Chapter 5

Suddenly bursting into laughter, she threw open the window.

The weather was still very sunny.

However, unlike a moment ago, the clear weather didn’t evoke any unnecessary irritation.

Was it because she had vented her frustration elsewhere, even if only a little?

‘Ah, seriously! Grace, you know your personality is really terrible, right?’

‘I know, I know.’

If her disciple had been there, he would have nagged her not to vent her anger in unnecessary places, saying how unpleasant her personality was.

A faint smile reappeared on Ceres’s lips.

Then, noticing a small flowerpot at the end of the windowsill, Ceres quietly picked it up.

Something that looked like it had dried up completely was planted in the pot, likely due to poor care.

No matter how much she looked, she couldn’t figure out what kind of plant it was.

Whoosh.

But in the next moment, the state of the flowerpot resting on Ceres’s hand began to change gradually.

The plant, which had been completely dried up, quickly came back to life, sprouting green leaves and ultimately bursting into small purple flower buds.

“It was an Elance flower.”

Having identified the plant, Ceres didn’t stop there.

After a moment, the purple flower wilted even faster than it had bloomed, and the freshly grown leaves shrank in an instant.

Soon, everything disappeared, leaving only a small seed in its place.

“It’s a very good herb for fever reduction.”

Ceres smiled at the seed, noting that it wasn’t in bad condition, but then she suddenly froze in place.

With a short sigh, she dropped the seed back into the pot.

“What am I doing right now?”

Habits are truly frightening.

She didn’t even need to collect herbs like this anymore.

“Tsk.”

Ceres buried the seed back in the pot.

Then, just like before, the plant grew rapidly, blooming beautifully.

‘It’s fascinating.’

Despite her body changing, she could still use her abilities.

The power to reverse time.

An unknown power that could rewind the time of any object or person within her grasp to the past or release it to the future.

This ability had played a significant role in her being called a saint, as she had been able to save countless people.

By reverting the painful areas of a patient to the time before they felt pain, everything was resolved.

‘Of course, there are exceptions.’

Congenital diseases that one is born with.

She couldn’t do anything about those with the abilities she possessed.

However, her healing skills didn’t become famous solely based on this unique ability. It wasn’t something that could be used at any time.

‘There are quite a few side effects.’

While it was fine to use her power on small flowerpots, overuse could strain her body.

Severe headaches would occur, and in extreme cases, she could lose consciousness. Nosebleeds were also common.

‘That’s why Kai was really against it.’

Once, she had collapsed in front of him, and afterward, he had glared at everyone coming for treatment as if he wanted to kill them all.

‘It was a complete disruption of business.’

His fierce gaze, filled with the intent to make them leave immediately, had terrified the customers.

There were countless times when many had been caught and thrown out.

“Anyway, isn’t it important that this ability remains intact?”

Was it a power tied to her soul?

Despite changing her body, she was grateful that she could still use her ability to reverse time.

‘I fixed the bed right away.’

The horror of sleeping on a creaky bed on the first night was unforgettable!

The very next day, she had reversed time on the bed before sleeping.

She realized that simply having a comfortable place to sleep could make a person truly happy that day.

‘It’s quite useful.’

She couldn’t help but admire her abilities once again.

Of course, there had been times when she cursed and resented this power.

‘It was when I realized it didn’t work on me at all.’

It was during her life as Grace Ellsia.

After discovering she was afflicted with an incurable disease, she had tried using her power directly on her body, but it had been of no use.

After multiple attempts, all she received in return were the terrible side effects of using her abilities.

That made her feel a surge of anger, as she thought, why could she save everyone else but not herself? This cursed ability, what was the point of it? She remembered cursing for a while.

‘Well, it was only for a moment, but still.’

She soon accepted her situation, and one could say her heart felt more at ease.

Knock, knock.

While Ceres was enjoying the view outside and recalling past memories, she turned her head at the sound of a knock.

She could see her maid, Jay, cautiously entering.

“Lady Ceres.”

“What is it?”

“Um… Madam Agne is looking for you.”

“Aunt?”

“It’s probably because of what happened earlier. Oh, Madam Agne seems really angry… It’s all my fault…”

Tears welled up in Jay’s eyes.

What words had those three used to frame Ceres this time?

They must have concocted all sorts of lies to throw her under the bus…

“What happened earlier? What was it?”

“Y-Yes?”

Despite Jay’s worries, Ceres seemed to completely forget what had just occurred and even asked back.

“I’ll be back soon.”

“No, wait…!”

Leaving Jay behind, who was trying to say something more, Ceres waved her hand and quickly left.

“W-What should I do?”

As Ceres disappeared in an instant, Jay anxiously tapped her foot.

Sighs escaped from her lips filled with concern.

***

“Welcome, Ceres.”

Unlike the worries of Antonion and Jay, Agne greeted Ceres with a warm smile.

She even offered a freshly brewed cup of tea, and a soft smile adorned her face.

“You called for me?”

Ceres, who had not shown much interest in Agne’s reaction, sat down and immediately inquired about the purpose of her visit.

“What’s going on?”

“…”

At her question, Agne’s brow furrowed slightly before quickly returning to normal.

‘Perhaps what they said might actually be true.’

Earlier, in front of the three maids who reported that Ceres had suddenly doused them with water, Agne had scoffed.

She thought that they were trying to draw her attention to Ceres, fearing they might get scolded for ruining her clothes.

Ceres, of all people? That couldn’t be true.

She was the type to walk carefully through the garden, mindful of even the ants crawling on the ground, fearing she might accidentally step on and kill them. So how could she have doused her maids with water?

‘That’s what I thought…’

But now, looking at Ceres sitting in front of her, she could definitely sense that the atmosphere was quite different from before.

‘She could never even lift her head properly in front of me, as if she had committed a sin.’

She had created that demeanor herself.

How much effort had she put into making her feel that way?

Ceres Drow, the foolish niece who had lost her parents in an instant and didn’t know what to do, had been made to rely solely on her.

‘Ceres, do you really think that way?’

‘Huh?’

‘Yes. If that’s your choice, I’ll respect it.’

‘Ah… okay.’

After returning to her family under the pretext of being burdened by her young niece, Agne had not commented much on what Ceres was doing for a while.

Instead, she created the worst situations to ensure that the child’s efforts would never bear fruit.

‘Look at this. Is this all the result of the insistence you made?’

‘Tsk, you should have told me earlier. What is this?’

‘Oh my… Why did you make her do such things, Ceres? You’ve ruined everything.’

‘Tsk tsk, your choice has led to this result.’

As a few months passed, Ceres reached a point where she could do nothing on her own.

She began to feel fear in making decisions and prioritized her aunt’s opinions over her own.

‘She used to be like that.’

What was with her relaxed demeanor now?

“Surely, you didn’t call me just to drink tea, did you?”

Instead of nervously wondering what she might say, she was urging Agne for an answer.

Agne’s expression took on a peculiar light.

“I received a call from the nursing home.”

“A nursing home?”

Ceres tilted her head slightly at the unexpected news.

What on earth was she talking about?

As she stared blankly, Agne let out a heavy sigh.

“Yulia has collapsed again.”

“Yulia?”

Who on earth was that?

“Oh my… Ceres, don’t you remember Yulia?”

‘How could I?’

At the obvious question, Ceres stared at the woman in front of her without giving any response.

Agne nodded lightly, as if she understood everything, and clarified Ceres’s confusion.

“Yulia is your younger sister.”

“…Sister?”

She had another sister?
