It was certainly exhausting to keep training the princess while feeding her white lies to keep her spirits high.

But even so, his affection for her was genuine.

“Hahaha. Please go easy during the afternoon sword training, Princess. I have to guard you, so getting injured would be troublesome.”

“Well… Hehe, I’ll think about it!”

Princess Muriela grinned mischievously.

Of course, Solinor wasn’t foolish enough to think she truly posed a threat to Hamilton.

This was a man who had taken on multiple foreign spies in tight quarters and come out unscathed.

Admittedly, he had been fooled into overestimating his granddaughter’s swordsmanship talent due to flattery.

But it wasn’t full-blown delusion—his standards were simply a bit off.

‘Hmm… I didn’t even know how to hold a sword at her age. So compared to me, Muriela is doing really well.’

The reason was simple—Solinor had never properly learned swordsmanship as a child.

Because of that, he had no reference point for what counted as “talented” for an eight-year-old.

Hamilton said she was good, so she probably had potential—but he had no clue how much.

Still, even if her skills were clumsy now, consistent effort could lead to greatness, right?

“Wow, lunch is delicious too! The beef just melts in my mouth.”

“Yes, Your Highness. It’s an honor that you enjoy it.”

The staff waited for the princess to begin eating before they joined in.

Everyone chatted happily while savoring the food and praising the chef’s skills.

It was just like the kind of boisterous meal Solinor had loved in his past life.

After finishing her meal, Muriela gave her tummy a satisfied pat and stood up.

If only she cared for etiquette teacher Anna’s mental health as much as she cared for her servants.

“That was great! Chef, please take care of dinner too!”

“Of course. I’ll do my utmost to ensure Your Highness is satisfied.”

“Yup! Thank you for always working so hard for me!”

After the meal, Muriela took a cheerful walk through the garden.

The traces of the disaster she had caused while trying to summon a spirit were nearly gone now.

The gardener had worked tirelessly to restore it, and nature itself was resilient after all.

As she walked with light steps under the warm sunlight, Muriela suddenly heard a familiar sound.

‘Hello, Muriela. Hello, Zephyr.’

‘Hello, Wendy.’

Zephyr quickly greeted his senior spirit, afraid of getting scolded again.

Muriela was startled. What brought that annoying wind spirit back after all this time?

‘Wendy? Wow, how long has it been?’

Wendy was just as surprised. Muriela was speaking to her directly through her mind?

The last time they met, she always had to speak aloud.

‘Huh? Since when can you talk to me in your mind?’

‘Umm… A week ago?’

‘What? That’s…’

‘That’s what?’

‘Nothing, never mind.’

Wendy was about to say “amazing,” but suddenly got irritated and mumbled a vague answer.

Like a true boomer spirit, she was annoyingly stingy with praise.

Solinor may have overestimated his granddaughter’s sword talent, but her true genius lay elsewhere.

Her growth as a Spirit Mage was truly astonishing.

She had awakened at the age of eight, and not long after, learned how to give orders to spirits.

In emergencies, she had even managed to command multiple spirits simultaneously.

‘So, why are you here after so long? Did Aiorin send you?’

‘Yup. She said she had a message for you.’

‘Ah, she’s finally sent word. What took her so long? Anyway, what did she say?’

Solinor, finally about to receive news of his wife after nearly ten days, asked in a rush.

‘She said she has your grandchildren with her. But wait—you’re eight years old, right? You already have grandkids? Do humans reproduce that fast?’

Even Wendy looked confused by the words coming out of her own mouth.
